    It’s Tax Reform Day!

Taxes are not only a method to collect funds (fruits of your labor) by force, but, they are also a means of control over your life. The tax code is a control device, reduce the amount of taxes and reduce the tax code to a simple flat rate and control and freedom are given back to the citizen.

In the light of the fact that less taxes and less code equals more freedom and liberty, lets see what the GOPe, the ‘principled conservatives’, Nevertrump bastards and the rest of the leeches in D.C. are going to do to prevent Trump from getting some freedom and liberty back to the citizens.

If they are against tax cuts and against reducing the tax code they are against your freedom and liberty, and for taking the fruits of your labor by force. PERIOD.

ach. you’re missing the most important dynamic. The graft. Getting favors in the form of tax breaks or subsidies for a constituent group that puts money in your pocket in one form or other – ever keep track of people who leave office and go to work as lobbyists for some org they got tax breaks for? – is one of the great perks of holding office. Without that opportunity, what’s in it for them? Nothing.

237K jobs added in private sector in August. ADP numbers, breaking, Fox business news. I don’t know what the expected number was but Megan McDowell said the numbers that have come in are much higher.

more info on the ADP jobs numbers from zerohedge

ADP reports the US economy added 237,000 jobs in August, notably more than the expected 185k. This is the biggest addition since March, and follows upward revisions for July. While Services dominated (adding 204k), Goods-producing jobs rose 33k (with manufacturing adding 16k).

Medium- and Large-seized firms added the most jobs in August.

      wait, there’s this…

Wednesday’s report included the government’s first estimate for profits at U.S corporations during the second quarter. After-tax profits, without inventory valuation and capital consumption adjustments, fell 1.4% in the second quarter after rising 1.3% in the first quarter.

      BUT

Second-quarter profits were up 8.1% from a year earlier.

Yep they did it to Ted on CNN yesterday as well, Jim whatshisname CNN WH correspondent, tried that stuff on Ted and Ted smacked him down good.

Always important to point out that Ted was a mature Christian that saw no option but to support Trump for the sake of Unborn Children/Christian values via a Conservative Supreme Court that Trump promised. So far so good with Gorsuch, Thanks Ted

This is just a sample of a comment from a “Never Trump, Always Ted blog. And this is mild.

To answer your question on the other thread, I’m feeling somewhat better, thanks so much for asking! But man, getting over these colds and such after the age of 60 isn’t as easy as it used to be.

      @ coldwarrior:

I was originally hoping for a Scott Walker candidacy but I think he really entered the race too late. I’m not gonna lie – I liked Ted Cruz…..for Attorney General or the Supreme Court. I agree, I don’t think he would have been able to pull it off nationally – I think he’s a brilliant lawyer and a great conservative, but the charisma factor is near zero. But the Never Trumpers piss me off more than anything – like Bill Kristol. He’s gone from conservative media icon to the butt of our jokes on Twitter – him and the Tasty Breakfast Sandwich (who has been rather quiet of late – probably realized uh, dude, no one LIKES you). There are a lot of my friends on Twitter who were not Trump supporters and that do find some of Trump’s actions or remarks a little off putting. But when he does the right thing, they are right there applauding with the rest of us.

Harkening back to yesterday’s dismissal of Palin’s defamation suit, it appears misquoting and mishandling the truth is endemic for the New York Times. In the law this is called a “pattern of behavior” and would have been useful in discovery, had this dirtbag judge allowed the case to go forward:

      http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/29/new-york-times-corrects-five-trump-charlottesville-reports/?utm_source=site-share

It appears the New York Times misquoted Trump’s remarks on Charlottsville not once, not twice, but FIVE separate times. And frankly, the misquotes completely change the tenor of what he said.

cruz’s moral compass doesn’t work. He lost me at the Trump rally in Chicago. The Soros puppets promised to stage a riot – they advertised on Craig’s list for god’s sake and offered something like $15/hr. Trump canceled the rally. Cruz, knowing full well who was behind the threat, blamed Trump. He missed the chance to call out the commies, socialists and Soros and instead tried to hang it on Trump. He had Secret Service detail by then, so I know he had the facts.

      Nope. Bye.

I imagine her legal team is discussing it. She’ll have 30 days from the entry of the order by the Court, so we should know by September 28th. You’d think it would be a quick turnaround, but there are other documents you need to file which require some preparation as well.

The nice thing about an appeal, is that she can also enlist Amicus briefs from various sources which might prove helpful (of course, NYT can do the same).

I forget who it was, but 2 Congresscritters introduced a bill after Katrina to require evac shelters to take dogs, etc., because their refusal to take them resulted in a lot of abandoned/dead dogs. Texas can’t punish so-called sanctuary cities, after a federal judge temporarily blocked a measure that would have let Texas’s Republican leadership jail sheriffs and fine towns for failing to fully cooperate with U.S. immigration policies.

The state is expected to appeal to try to reinstate the law, which was set to take effect Friday.

U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia, of San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday refused to approve provisions that threaten local officials with firing or up to a year in jail and municipalities with fines of up to $25,500 a day for failing to fall in line with Texas Republican lawmakers’ goal to step up immigration enforcement.

The judge also questioned provisions of the law that could lead officials to illegally detaining U.S. citizens or seizing lawful immigrants who aren’t accused of any crimes.

“There is overwhelming evidence by local officials, including local law enforcement, that SB 4 will erode public trust and make many communities and neighborhoods less safe,” Garcia said in a 94-page decision. “There is also ample evidence that localities will suffer adverse economic consequences which, in turn, harm the state of Texas.”

94 page decision? Somebody convince me this wasn’t pre-written before any arguments were even advanced.

… and Texas can’t punish those who are breaking the law? Texas should flat out ignore this judge’s illegal order.

well, THIS is going to be interesting. An apparently famous couple who split after storing frozen embryos are now in a custody dispute over legal custody of said embryos. An issue of jurisdiction arose, Louisiana vs. California, and a judge has ruled that the embryos are citizens of California.

so if an embryo is a citizen, does it not then have the right to life as in, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”?

‘Transgender’ isn’t an insult, judge tells Richard Simmons

Richard Simmons’ lawsuit against the National Enquirer hit an unexpected snag in court. A judge seems to be ready to rule in favor of the gossip outlet for a surprising reason.

Simmons sued both the Enquirer and Radar Online in May for a series of articles that alleged the 69-year-old fitness guru was transitioning to become a woman. He alleged that, while he holds no personal ill-feelings toward the transgender community, the articles were false and defamatory to his character. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his lawyers argued that, as a public figure, he has a legal right to “not be portrayed as someone he is not.” However, a judge is tentatively ruling that alleging someone is transgender is not necessarily defamatory.

Although the outlet notes that no official ruling has been made, the court is making it clear that it plans to treat the issue of claiming someone is transgender the same way it would treat claims of race, illness or other “immutable characteristics.”

“This court finds that because courts have long held that a misidentification of certain immutable characteristics do not naturally tend to injure one’s reputation, even if there is a sizeable portion of the population who hold prejudices against those characteristics, misidentification of a person as transgender is not actionable defamation absent special damages,” L.A. Superior Court judge Gregory Keosian said.

He went on to explain that, while being transgender may subject a person to ridicule or prejudice from a large portion of the population, “the court will not validate those prejudices by legally recognizing them.”

However, according to Variety, Simmons’ lawyers are trying to make the case that the court has a responsibility to legally recognize those prejudices rather than plan ahead for an ideal world in which they do not exist.

that’s in california, right? the state that wants to criminalize addressing people by the wrong pronoun? Trump Moves to Restore Work Requirement for Welfare

The Trump administration moved Wednesday to reimpose work requirements for Americans on welfare, revoking an Obama-era policy that had urged states to apply for waivers exempting the poor from having to show they were either getting job training or looking for work.

Requiring work was a key part of the 1996 welfare reform law enacted by a GOP-led Congress and signed by then-President Bill Clinton, and Mr. Trump’s move restores the law as written.

“The waiver option offered by the Obama administration is being replaced today by an expectation that work should always be encouraged as a condition for receiving welfare,” said Steven Wagner, the Health and Human Services Department’s acting assistant secretary for children and families.

The 2012 Obama policy didn’t outright gut the welfare law. Instead, it pushed states to consider applying for waivers that would let them still pay benefits to people even if they weren’t actively seeking work, job training or meeting other criteria.

hey CW when you have a minute, I have an econ question. There’s a story going around that Americans pay more in taxes than we do for food and clothing combined. I’m not sure what that means as so many people pay no FEDERAL income taxes at all, so I assume it covers ALL taxes. Also, I don’t know if there’s a breakdown by income, etc. Bill Gates probably pays enough in property taxes in one year to keep me fed for the rest of my life. So, altho the story is meant to convey that Americans are overtaxed, can it not also be said the food and clothing here are fairly inexpensive (I know food, compared to other countries, definitely is)

They all want to be prosaic if they know the order is going to get some press. Typically, even with a complicated motion, you can do a summing up of the relief requested, the case law that shaped your decision from both sides, and the final result in about 15-20 pages. Anything over that and you’re auditioning to write appellate decisions.

found it. Based on census data, compiled by BLS.

The BLS numbers show that the average “consumer unit”—each financially independent family—spent $10,489 for federal, state, and local taxes compared to spending $1,803 on clothing and $7,203 on food.

I have no problem with this. But, from personal experience they need to add Full time college as one of the criteria. I had this problem during the Bush era. Was going to school full time, wife had lost her full time (was on part time) job, and we had to get benefits. They would not count my full time college as allowed and tried to force me into a work program THAT WAS HELD DURING MY CLASSES.

what we do. We may not get the crown. We may not get the trophy. But
we’re the movers and the shakers of the world. We make the beautiful
      people lose”

Good day at the ‘Chinese collective’ today.

Ms. PLA has apparently taken our little group under her wing. She even admitted to one of our Mandarine speakers that she intends to buy up the remaining 40% of shares in the company and install herself as CEO, and buy in skilled support. She’s looking at lust at my 2ic because he’s got a LOT of Logistics and International business smarts. Still she couldn’t pay him as much as he’ll be earning by mid July 2018 with my crowd. To make the big bucks one has to be a member of the decision making team, not a denizen of the facilitators/ expertise table.

Looks like a done deal ! Yeee Haaaaa! Today was just the ‘rats and mice’ how, where, and when as all of the main questions have been asked and agreed to, by the Chinese side. The Kiwi founder of our client’s company has protected us from all of the Chinese shannigans and my little in-house rant yesterday about the corrupt philosophy underpinnings of the Chinese economic model, seem to have had the desired effect on the ‘dodgy’ Chinese facilitator, who has re-entered her box and pulled the lid shut…. for now. I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned out to be a Chinese government plant or at best a ‘true believer’s of the the Middle Kingdom.

My 2ic and Ms. ( Col.) Lee of the PLA are getting on like a house on fire, and it’s she who will hold all of the ‘power cards’ this time next year, when the serious money is being made.

My only fear is that the Chinese economy will tank over the next year, just when it comes time for us all to cash in big time.

      Fingers and toes crossed!

      🙂

I just finished one of my periodic 10 day weeks. Worked out well, since Monday’s a holiday I get 4 days off, instead of 3.

We just completed our ACA accreditation audit. Three days of inspectors poking into everything. We ended up getting a 96.7, though. Not bad for an initial accreditation (they’re counting us as a new facility, since we had a complete change of inmates and mission).

Three years until the next one, and a bit over 3 years left on our contract, so at least we have some job security for a while.

CONFIRMED: Comey Decided He Wasn’t Going to Refer Hillary For Prosecution Long Before FBI Investigation Was Over

According to new transcripts released by the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday afternoon, former FBI Director James Comey made the decision not to refer then Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for prosecution long before ever interviewing key witnesses. Members of the Committee allege Comey made the decision months before FBI agents were finished with the criminal investigation into her mishandling of classified information during her time as Secretary of State.

The transcripts were revealed in a letter sent to current FBI Director Christopher Wray, in which lawmakers are demanding an explanation and more documents surrounding the case.

“According to the unredacted portions of the transcripts, it appears that in April or early May of 2016, Mr. Comey had already decided he would issue a statement exonerating Secretary Clinton. That was long before FBI agents finished their work. Mr. Comey even circulated an early draft statement to select members of senior FBI leadership. The outcome of an investigation should not be prejudged while FBI agents are still hard at work trying to gather the facts,” the letter, signed by Chairman Chuck Grassley and Committee member Lindsey Graham states. “Conclusion first, fact-gathering second—that’s no way to run an investigation. The FBI should be held to a higher standard than that, especially in a matter of such great public interest and controversy.”

“It is unclear whether the FBI agents actually investigating the case were aware that Mr. Comey had already decided on the investigation’s outcome while their work was ongoing. However, it appears that the answer to that question may be underneath some of the extensive redactions that the Department made to the transcripts,” the letter continues.

I’m off to sleep so I have enough energy to fight the insurance company battle tomoorrow, arguing it was straight line rains that flooded the store and not a flood issue. A long shot, I know.

Well we had a meeting with our project ops manager at the call center yesterday. She’s still swearing up & down she doesn’t know of any plans to shut our project and maybe the whole site down. What’s in her favor on that is that they just did a remodel of our break room to take out the machines and put in a ‘market’ with more fresh stuff like fruit & juices and things like aspirin, kind of like a mini convenience store. She also said there are 3-4 possible new projects looking at coming in. None of them would pay as well as what I’m doing now, but I’d also be putting in for a team lead position which would get me off the phones and give me at least a bit of a raise.

Also talked to the site lead over lunch, and he said there’s at least a possibility of a site visit over one of those new projects in the next week or two, and they could be in by sometime during the 4th Quarter.

I can just see it though- they make the announcement during the week I’m in TX and I miss the chance to apply…
