But it’s a fragile thing, hope, and the man who is supposed to deliver this brave new world is not known for his delicate touch. Emmerson ‘The Crocodile’ Mnangagwa is Mugabe’s most likely replacement, reportedly favoured by the military men who precipitated the current crisis, but he is hardly a radical departure from the status quo. For decades he was Mugabe’s enforcer-in-chief, the man assigned to do the dirty work while Mugabe played the respectable statesman for the cameras.

It was Mnangagwa, never forget, who orchestrated the Gukurahundi massacre; and it was Mnangagwa who coordinated the campaign of violence against opposition supporters that eventually forced Morgan Tsvangirai to withdraw from the run-off election in 2008.

because he makes them look like the chumps they are. You should have seen Thurston Howell III’s tweet today:

I’ve always agreed with Bill Buckley in preferring to be governed by the first 2000 people in the Boston phone book than by the Harvard faculty. But there are times when elites have a role to play, and a time when a popular faction has put its faith in demagogues is one of them.

    https://twitter.com/BillKristol/status/930840821552861187

translation: time for the peasants to let their betters – i.e., MOI – take our rightful place as their rulers.

    Tell me about demagogues.

Here’s another one, that OF COURSE ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY HAPPENED, HONEST!

Had a encounter at the airport just now with a man who immigrated in the 80s from Afghanistan after losing a leg fighting the Soviets. He worships Reagan, Charlie Wilson & Gordon Humphrey, is very proud to be an American citizen, and implored us to keep fighting to save the GOP.

The Moore story took another weird turn today. I can’t find the link that I followed on facebook (I was on my phone at the time) but apparently he penned an open letter to Hannity. He of course denied all the allegations, but there was one thing that was very interesting. He states that the signature in the yearbook is not his. It is actually the way that his legal secretary signs his paperwork for him. In fact it is EXACTLY the same as the divorce papers that the woman got in her divorce case that she had in with him as the judge. He also says he has solid proof and is filing suit against his accusers.

Given the Duke Lacrosse case and the Clinton standards about politics and women I am inclined to want to wait before I trust opposition opinions on anything they say about the right.

But with the metoo hashtag we do see I think a lot of women that were abused and were afraid to say anything.

Why a person with a checkered sex history wants to run for political office I don’t know.

At this point I don’t jump to judgement on either side. I wait until the evidence becomes overwhelming (Clinton/Weinstein) or until it goes to court. So far with Moore, it’s just short of convincing at this point. If Moore’s evidence is as good as he says, the whole thing could collapse. If not, then he can go away. The left has practiced this for a long time. They know that the right will immediately form a circular firing squad. If it works this time and it’s not legitimate, they will just turn up the heat on every other candidate from now on. We’ve seen this too many times over and over to varying degrees of success. And even this time it’s working, the right is divided and not just along gope/non-globalist lines. We have too many that jump to judgement. I have to trust that the truth will come out sooner rather than later.

I saw too many careers ruined in the military by accusations of sexual harassment. Many of those were nothing more than a supervisor refusing to give a perfect rating to a substandard female airman. During Clinton, even the accusation was enough to end careers.

I couldn’t figure out why that comment so startled me. Hillary has always portrayed herself as the victim of malign forces (“vast right wing conspiracy”, RUSSIA, misogyny, etc.), but the tone of that one seemed different somehow. Also I would point out that “Yearbook” girl also said she had had NO contact with Moore since the parking lot incident. Moore was the judge in her divorce case in 1998. While not exactly “contact” he DID come into her orbit. And I believe he ruled against her, so she has an ax to grind. Also of note, people are saying that the restaurant in question had NO parking lot “around the back” at the time.

And I don’t know if these charges are true or not – but as a caller pointed out to Rush yesterday – NO ONE has sworn that any of this is true under oath and they probably believe once the election is over, it all goes away. Well, win or lose, I hope Moore sticks to his guns and sues them from defamation, slander and libel, just to see what happens when they’re sitting in a conference room with a videographer, a court reporter, and someone administering an oath in which the word “perjury” figures prominently.

all over twitter and talk shows I hear that even if Nelson is lying, that’s just 1 out of 5(?) so it becomes a ‘where there’s smoke…’

These people do NOT understand how truly petty and ugly women can be (why most of my friends have always been guys, btw). Jackie, of RollingStone, U.VA infamy, is not nearly as uncommon as people think. This bullshit about ‘women should always be believed’ gives way too much leeway to sneaky, lying bitches and over time, it makes things that much harder for women who truly have been victimized.

The Menendez thing has me confused anyway. They say that the case was built on circumstantial evidence linking the timing of the gifts to the timing of when he went to bat for his “friend”. Here’s where I get confused. I though gifts of that type were made illegal years ago. I could swear I remember some big deal years ago where they said that couldn’t be done anymore.

    https://www.ethics.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/gifts

    General Gifts Rule

No Member, officer, or employee shall knowingly accept a gift except as provided by the Gifts Rule.

A Member, officer, or employee may accept a gift, other than cash or cash equivalent, having a value of less than $50, provided that the source of the gift is not a registered lobbyist, foreign agent, or private entity that retains or employs such individuals. The cumulative value of gifts that may be accepted from any one source in a calendar year must be less than $100. Generally, gifts having a value of less than $10 do not count toward the annual limit. See Senate Rule 35.1(a).

Gloria Allred Refuses to Say Whether Client’s Yearbook Contains Forged Roy Moore Signature

While speaking on CNN on Wednesday, Gloria Allred — the attorney for one of Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore’s accusers — refused to deny the suspicion that her client’s yearbook contained a forgery of Moore’s signature.

When CNN host Wolf Blitzer initially asked her, Allred avoided the question. “That is not a flat denial,” Blitzer pressed in response.

But Allred persisted, telling Blitzer that she and her client weren’t denying anything.

“All I’m saying is, we’re not denying, we’re not admitting, we’re not addressing, we will not be distracted,” she said.

It’s pretty bad when Wolf Blitzer thinks you’re full of crap.

    @ Deplorable Martian Overlord:

What the effing hell kind of answer is that? YOU and your client called a press conference, YOU and your client accused a man of attempted rape and sexual assault, YOU and your client offered a yearbook post supposedly signed by the Judge Moore as “inappropriate”.

However, there are some problems with the story YOUR client is telling. First, she stated that she had had NO contact with Moore following the incident. Now we have learned that Judge Moore was the judidical officer presiding over her divorce case and that he found against her. So, here’s lie no. 1. Your whole “boyfriend not picking me up” story is full of holes.
But your yearbook thing looks like a complete fabrication. For starters, you have the initials “DA” after his signature. Moore was NOT the DA, he was a DDA and that’s an important distinction. Second, it appears that the signature on your Divorce papers are “Roy Moore, DA.” What YOU and your lying client could not have known is that these are the initials of Moore’s judicial clerk, who used those initials to indicate that a document had a STAMPED signature rather than an original. Instead, from all appearances, your client either copied or had someone else copy the signature as it appeared on her divorce papers. Oh, and that yearbook entry is in two different inks.

YOU did not vet your client’s claims, Allwet. And you should have done this before calling a press conference.

    @ coldwarrior:

If I had to hazard a guess, the same place Jesse Jackson’s comes from – shakedowns in advance of “commencing litigation.”

Allred is under investigation already from both the California and D.C Bars. She first got in hot water from the State Bar of California for her role in the 2010 Gubernatorial election, when she trotted out an illegal that she said was owed back pay by Brown opponent Meg Whitman and was suing for $6,000. Of course, by calling a press conference and giving the name of her client, she exposed her to deportation.

It is never about the client with Allred. It is about Allred getting her face in front of a camera. For instance, everyone was so “proud” of her for “representing” Amber Frey in the Scott Peterson murder investigation. Frey didn’t need representation. She wasn’t a suspect in Lacy’s disappearance, and in fact she was an informant for the Modesto police and a witness for the Stanislaus DA at trial. Allred was there to get herself some face time.

I should think malice in this case is evident beyond doubt, especially if that yearbook post doesn’t pass muster after examination. Allred hopefully will face disbarment for this.

We are all supposed to believe that because of Weinstein, women are no longer afraid to reveal things that happened years ago. I think in some cases this may be true, but you are right, there is something else going on here. Maybe a coordinated attempt to remove white males from positions of power? Maybe they are hoping to find a woman they can pay to make similar accusations against Trump and then get him removed because of all these “precedents”?

  89. 95 | November 16, 2017 5:00 pm

    @ coldwarrior:

I’m really curious myself how it came to be that Weinstein’s asshattery was exposed. He’s a HUGE Dem donor, big friend and supporter of the Clintons. Notice how you never ever hear about their friends the Bloodworth-Thomasons anymore? The Arkansas couple that first introduced them around Hollywood? The ones they fired the Travel Office for so that their travel group could have the business instead? During Bill’s first term at least, they were at the White House constantly.

But compared to Weinstein et al., they are small potatoes. No longer a Hollywood power couple, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Clintons kicked them to the curb as no longer needed. (Of course, they could have finally wised up to the dirtbags the Clintons were and took off on their own).

But I don’t recall a seminal event that has led to Weinstein’s undoing. Did the word go out from somewhere that it was okay to go after Weinstein now, because the Dems are trying to cut the Clintons from the herd and how better to embarrass them than expose their chiefest donor and supporter as a scumbag. Maybe it also paved the way for the MSM to hint around about how they should have believed “BJ” Bill’s accusers long ago. More embarrassment.

Another one ignored by the press because of focusing on Moore. This one has an arrest and evidence.

Alcon’s accuser claims he sent her creepy text messages “suggesting that he was watching her, other messages professing his love for her, and one picture of his genitals.” Later that night, he allegedly began texting her that he was outside of her apartment.

Police arrested Alcon in Albuquerque after they were called to an apartment complex late on Friday afternoon. The Albuquerque Police Department did not give details on what happened when they arrived on scene — only that they took Alcon into custody.

Alcon has had other run-ins with the law. He was convicted of stalking his ex-girlfriend back in 2007, and the judge in the case said he was “clearly obsessed,” The Daily Caller reported.

Another Democrat, this time from Colorado is facing serious charges of sexual harassment as well. Rep. Steve Lebsock was accused of becoming “sexually agressive” towards a Democratic colleague, Rep. Faith Winter at a party in 2016, The Denver Post reported.

Winter said as she recounted the incident with Lebsock. “(He began) describing different sexual acts that we could do, and I turned him down. And the more I turned him down, the more aggressive and angry he got. He was standing over me. He was saying things like, ‘Why can’t you just leave? This is good for both of us, I know you can make me feel happy.’”

Shortly after Winter went public with the allegations on Friday, two more women came forward with similar accusations. Lebsock denies any wrongdoing, instead choosing to blame the women of “blackmailing” and “coercing” him.
What makes Lebsock’s story even worse, is that Winter allegedly told Democratic leaders of the incident after it occurred in 2016, but nothing was done.

Again, Lebsock’s name hasn’t been mentioned at all by the networks or cable news.

In yet another case of media hypocrisy, a Democratic Senator from California, Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) has also been accused of harassment by multiple female staffers in the state’s Capitol building, to snoozes from the national media. The story was reported by print outlets in California such as The Sacramento Bee and Los Angeles Times earlier this week, but has still been untouched by the networks or cable news, even though the first woman came forward to local media five days ago.

If the media genuinely believes sexual assault and harassment is a serious issue, then why do they completely ignore reports of these crimes made against Democrats, or even their own, like NBC and MSNBC journalists?
