Samantha Guthrie’s sniffles and tears notwithstanding, Matt has been known to be an SOB for years, at least since that Tamara host thing (I think it was Tamara, I don’t watch the show).

Following up on the Lucian Wintrich of Gateway Pundit arrest at UCONN last nite, the ‘girl’ who stole his speech from the podium is actually a prof at the university and he’s been charged with ‘breach of the peace’.

I think he’s got a lawsuit in there somehow.

Chinese investors sue McAuliffe, Rodham over green-car investments

    https://www.politico.com/story/2017/11/28/greentech-automotive-lawsuit-terry-mcauliffe-262771

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s brother Anthony Rodham are facing a $17 million fraud lawsuit from Chinese investors in Greentech Automotive, an electric car company that appears to be struggling to survive.

A group of 32 Chinese citizens filed the suit last week in Fairfax County, Virginia court, claiming that they were swindled out of about $560,000 apiece as a result of misrepresentations made by McAuliffe and Rodham—two of the most prominent and politically connected proponents of the venture aimed at manufacturing electric cars in the U.S.

The suit is yet another headache for McAuliffe as he mulls a potential presidential bid in 2020, buoyed in part by Democrats’ strong showing in the state in the election earlier this month. McAuliffe confirmed last year that his business dealings with foreign nationals were under investigation by the FBI and federal prosecutors.

I did not know McAwful was under FBI investigation. I’m removing him from my list of 2020 Dem contenders.

8:30 this morning the revised numbers for Q3 GDP came out

A report released by the Commerce Department on Wednesday showed stronger than previously estimated U.S. economic growth in the third quarter.

The report said real gross domestic product surged up by an upwardly revised 3.3 percent in the third quarter compared to the originally reported 3.0 percent jump. Economists had expected the increase in GDP to be upwardly revised to 3.2 percent.

Good morning. WIND radio in Chicago had an interesting discussion on Gutierrez announcing that he will
not run for reelection. He said that he wants to spend more time with his family (they always say that):
He also said that he wants to rebuild Puerto Rico. Ok here is the deal, Gutierrez is “associated” with a

because the police investigation found no evidence to bring against anyone.

I don’t know what the coroner’s report said other than to rule it an accident. All I’ve ever heard is that she apparently fell, hit her head and died.

    @ eaglesoars:

“Conversion” is the tort version of the crime of theft. If someone steals from you, your civil cause of action against them for the crime is “conversion” – i.e., they “converted” YOUR property to their use.

….and it appears DG beat me to the response above. I really should read the whole thread sometimes before answering.

That being said, I actually DID sue a little sh*tbag who broke into my home and stole my son’s PlayStation about 15 years ago. He was caught after he jumped the fence into my neighbor’s yard, which was home to a 120-lb. Rottweiler who didn’t take kindly to strangers dropping in. He was a minor, 17, so he snotted that I couldn’t sue him (which is true). I got his birthdate and served the little creep in jail on his 18th birthday. Collected $300 in actual damages and $2000 in punitives. He snotted to me “try and collect it” – I diverted his STATE and FEDERAL tax returns for three years (California Franchise Tax Board will request diversion on your behalf from the Feds to satisfy an unpaid judgment over 1 year old).

This is just a very weird day. After all the CNN posturing about not going to the WH Christmas party, April Ryan, who piled on the Sarah Sanders pie-gate thing, is whining she didn’t get an invite.

April Ryan, the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks and a CNN contributor, told the Post she was not invited for the first time in 20 years covering the White House. “I don’t think I was overlooked,” she said. “I think they don’t like me. Now the green-lipped Comrades are falling all over themselves to make excuses for Eon as he grins and saunters to the bank to lock away his ill gotten gains.

Just in case you thought digital currency is ready to be the new ‘thing’:

Coinbase ordered to report 14,355 users to the IRS

    ——————–
Today, Coinbase suffered a major defeat at the hands of the Internal Revenue Service, nearly a year after the case was initially filed. A California federal court has ordered Coinbase to turn over identifying records for all users who have bought, sold, sent, or received more than $20,000 through their accounts in a single year. Coinbase estimates that 14,355 users meet the government’s requirements. The full order is embedded below.
    —————–

    https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2017/11/29/16717416/us-coinbase-irs-records

Note that it’s not single transactions of $20k or more, it’s cumulative over a 1 yr period, e.g., $2k a month. That’s a lot different than the auto hold a $10k transaction in ‘ordinary’ currency is subject to.

this just landed in my inbox from my sister and I just had to post it. Garrison Keillor on Trump about 5-6 weeks ago, right after Manafort was indicted.

    Donald Trump is done

People who voted for him are humiliated. So his ratings have tanked. The same people who admire him tend to drive Dodge Darts and wear sweatshirts from schools they didn’t attend. Nobody stays in his hotels except foreign CEOs and their tootsies. He is weak. Weak on #s, weak on 1st Amendment, worst president in history. Failed @ real estate and now @ politics. His record = BAD. First president in my lifetime who DOES NOT KNOW the words to “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The lips are not even moving.

He quit holding rallies in stadiums because nobody wants to go hear a loser brag about his manliness for an hour, you can hear that in any barroom. Only places he can draw a crowd are rural areas where billboards are riddled with bullet holes, shot by men angry because they can’t read. He is so over. Totally irrelevant, exhausted, flamed out. The sleepytime eyes and la-di-da hair and the tweet-tweet-tweet say it all. Real men don’t tweet. Ask anybody. We bark, we protest, we thunder, condemn, denounce, we give ’em hell, sometimes we post. Wimps tweet. And now the perps are going to start walking and talking. And the fat lady is waiting in the wings.

    Of course it is.

Although the three flat-top carrier task force has now been reduced to two as one leaves the 7th Fleet AO for the Persian Gulf and the two remaining flat top Battle Groups are bobbing about off Guam right about now. So the Big-Stick has been partially put away for now. Having the capability to enforce a naval blockade is a whole different ball of wax from ACTUALLY ENFORCING a blockade especially when the ships stopped belong to nuclear powers like China and Russia.

Then we have the land borders and especially the Southern border with China across which trains run. Blockading land borders means destroying the rail infrastructure whilst not killing any wandering Chinese in the process. A more exquisite and sophisticated response would be to convince the Chinese that they have more to lose than to gain and allow them to turn off the NORKO tap. There will always be some ‘leakage’ but it’s possible to shut down the NORKS, especially when the harvest is such a disaster this year. Still ‘rocket man’ doesn’t give a shit if millions die as long as his army and techs have full bellies.

To be clear, Musk has said if he’d failed it would have cost him $50 mil. There’s no indication of how the loss would have been recognized. Is it the amount of money it would have cost him to build the place w/o compensation from So. Australia? Or is it the contract price he would not have been paid for losing the ‘bet’? Don’t know. But in either case, we know he was paid AT LEAST $50 mil.

Did he build according to contract spec? Don’t know that either as we don’t know if the contract was written using actual numbers or just ‘we need battery storage to avoid the situation we experienced the last time’. In either case, what was wanted, correctly specified or not, was batteries that would prevent the blackouts they had.

But as the chart shows, what Musk provided won’t do that. Are the idiot customers to blame? In part, yes. But let’s change things around a bit. You have just had serious property damage inflicted by a hurricane and you’ve hired a contractor to provide hurricane shutters that can withstand a storm of the magnitude you just experienced. You find a contractor who promises he can deliver what you want – whether you’ve expressed ‘want’ in technical or prose terms – and promises that if he doesn’t have them installed by a date certain, you get them for free. He gets them installed well before deadline, and everybody’s happy. Then the next year, you get another hurricane of the same magnitude you had last year and the shutters disintegrate. They weren’t strong enough. Who is at fault? Well, maybe you got the specs wrong somehow, but the deal is that contractor is the professional and HE KNEW what he was providing would not give you the protection you asked for. YOU may not have understood but HE’S A GENIUS and he did. The chart provided in the lead article shows very clearly exactly what those batteries can do and it is not what So. Australia needs. Don’t tell me boy genius didn’t know it.

    That’s the scam.

Lib Rag Newsweek: Trump Could Be Impeached For “Slurring” Elizabeth Warren As “Pocahontas”…
President Donald Trump not only provoked outrage in referring to Senator Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas” at an event honoring Navajo veterans at the White House Monday. He may have further helped build the case for his impeachment: Abuse of Congress once formed part of the case to remove a president.

One of the articles of impeachment against Andrew Johnson, one of only two presidents to be impeached, accused him of using “intemperate, inflammatory and scandalous harangues…and loud threats and bitter menaces…against Congress.”Lib

Trump was swiftly condemned by Warren for using what she described as a “racial slur.” Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez described the term similarly. The White House, however, denied it was a racial slur and instead doubled down on the attack on Warren, claiming that she had lied about her Native American heritage to advance her career, something that Warren has denied.

Trump’s comment does not rise to the level of the accusations against Johnson, a Democrat thrust into battle with a Republican-controlled Congress following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. While it would not be enough on its own to qualify as a case for impeachment, said Allan Lichtman, a political historian at American University, it could bolster the case against Trump.

“That could be a part of an article of impeachment,” Lichtman, the author of a book on Trump titled The Case for Impeachment, told Newsweek Tuesday. “After all, you could couple that with his very intemperate attacks on the judiciary. Combine that with his attacks on the free press. You could couple all of that together and create a fairly powerful article of impeachment.”

A terrible harvest and what looks like the start of a cold winter means that without massive imports of grain and oil ‘rocketman’s ‘ regime implodes. Reports about even elite military on reduced rations means that the average NORK is facing starvation and cold. This makes Un is therefore VERY dangerous as he’s capable of the ‘Sampson’ protocol and attempting to destroy his enemies as his regime is destroyed. This is simply Democrats and liberals desperate for an impeachment of a Republican President as payback for bringing impeachment against Clinton – you know, for PERJURY – which in fact did result in him losing his law license.

Dana Perino is an idiot. Talking about Trump’s tweet to Theresa May she said ‘Britain First’ is an extremist group here. No, it’s the jihadis that are the extremists. Then she said he retweeted it and there was no need to. Obviously she is unaware that the first tweet was mis-addressed to he wrong Theresa May. Then she did the ‘fake but accurate’. No, Bubbles, the videos weren’t fake, the incidents were mis-attributed to immigrants

    Yup !

I’m skeptical as well. About 12 weeks ago Coldwarrior forecast a six months mean survival timeframe so McCain is already half way there and shouldn’t begin any serials that extend past February. That doesn’t allow for being debilitated for the terminal phase either so I’m guessing that he will not be back to Congress in the New Year.

There appears to be a bit of political jockeying going on in regards to various legislative programs, with the McCain people attempting to play their cards close to their chests. We all know McCain has just a busted flush !

The United States has formally told the World Trade Organization (WTO) that it opposes granting China market economy status, a position that if upheld would allow Washington to maintain high anti-dumping duties on Chinese goods.

The statement of opposition, made public on Thursday, was submitted as a third-party brief in support of the European Union in a dispute with China that could have major repercussions for the trade body’s future

No.”Felony murder” is a charge used against an accomplice in a felony that results in the death of someone (for example, the getaway driver in a bank robbery). Even if the death was unintentional, and the accomplice didn’t know it happened, he’s still considered just as guilty.

The law is that if you USE a gun in the commission of a crime, 10 years are tacked on to your sentence. This scumbag claimed that he “found” the gun, dropped it, it went off and killed her. Jury bought it. The mean girl in me wants every damn one of them to die PAINFULLY.

This jury wanted to find a way to acquit him. The family can of course bring a civil suit against him for wrongful death, but money does not bring your loved one back. Fred Goldman never cared about the money in his civil suit – what he wanted to hear was a jury hold that monster Simpson responsible. His attempts to collect it are not based in enrichment, but to keep him from profiting from his wrongdoing.

If I were the family, I would explore the possibility of suing the City and County of San Francisco, whose illegal sanctuary city policy prevented this monster from being turned over to ICE for deportation after his release from prison. “But for” these policies, he would not have been in a position to kill Ms. Steinle.

This isn’t the first outrageous disregard for the law verdict a San Francisco Jury has come up with. In 1979, a jury found Dan White guilty of “Involuntary Manslaughter” of Mayor Moscone and Supervisor Milk – in spite of the fact that he entered City Hall via a basement window to avoid metal detectors, and reloaded the gun after he killed Moscone.

And I repeat – every one of you 12 – DIE painfully.

Kate Steinle case: not guilty on murder

The defendant has prior felonies. It is a felony for him to process a firearm, so isn’t any death as a result of that felony
a felony murder, or do I remember that wrong?

No.”Felony murder” is a charge used against an accomplice in a felony that results in the death of someone (for example, the getaway driver in a bank robbery). Even if the death was unintentional, and the accomplice didn’t know it happened, he’s still considered just as guilty.

Legal jargon alert — part of what is known as the “vicarious conspiracy rule.”

Judge Nap sez when Flynn pleads, we’ll see a written agreement between him and Mueller outlining exactly what Flynn will do for Mueller and what Mueller will not do to Flynn.

    @ coldwarrior:

And I am working on Sunday’s as we speak. I’m looking forward to participating in your thread tomorrow.

I’m going to stay off Twitter today. Shannon Watts using the verdict to promote gun control may result in my requiring heavy medication. Or commitment.

So Flynn is going to testify that Trump directed him to contact the Russians? Is there something wrong with this?

ok, if this was done while Trump was a candidate – that’s a violation of the Logan Act.
