Interesting happenings in Utah…

Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney failed to secure the Utah Republican Party’s nomination for Senate on Saturday, triggering a June primary.

In the final round of voting at the party’s convention, state Rep. Mike Kennedy (R) won 50.88 percent of the vote, with Romney following with 49.12 percent.

It appears the the Mormon Mafia may not have TOTAL CONTROL over Utah after all. Their Boy, the Bastard Economic Vampire, lost to Doctor Mike Kennedy. Now there will be a primary.

Not to mention that nobody seems to be bailing out Evan McMuffin, who looks like he’s taking whatever monies came in and pocketing them instead of paying staff and vendors. Not a good look.

Don’t know anything about Mike Kennedy and have no predictions about this race, but nothing about the predicted ‘blue wave’ makes sense to me. Behind the scenes, I can tell you Ryan is making excuses about not getting anything done (not quite fair, he did get stuff done) on the Freedom Caucus. Fuck him. McCarthy may be better with them than Ryan, he’s been lining up votes for 2 mos when Ryan told him about his plans.

The problem won’t be on the house side, it will be on the Senate and we HAVE to get rid of McCain. He’s lied to McConnell about how he plans to vote and I suspect Romney will be all too happy to conspire with McCain to block Trump. The fact that Romney tried to reassure people that he’ll support Trump tells me I’m not the only one who doesn’t trust him.

This is good. Starbucks is reaping what it sowed. Somebody emailed Glenn Reynolds that now there’s a homeless guy asleep on the cushion chair at their local starbucks (cushion chair? who knew?)

Anyway, scroll down a bit and you’ll see the pic somebody posted.

There are things about Trump that I’d change. But he’s been effective in getting a fairly conservative agenda through. I don’t get the hate. What does Thor want?

    He’s NeverTrump.

That means he’d rather lose with a Ted Cruz than win and implement a conservative agenda with a Trump.

I don’t think people understand how Trump’s perceived “vulgarity” and “tweeting” are ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL in cutting through the MSM BS.

Penn State’s 98-Year-Old Outing Club Is No Longer Allowed To Go Outside

What’s more dangerous: rugby, or a walk in the woods? At Pennsylvania State University, the administrators apparently think it’s the latter.

The student “Outing Club,” which has gone backpacking, kayaking, and hiking in state parks over the course of its 98-year-existence, will no longer be allowed to host outdoor events after administrators conducted a risk assessment, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

“The types of activities in which [Penn State Outing Club] engages are above the university’s threshold of acceptable risk for recognized student organizations,” according to an official announcement.

A key issue for administrators was that the Outing Club frequently visit locations with poor cell phone coverage. This wasn’t an issue during the Coolidge administration, but now that cell phones exist, students are apparently expected to remain glued to them at all times.

    And quite correct too.

As good little snowflakes we all KNIOW that they will only hike where there is cell coverage and it’s soooo dangerous hiking whilst looking at one’s screen or sending photos of your feet to your 300 ‘friends as you walk along a track. You might end up wearing a tree branch in the face or walking off a cliff whilst photographing oneself with a verdant background behind you.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of ‘dregs’ Leaves the outdoors ‘dreg free’ for the rest of us to enjoy.

Friday last was Poppy Day and I was collecting for Veterans as ANZAC Day approaches on Wednesday. A Naval recruit still on his basic told me that he is really enjoying the navy. “You know what … the instructors confiscated all screens from day one and I now actually talk to people. It’s great as I learn lots of really interesting things. This is much better that just looking at screens all day. … ”

    Who knew?

welllll…no. i have one. it goes with me out on my dad’s boat on the lake and it goes out on the ocean with me when i go shark fishing, it also makes the trip for beach casting as well. i was burning through a ‘marine grade’ cooler every 3 years at $60 a pop.

the thing with a yeti is that it is the last cooler that you will ever buy. they are indestructible and keep ice for days and days and days. when i am out on the water i can put my cell and wallet in there (in a smaller pelican case) and if it goes overboard, the cooler is registered to me and is dog tagged with my contact info. it will float forever as long as it is closed and mine always is unless i’m getting something out of it. the saying is ‘never take anything on a boat that you are not willing to lose’. the yeti is an insurance policy.

the fact that it can keep ice for ever helps on longer excursions where a trip to the bait shop for ice is not practical. thereby saving gas and time and $$$.

they are worth the purchase in the long run if they get used like they are supposed to.

    Sheer idiocy.

Hillary Clinton, not on ballot, is star of GOP midterm plan

NEW YORK (AP) — Almost 18 months have passed since Hillary Clinton lost the presidency. She holds no position of power in government. And she is not expected to run for office again.

Yet Clinton is starring in the Republican Party’s 2018 midterm strategy.

With control of Congress up for grabs this fall, the GOP’s most powerful players are preparing to spend big on plans to feature Clinton as a central villain in attack ads against vulnerable Democrats nationwide. The strategy, which already has popped up in races in Pennsylvania, Indiana and North Dakota, illustrates the resilience and political potency of Republican voters’ antipathy for Clinton. As difficult as it’s been for Democrats to move past the Clinton era, it may be even harder for Republicans.

“STOP HILLARY. STOP PELOSI. STOP LAMB,” read pamphlets circulated during the special election in Pennsylvania earlier this year.

Four of Reinking’s guns, including the AR-15 rifle police said he used Sunday, were seized after he was arrested by the U.S. Secret Service in July 2017 on charges that he was in a restricted area outside the White House.

Following the arrest, his Illinois firearms authorization was revoked. Reinking’s four guns were given to his father, who has said he gave them back to his son, according to the authorities.

I am the kind of person Yeti and Corkcicle hates.

I drink warm soda/pop and cold coffee and beer and wine at whatever temperature it happens to be when I get it opened.

As long as the beverage is wet I will drink it, temperature is not important.

Also, as to coffee. It is a really great start to the day when I get to work in the morning if there is still coffee in the pot left over from the day before.

A minute in the microwave and I have coffee, no waiting ten minutes for a fresh pot to brew.

BTW, life is good. Broken cat is fully repaired.

I was right there with ya right up until the coffee. It don’t have to be hot, but by god it needs to be fresh. Hell, even lukewarm instant coffee is better than day old microwaved coffee.

John Tory…. Guy was the leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives once. Lost the riding to Kathleen Wynne who became the Premier. A member stepped down so Tory could run in the riding and lost that election too. Only reason he is the current mayor is that he was running against Rob Ford and a socialist idiot. Ford had to step down due to health and he won because he was “better” than a raving communist.
All us conservatives in Toronto knew that he was a bad choice, but at least we thought he was a better choice then some of the other offerings. Turns out he lowered himself to their level.

Trump administration deploys immigration judges, prosecutors to border ahead of caravan arrival

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has deployed Justice Department prosecutors and judges, as well as asylum officers and immigration attorneys from DHS, to the southwest border ahead of the arrival of the Central American migrant caravan.

I guess that old game of walking up to border agent and turning yourself in isn’t working this time.

We were never a constitutional republic. We were originally just a commonwealth given self rule for the most part.

Actually, there’s bits and pieces that we are taught in school, and so much is glossed over or skipped. I have in my possession a book that has ALL the debates from our fathers of confederation that was printed twenty years ago. It’s on my list of things to read. Have another book on delivery that examines the revolutionary period from the American revolution to the Upper and Lower Canada rebellions. Have a feeling there’s lots of stuff that I need to know.

Among the aforementioned bits of information was the knowledge that the Canadian government was an odd hybrid of Constitutional Monarchy and Constitutional Republic. To wit, as a pure technicality, Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy, though, in practice it is a Constitutional Republic.

What this amounts to in practice, is, that Canadians have nearly all of the freedoms and protections that American’s have, save the built in prohibitions in their Constitution afforded American’s by our “Bill of Right” which restricts the governments ability to alter our constitutional right to suit their whims.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/manhattan/conservative-commentator-wins-4m-case-canceled-talk-show-article-1.3943682

Levin never mentioned the suit, nor did he mention that the decision came down last Thursday. Steyn mentioned it today subbing for Rush. I only subscribed to CRTV because I wanted to watch Steyn’s show and wondered what happened. Considering the fact that these are two well-known personalities, I’m amazed this didn’t get more publicity than it did. (Or maybe it did and I slept through it).

That depends – They could have agreed to non-binding arbitration, which would allow them to appeal. If they did, they’re nuts – you have an arbitrator’s decision that can be used later.

Usually we go to Mediation rather than arbitration – the results are customarily not admissible in a courtroom proceeding and most often it results in settlement since it is not as combative.

    Ummm No actually.

All it means is that you’re different. I’ve been tutoring different kids for some 27 years now at Auckland Grammar School and take it from me. Being differently talented is nothing to sniff at mate. It is what it is and is in no way associated with skill or intelligence. It’s just different. These kids are great and other than two particularly challenged by their differences they all turned out just fine and went on to be great and useful people, in some cases like Ben Chapman astronomically so. A millionaire by the time he was 30 and a car craftsman of the first water and rebuilder of NASCAR racers, race horse breeder and married to a drop dead gorgeous lady from Kentucky and with a brace of great kids of his own. When arrived he couldn’t read or write and had been put into a class with Downs Syndrome kids. We taught him to read and write in a single year and caught him up with the past 9 years schooling in 12 months, and that gave him enough maths to get him into trade school. From there his natural talent blossomed.

Ben was different and learned differently but he was also really, really talented in so many other ways.

So don’t give me this victimology BS mate./ For crying out aloud you’ve got a spectacular IQ. Now go to where you can use it to its full potential. FCOT you Have to be smart enough to figure out how to do this if Ben could!

I think so, Brain … but wouldn’t we want an Australian lawyer in a kangaroo court?

Bhazaing…. Love me some Pinky quotes early in the morning.

    @ eaglesoars:

It means he apparently likes to hire lawyers who have no sense of actual justice and doing the right thing. So, a kindred spirit in other words.

God but putting the website together is becoming a hell of a chore. I asked my IT brother-in-law and he said “not a web designer. Ask WordPress.

Hell, all I want to do is make my header with a transparent background and move the navigation tabs to the right sidebar.

While we have all learned of recent that I am pretty damned stupid, it was annoying nice to rediscover that my brothers wife, kids, nephew and nieces boyfriend are all fucking retards.

A little something reaffirmed this morning after I had to hack the home network, kick everybody off, so I could access the internet.

Ok, now, see, here is the thing. we are on satellite. Satellite internet is like internet access back in the early 70’s. Its a metered service. You purchase time via a specific amount of throughput. In our case, 50 G/B a month. We have a maximum download rate of 25 M/b/s.

But after 50G/B the service provider starts throttling our service. No matter how many times I explain this to my brothers family, they cannot grasp what this means. We also have Satellite TV, which is total crap and nobody actually watches. Two separate accounts through two separate companies.

What everyone here does, is use the internet service to watch TV through Netflix. Now here is the kicker. They ALL turn on Netflix, and then walk away while it is streaming. They leave Netflix on 24 hours a day, then complain half way through the month that everyone else is hogging all the network bandwidth.

I even tried to explain it to them using the analogy that the way they watch Netflix is like idling the car in the driveway 24 hours a day, and then complaining at the end of the week that somebody used up all the gasoline in the car and now they can’t go into town.

Yes, this makes my head hurt, but what ya gonna do? No matter what I tell them, they are still convinced surfing the internet uses more bandwidth than video streaming does.

    @ doriangrey:
But uncle, you have 15 browser windows open all the time, that’s what’s eating up all the bandwidth. No you retard, all 15 of my browser windows are to semi static web pages that only update on request, and then only a couple thousand kilobytes at a time. Video streaming is MEGABYTES per second. Literally ALL of my browser windows use less bandwidth in a month, then one hour of your video streaming does.

I am surrounded by fucking retards I tell ya.
