The 2017 Idiot Wind Awards Nominations – Frederica Wilson

by Bunk Five Hawks X ( 90 Comments › )
Filed under Democratic Party, Donald Trump, Donald Trump, government, Military, Open thread, Politics, Progressives at October 20th, 2017 - 12:00 am

You’ve already heard the story as told by Florida Democrat Frederica Wilson. She claimed she eaves-dropped on a private phone conversation between the President of the United States and the widow of a fallen warrior. Wilson alleges that the POTUS took time out of his busy schedule to call the widow in order to give her a load of sarcastic crap about how her husband deserved it for volunteering to serve in the military in the first place. Pheeeew

Not even Maxine Waters (D California) could have coughed up and spat out a bigger loogie and danced on it, but Ms. Wilson did.

The Florida Democrat who criticized President Donald Trump this week for being “insensitive” toward the widow of a U.S. soldier slain in Africa might be facing similar criticism herself.

It turns out that U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson has frequently voted against measures intended to help veterans and their families, according to VoteSmart.org, a vote-tracking site whose founding board members included former presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford.

The measures that Wilson opposed included a bill that could have ensured that families of four soldiers slain in Afghanistan in 2013 received death and burial benefits. [Source, via.]

Congrats, Ms. Wilson. You’ve just earned a solid nomination for The 2017 Idiot Wind Award.

good morning. She’s definitely a candidate, but I have another nominee.

George W. Bush, aka Bush 43.

He managed to keep his mouth shut during 8 years of the Obama wrecking spree, when race relations were trashed by lies (“Don’t shoot!”), national security was sold to the Iranians and uranium sold to the Russians, the economy destroyed via Obamacare and destruction of the energy industry.

He got kudos for being a ‘gentleman’

Until the other day, when he decided to lecture us all about inevitable globalism (just lay back and dream of England), tell us that the current divisions were ‘blasphemous’ and talk about our ‘creed’ that he never felt the need to defend during Obama but popped up in the first year of Trump to warn that people like me are bigots’

That’s right. Bush 43 pretty much called me and my ilk bigots the other day.

He’s my nominee for the 2017 Idiot Wind award

Good morning Eagle. Two speeches that day, one by W and one by Kelly.
Kelly gives a speech for the ages about sacrifice and nobility. Contrast to W who gave a speech based
on family bitterness and smears for a sitting president and his supporters. There is a reason that W
    is mediocre.

Oh, but did you get the part where he nailed her ass w/o naming her? It was the dedication of the new FBI bldg in Miami Dade, dedicated to 2 agents killed in a firefight with drug dealers. Grogan and Duke were their names, IIRC. Their families and colleagues, some of whom were injured in the same incident, were in attendance.

SHE got up and told everybody how she got on the phone to Obama and got the money for the bldg, then sat her fat ass down. Kelly said they were just stunned. He called her ‘the empty barrel that makes the most noise’

We really have to come up with a moniker that is truly as scathing and humiliating as she deserves. Her reaction “Now I’m a rock star!” needs to be shoved up her ass.

    @ coldwarrior:

I was never as convinced as you were that Bush 43 was a dedicated globalist. I had him marked as an uncomplicated, decent guy who probably didn’t think that deeply about things.

    More fool me.

I still don’t credit him with being much of an intellect, but he sure as hell isn’t decent.

And not to put too fine a point on it, Ari Fleischer, who was his 1st PressSec, got out there to defend him, saying Bush had said the same things privately for as long as he’d known him, nothing has changed.

    Yeah, Ari, you’re not helping

I thought GW was terrific when he and Laura visited the wounded at Ft. Hood. No cameras, just real concern. Thought he was also classy when he respected the time-honored tradition (broken by DEMONRATS) of bowing out and not criticizing his successor.

But when he makes dirtbag comments like “White Supremacy in any form is a blasphemy” – as if Nazis were parading around America in huge numbers but NEVER SAID A GODDAMN WORD about BLM urging the killing of cops, even after 5 officers were assasinated in Dallas, Texas –

    Go back to Crawford, creep.

That’s why the dems like to run radicals against rinos. The more globalist the republican, the more socialist the democrat. That way it’s a win win for the agenda. I have no idea how we get through this kind of crap.

  29. 32 | October 20, 2017 3:02 pm

    @ Deplorable Martian Overlord:
The only thing I can see would be an instant runoff. You cast ballots for 2 or 3 candidates and either whoever has the most total votes wins, or you rank 1st, 2nd choice and if your first candidate doesn’t finish at or near the top your 2nd vote counts.

    Language warning:

Exactly whose dick is Elon Musk sucking?

This is from a 2016 visit to a Tesla plant and the problems have not been fixed.

I couldn’t help check off the sins against the “Toyota Bible”, prescriptions for car manufacturers that are lucidly detailed in The Machine That Changed The World (a great and, in parts, sad read). In particular, one mustn’t stockpile parts on the floor, they must be fed in small quantities at small time intervals. If a part has a problem, only a small quantity needs to be shipped back to the supplier who can inspect, correct, and quickly adjust their own production process.

As I watched Tesla’s messy, hiccuping line, with workers dashing in to fix faulty parts in place, my mind travelled back to the Honda plant I had visited years ago in Marysville, Ohio. Clean, calm, everything moved smoothly. I was so shocked by the contrast that I imprudently voiced my concern. That didn’t go over well with my fellow Tesla owners. I was a killjoy, I was calling their choice into question.

    and from the comments:

The Tesla experience was a complete disaster. Telsa employees would never tire of telling us “we don’t do things like Ford and GM…” thinking they were superior. Yet at every step of they way they played fast and loose with standards and normal protocols leading, invariably to delays, cost overruns, and blaming the supplier.

Yet, as bad as engineering was, production seemed to be worse.

I’m amazed how the media drinks the Kool-aid and believes that they’re going to deliver on their promise to manufacture all these hundreds of thousands of cars they’ve forecast while on the same day fire their VP Production and other senior leadership.

The company is a joke let by a modern P.T Barnum.

… and what else, exactly, has Musk produced? It’s OK being a pirate if you have a vision and also some ability to transfer that to a product and production. Modifying or rejecting staid process is OK as long as you replace it with something superior. But that also assumes you’ve had some experience so you know that what you are doing will result in better outcomes. These folks appear to be entitlement mentality over-educated and under-experienced charlatans.

I never put much by that as some things are family tradition and college is a beginning, not an end point by any means. Like joining the same frat your dad belonged to. big deal.

    @ eaglesoars:

My F-150 is 20 years old. Next year it will be old enough to buy its own handgun. Not really wanting a new one, this electronic obsolescence stuff is troubling (I can’t get my ABS fixed because the module is no longer made). I’m looking for a restored 50’s to 70’s something pickup.

My jeep is 20 years old. I bought it last year. I’ve spent 3x the amount I paid for it on repairs so far. With more to come.

I know that Americans as a group do not place much store with any of the Bohemian Grove set and the whole Masonic push. Alas there is a whole lot more to it than an innocent ‘boys will be boys push’, and they as a group are up on their hind legs currently as the Whole One World Elitist (swamp dwellers) and associated ‘goat riders’ seem to be in the ascendancy. Hell DC is full of various cross linked organisations populated by members of these ‘secret handshake’ types doing their worst. The one’s I have run across are certainly dedicated, hugely funded, and extremely focused on propagating the Swamp. I could lay out their various ‘organs, pressure groups(nudgers) and institutes for you but I suspect that you already know most of them.

    SPIT

    🙂

I actually resigned from a world wide civil service society organisation apparently promoting ‘good’ works but in fact covertly pushing their own covert agendas. A good third of their senior members were Masons with some VERY nasty agendas. I voted with my feet and let them know exactly why I was resigning. I must admit that having discovered what they were really about I delayed my departure to ensure that the upcoming recruitment of post graduate students to their cause was thrown into disarray at least for a year.

    🙂

    Bastards !

… and the rest of the truck is perfectly good. Makes no sense that a whole vehicle is obsoleted because you can’t get a $100 part. Good news is the ABS fails in the off state (when it’s screwed up, it pushes back when you stop) so there isn’t a safety issue. They do lock up easily, but that’s OK, it wakes up the guy who cuts in front of me in slow traffic because I’m leaving a safe following distance.

MSN, management…because in this field, a masters in econ/stats with 8 years of line management in a fortune 100 company doesnt matter nor does it count.

its a closed guild, so i have to jump the hoops again. because it is closed and self protecting it is the worst managed field that i have ever witnessed, abysmal. well, time to blow it up.

    night yinz!

    @ eaglesoars:

I’ll defend GWB, but not his recent idiotic speech. He sounded more like Al Gore or Hillary to me.

Less than a year in office he had 911 to deal with. Given the circumstances, he performed reasonably well. Going into Afghanistan was a given, kicking Saddam Hussein’s ass was also necessary.

GWB caused no significant damage to the booming economy, and the crash of 2007 was due to factors out of his control.
