coldwarrior, here is an article I think you might find interesting.

And the response to it I posted over at my place.

Interesting article from the NYT. I find your analysis & conclusion to be valid. The power & size of the US tends to skew US foreign relations. This is easier to observe from Canada even though our culture resembles yours so closely. The Russia ‘hands’ who spend a lot of time away from the US bring perspective that a deskbound wonk could gain.

Putin is a tough SOB & KGB/commie paranoia is bred in the bone. His Oligarchs are operating with his blessing (and probably kickbacks to him). Seeing the battle that Trump must fight on all levels makes me marvel that Democracy has lasted for so many years. The Globalists
are working very hard to make it go away. Trump voters knew they were losing ground.

Years ago zerohedge had commenters who were inside the industry & had a lot to bring to the table. All of them were driven away by trolls. What you have left is Troll Central. Never worth reading them.

    @ yenta-fada:
It’s not just KGB-commie thinking, it’s Russian thinking. Best line I read in a book was a character discussing thinking paranoid thoughts in Russian. Because it was the perfect language for paranoia. Guess you can say it’s instilled into them from birth.

Old Russian saying made up by little old lady in Moscow… “Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not all out to get me”.

Paranoid they most certainly are but it is offset against a VERY well developed sense of Black Humour that is really funny…. in a dark brooding kinda way!

Yep. “Oblomov” by Goncharev, 1859. The movie made in 1980.

The Barbarian and I were just discussing this.

Democrats Go All-Out to Avoid Disaster in California House Races
    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/26/us/politics/california-primary-house.html

Yes, the Democrats are panicking, and for good reason. Several very good reasons actually.

    a) As the article notes, the Democrats changed California’s primary system to a top two take all system. With 16 candidates and 80 percent of them being Democrats, the Democrats are set up to marginalize themselves right out of the race.

    b) The Democrats know that Hillary didn’t actually win several of the districts she is reputed to have won, those districts were flooded on Hillary’s behalf with illegally cast votes. And the Democrats know that in a non presidential election cycle they cannot count on those illegal votes.

What they are counting on, is the public perception that because those counties seemed to have voted for Hillary, the independents will vote Democrat in sufficient numbers to switch those districts Democrat.

Also, the Democrats as desperate to thwart Trump’s agenda, because one of the items one Trumps agenda that as yet has gained practically no media coverage, is that Trump is aware of the extent that the Democrats rely on illegally cast votes and Trump wants to institute measures that will severely curtail the Democrat’s ability to engage in voter fraud.

If Trump can put a major hurt on the California Democrat’s ability to engage in voter fraud, then the Democrat do not just fail to retake the House via California, they outright lose control of California.

That said I was assailed by a gentleman with a NYC accent wearing a yarmulke, who claimed to be the President of the NZ US Association. Both he and the US Military attache spoke so o don’t doubt this gentleman’s credentials. As soon as we had been introduced he made it VERY CLEAR that he was NOT a Trump supporter by claiming that he didn’t fear assassination because we both live in democracies,…. no matter what he says about the President of the US in public.

Either a crackpot or a swamp dwelling member of the hard core Progressive left!

I just smiled and opined that he was indeed a lucky man!

The cradle of Western democracy. The mother of parliaments. gone

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12378/tommy-robinson-injustice

The face of modern Britain is authoritarian tending to totalitarian under a ruling oligopoly with justice and police pressing the citizenry.

Now there is no Justice , just a perverted legalism

No legal process with protections for the arrested

No due process and civil rights and no rights to legal representation

and a Star Chamber that feels that it needs to hide its trials from the public

    CRUEL BRITANNIA

Both China and Britain are racing to transform into the world’s first Authoritarian Surveillance State.

At the moment Britain has its nose in front with China coming up fast on the inside!

Haven’t they gone through this before with bad Monarchs? I seem to remember the Magna Carta was brought about because of such an authoritarian, arbitrary ruler.
