Helios is god and personification of the Sun in Greek mythology.

I wish he would go on vacation for a week.

So, despite the brutal beating I am getting from Mr Helios and the fact I am not allowed to grill outside at my apartment I have a plan…..

I am getting bored with eating microwave meals and salads. So I have a plan for tomorrow.

Going to take my Sous Vide Arduino and the huge slow cooker to work. On the way to work going to get a load of meat. Foodarama here has the best meat, they do not trim as much fat off as Walmart meat.

Then at work I can Sous Vide all that great meat and then finish it off on the gas grill I have at work in the parking lot at 5pm when everyone has gone home.

Let it all cool in the refrigerator and then ziplock bag it into individual meal size portions.

Take it home and freeze it.

Then I will have nicely cooked and grilled meat, but frozen.

How do you re-heat that? Well, you do not microwave it! Microwaving the meat destroys the texture.

Put it in my rice cooker Sous Vide thingy while it is frozen and cook at 60C for two hours.

Perfectly cooked meat and a crisp salad for supper and I didn’t heat my tiny apartment by using the oven, grill, or skillet.

It may seem like a lot of work.

The alternative is microwave junk food.

How many pounds of Pomadoro sauce does 7 cans of 28 oz crushed Italian Roma tomatoes make?

Well, it’s done, ready to be frozen. A small pot full is put aside for Gulf Shrimp Ziti in Pomadoro sauce tonight.
Ribs done and cooling in fridge for tomorrow. Leftovers for Tuesday.

I’m done cooking until Wednesday or Thursday.

Rough guess? at least 14. 12.25 pounds of tomatoes plus whatever else goes into Pomadoro sauce, water weight approximately 8lbs per gallon, so if you add 1 quart that’s 2lbs so at least 14lbs.

I have to say, watching the meltdown hissy fit the press and Democrats are having about the possibility of Clapper, Brennan, Comey, Rice, et al. losing their “security clearances” is rather telling.

Jennifer Rubin, who only holds her WaPo job because she claims to be a conservative, actually went on Twitter and in a brilliant display of ignorance, claimed that by revoking their security clearances, Trump was somehow stomping on their “First Amendment” rights.

Let’s see (flipping through my Con Law book)…..Religion…Speech… Press…Assembly…Redress of Grievances.

Sorry, Spanky, but if the Security Clearance guarantee is in there, it’s in the very VERY fine print.

    interesting

    https://amgreatness.com/2018/07/23/just-how-far-will-the-left-go/

The progressive hysteria reveals the lack of an idea. Kill, humiliate, delegitimize Trump is not a sustainable political agenda whether winning a local assembly seat or a liberal majority on the Supreme Court. But then neither are socialist ideas. If the Left was intellectually honest it would run in November on what it now professes are its new core beliefs: the abolition of ICE, the end to all deportations, open borders, expansions of affirmative action, abortion on demand, and identity politics, cancellation of student debt, universal Medicare-like coverage for Americans of all ages, massive tax hikes, more regulations, and less fossil fuel production, and an EU-like socialist-democratic foreign policy.

The problem is that the above is probably not a 51 percent winnable program. And progressives fear that their base will not allow them to move to the center to capture the old blue-collar white working class, or the Perot, Tea-Party and Blue Dog voter. Nor can they afford to move much further leftward, given they are increasingly dependent on Obama-like identity politics candidates without an Obama-like charismatic candidate.

Democrats privately acknowledge that Obama wrecked the Democratic Party—losing Congress, the presidency, state and local offices, and now the Supreme Court. But they must praise the forces of that wreckage and seek to trump them by becoming the party of hyper-identity politics. In other words, the Democrats know what sort of agenda might bring them back into power as it did in 1992. But they feel that Clintonesque cure is worse than the disease of being in the purer political wilderness without power.

So, for now, they rant, they rave, and they stew, accepting that they cannot do what might save them and therefore they only do more of what is destroying them. Out of that lose-lose dilemma was birthed Trump hatred. Without a persuasive argument, progressives came up with the mantra that Trump is a traitor, and that all they needed to do was to explain to supposedly dense voters that their current economic renaissance was actually jackbooted National Socialism.

How far will the Left go? I fear that we have seen nothing yet.

    @ AZfederalist:

I’m too tired and demoralized to expound much. Faisal executed people with OBVIOUS trained military accuracy & while moving quickly. We used to live 4 blocks away from this horror. My sister & BIL still live there & raised their now adult children in this community which has always teemed with street life. It’s full of lively restaurants, cafes, bars, & upscale boutiques. It was strictly Greek when we moved in & house hunting was a nightmare because the home were old & barely maintained. Men didn’t work, sitting around in coffee shops smoking themselves to death.

Faisal was 29 and lived with his parents. That neighborhood has the publicly funded middle school that turns the cafeteria into a mosque
every Friday afternoon. There were so many eyewitnesses, they pretty much had to identify the jihadist. News blackout except ‘mental health issues’ and blame the guns which liberal/socialist Toronto wouldn’t dream of owning.

Every year there is a weekend “Taste of the Danforth” food festival which draws literally a MILLION people. So more police and taxpayer funded media blackouts. Hard to be hopeful in a land of brainwashed zombies whose high incomes can’s protect them from their own willful ignorance.

This is big. I need to find the decision – it’s not available yet in PACER, apparently. But the Ninth Circuit ruled that the 2nd amendment protects the right of citizens (I would assume who legally own them) to open carry guns in public for self-defense.

“States like Hawaii and California will have to allow far more guns on the streets than they do today,” said Adam Winkler, a law professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. “States would be able to ban concealed carry but only if they allow people to carry their guns openly displayed.”

This is big for California, which has essentially done everything it could to throw up hurdles to gun ownership. And concealed carry permits are rarely if ever issued.

(However, I don’t think I’ll be wearing my shoulder holster to work anytime soon.)
