Awwwwww, Poor Snowflakes.

These are Snowflakes born bereft of a sense of irony:

Don’t call us snowflakes – it damages our mental health, say young people

Being called a “snowflake” is damaging to mental health, young people say.  Figures show that the majority of young people think the term is unfair – and even more think it could have a negative effect of its own.

The “snowflake generation” is a disparaging term now commonly used to refer to young people, who are perceived to be over-sensitive and intolerant of disagreement.

But research by insurance firm Aviva found that 72 per cent of 16-24 year-olds think the term is unfairly applied, while 74 per cent think it could have a negative effect on young people’s mental health.

The figures also show that young people are more likely to have experienced stress, anxiety and depression in the last year.

Perhaps someone could start a Gofundme account to help cure this disease, Snowflakeitis. Please help now.

One small group calls itself “Dumbledore’s Army,” according to two of the people who were familiar with their discussions. The name is a reference to a secret resistance force in the “Harry Potter” books.

So Obama just compared Trump to Hitler. Not. Kidding.

The danger is “grow(ing) complacent,” Obama said. “We have to tend to this garden of democracy or else things could fall apart quickly.”

That’s what happened in Germany in the 1930s which, despite the democracy of the Weimar Republic and centuries of high-level cultural and scientific achievements, Adolph Hitler rose to dominate, Obama noted. “Sixty million people died. . . .So, you’ve got to pay attention. And vote.”

yep, vote early, vote often, vote even if you’re not a citizen

you’re referring to the expected Franken resignation, I presume. If Franken doesn’t go, they’ve go nuthin’ to attack Roy Moore with.

Re: the Jerusalem thing: If you hear that what Trump signed at the end of the speech was the standard 6 mos waiver that precludes moving the embassy to Jerusalem – that is true, he did. But what they’re not telling you is that if he didn’t, automatic cuts hit the State Dept. so there’s no doublespeak here, he’s protecting the funding and the speech was an absolute declaration.

    Trump impeachment vote fails overwhelmingly
The measure drew the support of 58 House Democrats.

House Democrats overwhelmingly joined Republicans on Wednesday to defeat an attempt to impeach President Donald Trump. But 58 Democrats supported the bid to consider impeachment over the objections of House Democratic leaders, who viewed the measure as a distraction in a Republican-controlled Congress.

The motion to sideline the measure — killing the effort — was approved 364-58, with four Democrats voting present.

The vote was forced by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who introduced articles of impeachment describing Trump as a bigot who incites hate and has demeaned the presidency.

“Donald John Trump, by causing such harm to the society of the United States is unfit to be president and warrants impeachment, trial and removal from office,” Green said on the House floor as he introduced the articles.

But Green, a seven-term, Houston-area lawmaker, said his conscience compelled him to push forward with the measure, even though he acknowledged he was unlikely to succeed.

“Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment,” Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer said in a joint statement, shortly after Green introduced his articles of impeachment.

The White House quickly dismissed the effort, labeling Green and his allies “extremists.”

“It’s disappointing that extremists in Congress still refuse to accept the President’s decisive victory in last year’s election,” spokesman Raj Shah said in a statement. “Their time would be better spent focusing on tax relief for American families and businesses, and working to fund our troops and veterans through the holiday season rather than threaten a government shutdown.”

Sheetz tests new lighting to deter heroin addicts

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Sheetz is testing out blue lighting in one location’s restrooms to deter heroin addicts from shooting up in the convenience stores.
The blue lights are designed to prevent people from finding their veins, according to the convenience store’s corporate office.
Police in Altoona said they do see overdoses in public restrooms about once or twice a month, but people overdose more often in cars and parking lots.
Like many people in Altoona, Tiffany Reed said she finds herself at Sheetz just about everyday. She said she’d hate to have people using drugs in the restrooms.
“I have little cousins, and if they would walk into a bathroom and see someone shooting up with a needle, I couldn’t imagine,” Reed said.
Jan Mills Sr, another Sheetz customer, said he’s not sure how big of a dent the lights will make in the overall problem of addiction.
“They’ll do drugs everyplace,” he said.
For Sheetz, he thinks it might at least keep their bathrooms safer for customers and staff.
“I don’t think it’ll work. I can understand Sheetz not wanting it to occur and if that drives them away, fine, but I don’t think it’s going to do it,” Mills said.
Sheetz public relations manager Nick Ruffner released a statement Tuesday.
“One of our highest priorities at Sheetz is creating a safe and secure environment for our customers and employees,” he said. “The light system in the restrooms at this New Kensington store (Westmoreland County) is designed to help our customers and employees avoid dangerous situations.
“This system is being tested at just this store for the time being, and it is too early to see the full results at this time or to discuss any plans to expand this test.”

House Republicans on Wednesday voted in favor of making concealed-carry permits valid across state lines, scoring a major victory for gun-rights supporters.

But similar Senate legislation still faces an uncertain future, with top Democrats and other gun-control advocates rallying in opposition on Capitol Hill.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act passed 231-198 in the GOP-controlled House, with six Democrats voting in support.

“For the millions of law-abiding citizens who lawfully carry concealed to protect themselves, for conservatives who want to strengthen our Second Amendment rights, and for the overwhelming majority of Americans who support concealed carry reciprocity, Christmas came early,” Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., the bill’s sponsor, reacted.

Hudson had tried unsuccessfully for years to pass such legislation, which he says simply attempts to clarify the patchwork of state laws that confuse citizens who might unwittingly be arrested while going from state to state.

The three-term congressman has garnered strong support for his bipartisan legislation — including 213 co-sponsors as well as 24 state attorneys general and the National Rifle Association.

“Despite scare tactics by the bill’s opponents, concealed-carry licensees as a group have proven to be more law-abiding than the general population and even the police,” the NRA said before balloting. “We are on the eve of passing the most expansive piece of self-defense legislation in the history of Congress.”[…]

Gun-control advocates are also reportedly getting $25 million from ex-New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, through his Everytown for Gun Safety group, to block the reciprocity bill.

Cornyn’s bill is now in his chamber’s Judiciary Committee.

In 2013, Cornyn got support for his bill from 13 Democrats, including seven who are still in the Senate. He would need their support and more to pass the measure with a 60-vote majority, considering Republicans have 52 senators in the chamber.

wow. this was released about an hour an a half ago (people really ARE working late). The DOJ has switched sides in a court case about allowing public employee unions to collect dues from non-members. Now they want it stopped. The CFPB is one big slush fund that Trump is going to shut down, the EPA’s grant system was another, the DOJ civil rights division is another and so is the public employees unions sector.

Trump is cutting off their blood supply.

The Saudis are RUNNING OUT OF WATER.

Not drinking water but bulk industrial water. They can’t industrialise because they are down to 23% of ‘historical water. That’s water from deep cisterns that take 200-400 years to replenish. They’ve burned through them in just two generations.

Top DOJ official demoted amid probe of contacts with Trump dossier firm

Until Wednesday morning, Bruce G. Ohr held two titles at DOJ: associate deputy attorney general, a post that placed him four doors down from his boss, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein; and director of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a program described by the department as “the centerpiece of the attorney general’s drug strategy.”

Ohr will retain his OCDETF title but has been stripped of his higher post and ousted from his office on the fourth floor of “Main Justice.”

Initially senior department officials could not provide the reason for Ohr’s demotion, but Fox News has learned that evidence collected by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), chaired by Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., indicates that Ohr met during the 2016 campaign with Christopher Steele, the former British spy who authored the “dossier.”

It hasn’t been cleared in a lot longer than a “Couple” of years. It takes decades of underbrush growth to fuel the fires you are seeing in L.A right now. Remember, this is Southern California, even relatively lust area’s like the Los Angeles basin are still desert ecosystems.

Grass grows practically by the hour, but the scrub oak and Manzanita that covers our canyon hillsides do not. They actually grow quiet slowly. Those “Bushes” you see growing on the hillsides that are on fire, those are typically 10 to 15 feet tall and 20 to 25 feet in diameter. (They look soo much smaller than they actually are)

After a good fire burns through, it take 10 years or more before they grow back enough that they do not show very obvious signs of having been burnt. The last really big fire in L.A was in 2007, and you can be pretty certain that if any of the area’s now burning were burnt back then, they have not been cleared since then.

The area’s that are burning, yea, Greenweeine super Enviro-Nazi territory.

Every business is owned by Saudis, but they only employ third country nationals. I could not find a single Saudi employee anywhere that I went in the country. One of the legacies of their royal family spoil system is that nobody really knows how to do anything right, including engineering something the Romans figured out thousands of yrs ago. They’re fucked six ways to Sunday and they’ve got about a generation to fix it

    Seriously?

Do you really believe that the Saudis have the capability to fix this?

    They’re Saudis!

    🙂

OK… OK they can buy in capability but their economy is NOT looking stable anymore and they have spent up big time fighting an un-winnable war in Yemen. Potable water is not the problem. Industrial water is . They can buy in Israeli technology but that makes their industrial water very expensive just as their economy is heading into the shitter.

Frankly it couldn’t happen to a more ‘Stirling’ bunch of camel-jockies.

They Persians must be laughing up a storm closely followed by the Hashemites who are giggling behind their hands

    🙂

did you see the email I sent you about that? anyhoo –

re: water. I used to do a lot of water research and it is their achilles heel. right after 9/11 when we all wanted to nuke Mecca, I realized a better tactic would be to take out their desalination plants.

I never looked for a source to give me their industrial reqs, but I did look for ag reqs and they were about as transparent as what you’d expect from the Chinese. But there was abundant evidence that they’re running short, e.g., the wheat production and buying ag land abroad.

[why does Laura Ingraham have Wesley Clark on her show? The guy is a disgrace]

Can they fix it? I think they can delay collapse around this until a new fault line shows up. I cannot seem to get a solid picture of how the war in Yemen is going, but if S.A. is invaded by Iranian proxies – and the Iranians would do it gladly, I believe – then it’s all moot

I found out yesterday around noon that they’d scheduled me for a second interview today at 9 for the Quality position I interviewed for a few weeks ago. Of course I’d requested PTO for the day so I’ll head across town for a phone or Skype interview and maybe an Excel test.

I know at least one other person is interviewing. She didn’t apply at first since they told her she couldn’t because she was in a training class- the same one I was in. I know where I am with Excel. She could be ahead of me or behind me. Don’t know her experience either.

Training for this project starts Monday.

The problem with that theory is: then why didn’t Contreras recuse himself in the beginning? Why wait until the sentencing phase? someone suggested last nite when I asked that maybe Flynn’s lawyers never knew about his FISA position until now but I find that untenable. If you’ve ever been involved in a legal case, you know that lawyers make it their business to know everything they can about the judge trying the case.

That is a bullshit headline. She admitted to no such thing. She said she added the date and location notation. As far as I’m concerned that’s beside the point. The point is – what prompted her to call a presser about this now?

I’ve been running around all day but what I’ve managed to catch

CNN said that someone offered the Trump campaign access to hacked DNC stuff on wiki that was unpublished and gave them the decrypt key

Assange called bullshit and laid down a $100k marker

At 1 pm WaPo publishes that the wiki data offered to the campaign had been published the day before – nothing unpublished involved

David Gregory, aka “CNN’s resident gibbon’ apparently declared that this is the evidence that will point to the nexus of collusion but as of 1:10 pm, they’ve shut up about it and no retraction yet
