Questions for the USNI

by Bunk Five Hawks X ( 108 Comments › )
Filed under Immigration, Military, U.S. Navy at November 17th, 2017 - 1:35 am

Dad was a LTJG Navy veteran, long-standing member of the Glow-In-The-Dark Society for his participation in Operation Ivy. He passed away a few years ago. He had a membership with USNI (United States Naval Institute) and I prepaid on his behalf, mainly for it’s monthly publication entitled PROCEEDINGS that Dad enjoyed receiving, even though it was apparent that he couldn’t read it in his later years.

PROCEEDINGS is a tough ride for anyone not familiar with military acronyms and jargon, but some of it is fascinating. The articles are unclassified, so if you want to find out what’s really going on, you need to realize that we’re years beyond what is allowed to be published. Some of the uncensored OpEds are excellent.

Because my deceased father’s account is still active, being prepaid and all, I get notifications from USNI of upcoming highlights via email, like this one:

This is an unusual image posted by USNI and it doesn’t have a lot to do with the essay by Dr. Linton Wells, PhD, entitled “Prepared for the Battle But Not for the War.” Or maybe it does. What bothers me is the image posted by USNI is not of U.S. Soldiers. An image search results in this:

Rigonce, Slovania: Migrants mainly Syrians arriving from Croatia are escorted by Slovanian police.

http://www.marcovacca.com/features/295/the–balkan-route-towards–eu

Okay. But when you download the image you get an entirely different .jpg title: “REF Hungary-Serbia.”

So, according to USNI, the countries involved are probably Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Syria and Slovania, but not the United States.

What ever happened to the concept of honesty?

Dr. Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, posits that the world is in the midst of a “Fourth Industrial Revolution,” characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring lines among the physical, digital, and biological spheres.12 The scope of the adjustments and their systems-wide impact will be massively disruptive. Such forces are two-edged, providing important collective benefits to society but also negatively affecting many individuals through social turbulence and the loss of jobs.

The disruption of labor markets is likely to increase inequality within societies.13 This poses severe challenges for advanced economies and potentially even more serious effects in youth bulge areas where the workforce may have only modest skills, as well as in underserved parts of the developed world. Such areas already may be prone to conflict, which further undermines development. By any definition, these can create security problems. In 2015, a million refugees nearly overwhelmed Europe’s political structures. Many times more people are likely to be affected in the future.

marx will tell you that you must destroy societal norms and weaken the middle class (destroy the economy) in order to have a revolution. the writer does not identify the elitists who are at war with their own fellow citizens.

I see sloppy editing maybe, not dishonesty. Just skimming the article for main themes, it’s very far ranging and I can’t think of a photo that might capture all of it.

All of the areas he covered are important, e.g., infrastructure disruption, disinformation, etc., but he left out one idea and I know the Pentagon has war-gamed it. Economic disruption via currency manipulation. What would that mean for the military? By its very nature, that isn’t a conflict the military as a weapon is designed to address, but it would certainly be impacted. Something as mundane as sailors on shore leave not being able to buy, uh, ‘souvenirs’ because the currency they use is corrupted…..

don’t know if you saw AZ Federalist’s comment from last nite – remember Geo Stephanopolous’ question – out of nowhere – to Romney about ‘birth control’ – that somehow morphed into Romney being against ‘choice’ over the course of the campaign? No one recognized it except in hindsight, but it was the planted seed for a line of attack-narrative. So is this. I can’t see all of it, but I can smell it, and my guess is it’s about Trump and impeachment.

The way I see it the Dems want to clean up their own house breaking bad on their own sexual predators.
They want to get a look of pristine morality so that they don’t look hypocritical when they go full metal jacket
smearing Trump. They want to overturn the election , or at least humiliate and neuter Trump.
The MSM will of course support the effort.

or, have the clintons become so toxic…is there something coming down the road that is so heinous that not even the clintons can survive?

are they the targets of all of this? i dont see any way that the dems will get impeachment with just simple sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior. they gave that up when they defended clinton/lexinsky.

    pizzagate?

I think Martian Overlord and I were the only ones who really followed that story but there was a side story that was too dangerous for anyone to follow and that was about Haiti. Where the Clinton Foundation maintained they spent tons of money rebuilding the place after a hurricane but no one could find one house and a cholera epidemic was rampant for months. However, the adoption industry seemed to be healthy and were did those children go?

Tony Podesta would sing like a lark.

There are “Rumors” that it wasn’t just Bill taking trips on Epstein’s PedoExpress, and that Hillary made and kept a “Video” of her adventures, and that Video was sent to Anthony Weiner by Huma under the classification of her “Life Insurance Policy” and that it is on the harddrive in the possession of the NYPD.

Yes, I know, just rabid speculation/rumors.

  15. 16 | November 17, 2017 10:47 am

    @ RIX:

I agree that a lot of this is about Trump. If you look at Twitter (not recommended immediately before or AFTER eating) there is the residual chorus of Libturds snarling about Trump’s “sexual assaults” on women and the “Access Hollywood” tape. Oh and that Rape lawsuit!

Of course, we know that the airplane incident was shown to be a fabrication. It was pretty much unbelievable on its face to begin with.

I believe it was Gloria Allred who was parading the tearful former “Apprentice” contestants who said that Trump abused them. Well, after her shameful stint in Alabama (complete with yet another complainant in tears), her credibility, as well as her clients’, is shot. Especially since the only lawsuit to come out of this was one contestant suing Trump for defamation for calling her a “liar.” Yeah, good luck with that, honey bunny.

Rape lawsuit? Oh Mother Mary, puh-leeze. That was never going to survive a 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss to begin with.

  16. 17 | November 17, 2017 10:51 am

    @ doriangrey:
    @ coldwarrior:

You don’t hear the MSM talking about those trips of Bill’s on the Lolita Express these days. They briefly mentioned it when it first came up, but they seem to want to a big “mea culpa” for not taking Juanita Broderick seriously – because it happened decades ago and the comparisons to Moore are apt – “Oh we should have covered it but we’re not making the same mistake now!”

But Lolita Express allegations aren’t even a decade old.

    i found the answer:

The Democrats’ unexpectedly large, nine-point victory in the Virginia governor’s race last week has sparked hopes within the party that a “suburban surge” will carry it in next year’s elections to a majority in the House.

they are going for the soccer mom moron vote by attempting to cleanse themselves of the dreaded sexual assault/harassment thing

Speculated elsewhere that some of this is to pave the way for nominating another woman (just on general principles) by the Dems in 2020. But really, who do they have? Warren? If they think it’s going to be Kamala Harris they really need to vet this woman and her history. There’s a triple murder in San Francisco of a father and his two sons by an illegal that was released from jail that she refused to turn over to ICE. That is NOT going to sit well.

I’m witnessing something in my local area that I’m wondering if it’s nationwide. The places that traditionally hire high school kids are in desperate straits. They can’t find any kids willing to work. They are massively understaffed at all the groceries, fast food places, etc. They are staffed entirely by retirees and adults that can’t find other work. But, the shifts that usually have teenagers can’t find any, so the adults are winding up covering shifts that they wouldn’t normally be working. I’ve talked to a few owners and they say it’s a nightmare trying to find kids to work. They won’t even fill out the applications. Then, when they do get one or two to work, they just keep screwing with their phones all shift and quit after a week or so of work.

I’m just trying to see if this is a nationwide issue.

It’s this. They’ve tipped their hands today on Huffpo, twitter, and facebook.

Huffpo is saying that Trump needed to keep his mouth shut about the Franken thing because he’s the “Harasser in Chief”. Twitter and facebook are going crazy over his tweet about Franken and screaming that Republicans don’t have the moral high ground anymore because they defend the “horrific” behavior of Trump and Moore.

Pretty bad. We got hit hard with meth in the early 2000’s, got a minor handle on it (except on the reservations), then the brief experiment with pot legalization brought in a massive influx of unauthorized dealers and back door deals by the authorized ones, that got driven out, but the meth dealers jumped in to fill the void. So, now we have meth heads running loose everywhere, car thefts, break ins, shootings stabbings, assaults. (Not trying to say there is a crossover between the meth heads and pot dealers because there really weren’t, it’s just the pot shops brought a huge spike in general criminal activity that the meth scum are taking advantage of).

I did find out that the whole work thing is a nationwide thing. Apparently, there were some articles about it back in june.

A local guy here in town is selling a whole bunch of Army surplus AR mags. 8 bucks each 5 for 35. Not that I can afford it at the moment, but is this a good deal? Is there a way to refurbish them? I know from years of experience in the military that they wear out pretty bad. The spring goes to hell and causes misfeeds.

More interesting news out of the Magic Kingdom.

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia issued a ruling forbidding war against the Jews and proclaiming that Hamas is a terror group.

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, issued a surprising religious ruling, saying that fighting against Israel was inappropriate and that Hamas is a “terror organization.”

The Muslim cleric issued the ruling while answering a question on a television program regarding the Palestinian riots surrounding the Temple Mount in July, Turkey’s Anadolu news agency reported.

Israel’s Communications Minister Ayoub Kara welcomed the unexpected decision and invited the Mufti to visit Israel.

“We congratulate Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia as well as the head of Ulema (Islamic scholars), for his fatwa [Muslim religious ruling] forbidding the fight against the Jews and forbidding to kill them,” Kara, a Druze, tweeted on Monday.

“He will be welcomed with a high level of respect,” Kara stated.

This was not the cleric’s only exceptional proclamation. In September 2016, he ruled that Iranians are descendants of Zoroastrians and are therefore “not Muslims.” Their “enmity to Islam, especially the Sunnis, is very old,” he said.

Well, I can’t tell you the EXACT year but it was 1993-1995. He came to D.C. in 93 and Hubby and I moved out of that apt into the house in ’95.
One morning we walked out of our apt to catch the elevator to the garage to go to work. A man walked out of our neighbor’s apt across the hall. We knew her because she was a Hill staffer. He and Hubby nodded to each other after a split sec, and Hubby immediately guided me to the stairs instead of the elevator and we walked down, just in time to see him drive out. Brown. He was not married at the time, but it was the apt of one of his staff.

This is why they are getting pissed whenever one of the idiots breaks ranks and yelps about “impeachment.” They don’t want the voters to be reminded that this is the ultimate goal of retaking the House and Senate.

The only thing that makes me shake my head is – what makes you think the GOP VOTERS aren’t going to Eric Cantor many of those RINO dipshits for standing in Trump’s way? If you aren’t running against an incumbent, you got a problem Jack. Because a non-incumbent is going to remind voters what YOU want to do to the duly elected President. exactly. But allowing trophies provides economic incentive to kill as many as they can and they will wipe them off the face of the earth if allowed.

That’s why poaching needs to have a death sentence in those cases. Actually common sense has little to do with the deaths. The elephants randomly wipe out entire villages in stampedes. It’s not something controllable. It can just be mitigated.

Ya, you don’t go out with a flyswatter and casually shoo a couple dozen 13,000 pound angry elephants away from your village. There are plenty of video’s on youtube showing just how powerful and dangerous the smaller 8 thousand pound Indian Elephants are when they rampage.

I don’t know why they stampede. I know there was one population of young males that got too rowdy because there were no adults to show them the ropes and when that got fixed, the problem was solved. I don’t remember where I read/saw that story.

I do know they like to get drunk. Then, of course, they have the inevitable hangover

In Wankie National Park in Rhodesia / Zimbabwe there were 3000 elephants and that was about 500 too many. So the rangers selectively shot about 300 mature females with 200 newly weaned calves at foot, shipped the calves to other parks and the sustainability of the park was maintained. I was in the rear seat of a VW Ko=mbi van looking for elephants to photograph. We found a herd of 30 females and calves . The matriarch was busy demoloshing a tree but every time we tried to pass, she would get all antsy so we backed off.

Eventually the driver just gunned it and tore past her. She chased us for 150 meters and all I could see out the back window was a VREY BIG pissed off elephant in a full charge! filing the window.

I prayed that the driver didn’t cock up a gear change or I would have had the elephant sitting on my lap in the back seat!

    🙂

Then Mugabe and his boys entered the park and slaughtered a couple of thousand elephants with machine guns…. just because they could… and because Mugabe was running out of former professionally managed white farms and the government wanted to give land at the edges of Wankie Park to former guerrillas leaders to buy their loyalty.

One of those areas where we shall have to agree to disagree. Lions are 400 pounds of pure killing machine. You get within 100 feet of a hungry lion and you have less of a sporting chance of surviving, then the lion does when you’re blasting away at it with your .308 lampua. Unlike you, the lion does not believe in the concept of “A Sporting Chance”.

The Lion is not confused in any way shape or form with regard to who or what it is. Its 400 pounds of the most successful Alpha predator to evolve in Africa in the last 60 million years. Its 400 pounds of the most ruthless merciless efficient killing machine on the African continent.

I am not dazzled or impressed by the lions beauty or grace even in the slightest, its a cold blooded ruthless killer the likes of which make Charlie Manson like like a choirboy. I will not shed a tear if and when all of the big predator cats go extinct. Or the Big predator Dogs otherwise known as Bears either.

Lions and Tiger’s and Bears… Oh my… Ok, shoot them and lets keep gong.

    @ doriangrey:
I respect & love animals like that too much to want them destroyed. Yes, there is some management needed, and you need to respect the hell out of them and what they can do to you.

A few years ago I volunteered to do some cleanup at the local zoo. We were cleaning out between the outer chain link fence (10-12’ high) and the split rail fence alongside the sidewalks by the tiger cage. It was early in the day, and they just let the tigers out for the day. The tigers saw us, but didn’t see that we were outside the fence. Seeing two tigers running towards you, even from behind two large fences, was…impressive. And a little awe inspiring and yes, scary. Magnificent.
