Looks like things are getting real in Iran. And maybe something odd that I haven’t chased down. Jordan has arrested 3 in a coup attempt – backed by Saudi Arabia? I don’t believe that, I don’t know what’s up with that.

Oh and by the way, learned from Mark Steyn yesterday on the Rush Limbaugh show that Trump’s approval ratings are EXACTLY the same as Obama’s at this point in his Presidency. And Obama had a fawning press whereas Trump has war waging on two fronts domestically. I think when people see those paychecks after 2/1/18 they are going to be going PFFT. Even Black and Hispanic employment is on the rise. Oblahblah only cared about how many he could keep on welfare.

State Dept on Iran – they’re treading lightly here

The U.S. strongly condemns the arrest of peaceful protesters. We urge all nations to publicly support the Iranian people & their demands for basic rights & an end to corruption.”

I don’t know if this means anything – but the last time – the ‘green revolution’ – the gov’t shut down all cell communication, etc. That doesn’t seem to be happening this time, there’s a lot of stuff getting out of the country. So either the technology has outrun the gov’t ability to contain it – or the security service responsible for interdicting it is refusing to do so. Or something else I haven’t thought of.

Interesting that “The Post” has been in 9 theaters since 12/22 and has grossed about $1.2MM. I’ll assume this is in major metropolitan areas where #TheResistance will be flocking to it. I also assume this early release in 2017 was so Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks could garner Oscar nominations for Spielberg’s “this is why the press is SO important” diatribe. I’ve seen the ads – sorry, but Jason Robards Jr. is the ultimate Ben Bradlee – Hanks looks like a Grandpa with his pants hiked up too high. And Streep will probably bring all the authenticity to Katie Graham that she did to Julia Child.

It goes into general realase on January 11th, the day before “the Commuter”, which is a thriller, is released. And I’ll imagine Star Wars will still be major box office at the time. And let’s not forget that Streep and Hanks have pretty much, by their antics and their words, DOOMED this movie in Trump country. The budget was $50 million. I say the only way it even gets it back is liberal schools forcing kids to sit through this.

And ah yes, the taglines…..”this coverup spanned four Presidents…” Yeah, and THREE of them were Democrats. But you watch – somehow they are going to find a way to make it all about Nixon, who had NOTHING to do with it.

Oh and can someone tell me exactly WHAT publishing the Pentagon Papers actually accomplished, other than to plague us with that phrase “The people have a right to know” that apparently means something entirely different when a Democrat is in office?

Classified documents among newly released Huma Abedin emails found on Weiner’s laptop

The State Department Friday released a trove of emails from Huma Abedin that the feds discovered on her husband Anthony Weiner’s laptop — including at least five that were marked as “classified.”

Most of the emails were heavily redacted because they contained classified material — but one that was sent on Nov. 25 2010 was addressed to “Anthony Campaign,” an apparent address belonging to Weiner.

The message contained a list of talking points for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was prepping to make a call to Prince Saud of Saudi Arabia to warn him about sensitive documents that had been given to WikiLeaks by then-Army intelligence officer Bradley Manning.

“I deeply regret the likely upcoming WikiLeaks disclosure,” read one of the talking points.

“This appears to be the result of an illegal act in which a fully cleared intelligence officer stole information and gave it to a website. The person responsible will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law” the message continued.

“This is the kind of information we fear may be released: details of private conversations with your government on Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.”

State was expected to dump roughly 2,800 emails as a result of a court case won by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch.

This is a major victory,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, said in a statement.

“After years of hard work in federal court, Judicial Watch has forced the State Department to finally allow Americans to see these public documents.”

He said the discovery of the emails underscores the need for the Justice Department to investigate Clinton and Abedin’s use of a private email server to conduct classified government business.

“That these government docs were on Anthony Weiner’s laptop dramatically illustrates the need for the Justice Department to finally do a serious investigation of Hillary Clinton’s and Huma Abedin’s obvious violations of law.”

New Year’s Eve Party In Berlin To Have ‘Safe Zone’ For Women

Organisers of Berlin’s New Year’s Eve celebrations are to set up a “safe zone” for women for the first time.

The new security measures planned for the Brandenburg Gate party come amid concerns about sexual assaults.

A large number of assaults and robberies targeting women at Cologne’s New Year’s Eve celebrations two years ago horrified Germany.

Hundreds of women reported being attacked by gangs of men with migrant backgrounds.

The events in Cologne heightened tensions in the country over the large influx of refugees and migrants – 1.1m people arrived in Germany in 2015, some, but by no means all, fleeing violence in Syria and Iraq.

Bill Nye: Blue States Will ‘Impose Economic Sanctions’ Against Climate Change-Denying States

Friday on MSNBC, climate activist Bill Nye warned conservatives to “watch out,” saying progressive blue states will “address climate change” on their own.

Nye said, “Only 40 percent of people in the U.S. think that Congress should be addressing this and that’s because certain conservative groups, especially from the fossil fuel industry, have been very successful in introducing the idea that scientific uncertainty, plus or minus two percent, is the same as plus or minus 100 percent.”

He continued, “There’s a lot of emphasis from conservatives on what are writ-large states rights. Just watch out, conservatives, if states rights include California, Illinois, New York — these places that, where people voted in a progressive fashion — watch out if all those places start to address climate change and then impose economic sanctions, either overtly or by default, on places that have not embraced the work that needs to be done. Then you’ll end up with this states rights working the other way.”

Hep A is near-epidemic levels in Cali sanctuary cities, leprosy just popped up in a school, TB…the fire dept has to hose down the streets to get rid of human waste. The ‘sanctions’ have already begun, but they’re in the other direction. These places are self-destructing and the only question is whether the refugees will be allowed to re-settle in places that require people to not use the streets as toilets

Don’t know if anyone saw Lindsay Graham on Tucker’s show. He’s pissed. He said he wants a special counsel because he now knows what the FBI did with the dossier and altho he couldn’t go into specifics, he said a prosecutor is supposed to be truthful about evidence and the FBI wasn’t. So, he basically said the FBI used the dossier to justify the FISA warrant.

Bret Stephens writes in the New York Times that even though he is happy with the policy achievements of the Trump Administration in its first year, he will never support Donald Trump because he is offended by the president’s personality:

“Tax cuts. Deregulation. More for the military; less for the United Nations. The Islamic State crushed in its heartland. Assad hit with cruise missiles. Troops to Afghanistan. Arms for Ukraine. A tougher approach to North Korea. Jerusalem recognized as Israel’s capital. The Iran deal decertified. Title IX kangaroo courts on campus condemned. Yes to Keystone. No to Paris. Wall Street roaring and consumer confidence high.

And, of course, Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court. What, for a conservative, is there to dislike about this policy record as the Trump administration rounds out its first year in office?

That’s the question I keep hearing from old friends on the right who voted with misgiving for Donald Trump last year and now find reasons to like him. I admit it gives me pause. I agree with every one of the policy decisions mentioned above. But I still wish Hillary Clinton were president.”

Is Trump admin giving up on Pakistan? US to deny military aid worth $255 million

The fresh move by the Donald Trump administration reflects its complete disillusionment with Pakistan, which had sought to brazenly disregard the explicit warnings issued by the US President personally and leading members of his cabinet.

The Trump administration on Friday announced the United States will deny Pakistan military aid amounting to $255 million as it expects Islamabad to take decisive action “against terrorists and militants on its soil”.

“The United States does not plan to spend the $255 million in FY 2016 in Foreign Military Financing for Pakistan at this time,” said a spokesperson of the President’s National Security Council in a statement to Hindustan Times.

“The President has made clear that the United States expects Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorists and militants on its soil, and that Pakistan’s actions in support of the South Asia Strategy will ultimately determine the trajectory of our relationship, including future security assistance.

“The Administration continues to review Pakistan’s level of cooperation.”

The statement reflected and sealed the administration’s complete disillusionment with Pakistan, which had sought to brazenly disregard the explicit warnings issued by President Donald Trump personally and leading members of his cabinet, such as secretaries James Mattis and Rex Tillerson.

“This could be the severest blow dealt to Islamabad by this administration if it indeed decided to withhold it,” said a leading US expert on Pakistan, who did not want to be identified. “There is more coming,” the expert added.

The amount, $255 million, is left over from $1.1 billion aid earmarked for Pakistan in 2016, and which included non-military aid as well. It was cleared for handing over in August, just days before it would lapsed as unspent money.

    http://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/trump-finally-gives-up-on-pakistan-cuts-military-aid-worth-255-million/story-XCbEXK3C9s7w4vN1nye7gN.html

I’ll never forget Stephens et. al. cautioning us all about Obama’s character when he invited that rapper who had just released an album using an assassinated POTUS as cover art, or all the visits to the WH by the Muslim Brotherhood, and oh, yes, Reverend Wright’s comment that the Jews wouldn’t allow Obama to invite HIM to the WH, or the time Obama made the Dali Lama use the dumpster entrance – but hey, at least he got IN – or the time he left Bibi sitting in the Oval while he had dinner w/his family but didn’t invite Bibi to join them – but of course none of that compares to Trump’s ‘equivocal’ comment on Charlottesville which said nothing more than ‘there were some good people there’.

I’m so impressed with the moral clarity these betters provide that I cannot wait to hear how appeasement of the mullahs with nuclear weapons they will undoubtedly use to wipe Israel off the map was the wiser course than staying the fuck out of the way as their own people shed their blood trying to overthrow them.

    Iran update.

They’ve started to shut down communications avenues now, and there’s considerably more violence. Some fatalities but I really can’t get a good fix. It certainly doesn’t sound like the all-out kill-them-all method used in 2009 (remember the Basij on the motorbikes?) but they are starting to crack down.

The Obama media cohort are running gov’t provided video. I can see both and compare to what CNN is putting up so it’s obvious. They are consistently putting out the warning that any expressed support for the protestors will be used by the gov’t to say that the protestors are CIA pawns, etc. In other words, shut up.

    One very odd thing.

General Qasem Soleimani meets Qom grand Shia scholars

An article, dated Dec 28, w/an undated photo. Soleimani WAS the head of the Revolutionary Guards. There is a ton of evidence that says he was killed in Syria (in early December I believe) and they’ve been trying to hide it. I’ve seen pictures purporting to show him – and it’s a life-size GI Joe mannequin. No joke.

So on Dec 28 they were already feeling the heat and hauled out the dead guy.

Did you know there is an exception to attorney-client privilege? Me neither.

under the crime-fraud exception to that privilege, communications are not deemed confidential if they are in furtherance of a crime, fraud, or civil wrong — which includes a scheme to dupe the government or undermine an investigation

Andrew McCarthy explains it and suggests it be used against the Clintonistas. Cheryl Mills gets to testify before a grand jury……

    Thanks much.

Yea, basically. 4k Capable TV’s are exactly that. Capable of displaying 4k High definition images. But before they can do so, they must have a source for those 4k signals.

I am going to assume that you already realize that this probably means a change in your service provider contract/bundle. Having a 4k capable TV and the correct HDMI cable connected to a device (Cable modem, TV box, DVD player whatever) capable of delivering that 4k signal gets you exactly…. Half way there. Now you need a source for that 4k content. That will depend on where you obtain your TV service.

    For example; Amazon FireWire

    @ eaglesoars:

The Clintons have relied heavily on bogus attorney-client privilege claims forever.

Whenever they were going to discuss something illegal in meetings at the Clinton White House, they would send everyone out of the room who wasn’t a lawyer. They then thought they could claim attorney-client privilege if anyone asked about it later.

Totally bogus claim, of course. The simple fact that one party to a criminal conspiracy has a law degree doesn’t grant them any magic powers.

CNN is getting slammed for its coverage or lack thereof – of the protests in Iran.

Here is a Jan 18 2017 interview of Jeff Zucker w/NY Mag

there’s only one television network that is seen in Beijing, Moscow, Seoul, Tokyo, Pyongyang, Baghdad, Tehran, and Damascus — and that’s CNN.

So, this is all about access. If they don’t toe the gov’t line, they get kicked out.

Wasn’t that Jason Eason’s rationale for sucking up to Saddam for years?

Wisconsin beating the Miami Correctional Facilty 24 to 14 at the half.
With less than a minute left in the half the Miami coach pitches a fit on the side line laying hands on the ref.
He draws a 15 yd penalty but no ejection! the rule is clear , he should have been ejected.
This is Miami, even the coach is a punk.

NatGeo has published its “Best Photos of 2017” that I was so looking forward to. Out of 2 million pics, they chose 57.

And it REEKS of political correctness. 2 are of transgendered CHILDREN – two! – and one of Obama snorkeling. I counted maybe 8 that deserve to be on the list.

Francis Townsend, Nat. Sec. chick is retweeting this and I trust her judgement.

#BREAKING NEWS: Protesters have gained full control of the city of Kashan, Iran; they also captured police stations and weapons within that city.

there are some interesting videos in the thread.

Maybe I’ll look more into cutting the cord and streaming.

The more that I think about this, this is more than him being a dumb@$$ — this is truly evil If Hillary were president, not only would none of those things have happened, the exact opposite would have happened to the detriment of our economic security and at the cost of more of our freedoms. That is pure out and out elitism where he lives in a bubble such that he knows nothing will really impact his life, but he gives not a single care to the impacts on regular citizens of this country.

That’s because it makes no difference to him.

He believes to the core that he and his ilk are above policy.

It’s disgusting, but I fear a very widespread notion among all of the counties surrounding DC and most of the I-95 corridor.

    @ AZfederalist:

not to mention that the supposed violation of the national virtue credited to Trump’s lack of character would apparently have remained intact if we had a POTUS; with American blood on her hands; who SOLD Special Access Programs information [that she was not cleared to possess] to our enemies in return for donations to the Clinton Foundation; who employed as her closest aide a woman who is clearly owned by the Muslim Brotherhood; who made every effort to destroy the victims of her husband’s sexual assaults; and who has a truly remarkable list of enemies who have conveniently died under mysterious circumstances.

Obviously, this is not about ‘character’. This is about the basest class snobbery AND from the male of the nevertrump species, sexual insecurity. There is nothing more self-gratifying than to find a cohort you can hold in contempt and have it validated throughout your entire life. To discover that said cohort not only does not envy you, does not aspire to be you, but holds you in even deeper contempt, is literally world-shattering. Donald Trump is a 70 yr old man who by all rights should be fading quietly into his gilded dotage. Instead, he stomps across the world stage with testosterone-fueled energy accompanied by one of the world’s most beautiful women, and they’ve always known that “Make America Great Again” is code for “Kiss My Ass”.

He has shown them that they’re not what they were so sure they are and that they never were and never will be.

They really, really, really, do not matter at all.

bedtime. The latest I’ve heard on Iran – and no way to verify if it’s correct or just people jumping up and down – there appears to be an unusual number of flights with no call signs leaving the country. Flights w/no call signs are not unknown, they usually are transporting stuff for Syria, i.e., military efforts. It’s just that the volume tonight is striking some observers as unusual.

Happy New Year homies. Here is the video of Miami Coach Mark Richt grabbing an official.
This just pulled a 15 yard penalty , not an ejection. But Karma, it set up a Wisconsin touchdown.
At a reputable university this would at least pull a suspension, and I will bet at Northwestern a dismissal.
