Rest in peace, Mr. Allen.
I love Tucker Carlson.

RIP Mr. Allen. Not many get to say they changed the world forever and for the better.
@ The Barbarian:
saw it, thanks. Tucker had Camille Paglia on last nite. I simply love that woman and Tucker is one of the few people in his world who knows not just who she is but why she matters.

My baby sister works for Microsoft. We had a case where our client sued MS and when she heard about it and saw the litigation hold memo in her department, she immediately called me. “THIS IS YOU!” Rather accusatory. I said “hey, I don’t pick the clients.”
It settled early, thank goodness, but I had to attend the announcement press conference where Paul Allen was appearing. He was so funny during the announcement and the Q and A.

Another one who appreciates her is Rush Limbaugh.
On another note, I don’t know that it was necessary for Trump to call Stormy Daniels “Horseface” in a Tweet. I get that he’s mad, but frankly, I was really, really, hoping he’d take the high road on this one. Of course, Avenutti didn’t even give him a chance. Filed an immediate notice of appeal. And of course, wants GoFundMe to pay for the legal fees for his appeal.
I want to know who organized this dog and pony show. These morons are bringing babies, ffs..

Well, she did fire the first show across the bow. First of all, she’s an extortionist. Pay me money or I’ll expose our sleeping together. So’s she’s given $100,000 and an NDA, which she signs. Comes back a year later with the creepy porn lawyer in tow, who in his effort to make himself a national figure and involve himself in the Trump maelstrom, has given her the horrendous advice to ignore the NDA she signed and go public – this way she’ll “take down Trump” and he’ll be famous.
Violating an NDA can cost you a fortune. Because not only do you have to return the money you received in consideration of signing in, you can be assessed damages for violating it. And Avenutti’s excuse of “only her signature is on it.” Truthfully, that’s the only signature that matters. Was she paid? Yes. Did she sign it? Yes. Did she ever communicate her concern about not being in possession of a fully executed agreement? No. Did Avenutti as her lawyer? That’s malpractice.
My guess is the suit to throw out the NDA will also go the way of the defamation suit. Out on summary judgment. And there will be even MORE attorneys’ fees and costs to pay.

and the sweet spot in all that is all those libs who pay into the gofundme are paying Trump (well his lawyers anyway)

Sessions Vows ‘Emergency’ Supreme Court Battles Amid ‘Outrageous’ Discovery Rulings By Federal Judges
In a fiery speech to the conservative Heritage Foundation in Washington, Sessions warned that “once we go down this road in American government, there is no turning back.” He vowed to take “these discovery fights to the Supreme Court in emergency postures. … We intend to fight this, and we intend to win.”
Sessions specifically singled out New York district court judge Jesse M. Furman, who ruled that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross could be questioned in an ongoing lawsuit concerning the legality of the Trump administration’s decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census.
Furman’s decision, Sessions said, contradicts longstanding statutory provisions that protect certain executive branch discussions from disclosure, in order to encourage free and open deliberations by executive branch officials. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit, including several liberal states, are arguing in part that the White House added the citizenship question for political reasons.
The judge wants “to hold a trial over the inner workings of a Cabinet secretary’s mind,” and inappropriately allow inquiry into the motivations for the Trump administration’s decisions, Sessions said.

I’ve read that Sessions is an honest man. Dr. Dave Janda said that the circus and stalling techniques with Christine Ford held up Trump’s plans to de-classify documents and bring out the cockroaches. We will see. I agree with you that this is an important move.

Canada has become the second country after Uruguay to legalise possession and use of recreational cannabis.
The nationwide market for cannabis opened Wednesday at midnight amid lingering questions about the impact on health, the law and public safety. Preparations included mailings to 15m households detailing the new cannabis laws and public awareness campaigns.
But there remain concerns, including about the readiness for police forces to tackle drug impaired driving. Canadian provinces and municipalities have been preparing for months for the end of cannabis prohibition.
Provinces and territories are responsible for setting out many of the details for where cannabis can be bought and consumed within their jurisdictions. This has created a patchwork of legislation across the country as jurisdictions choose more or less restrictive frameworks for selling and using cannabis.

Looks like this FinCEN leaker saved over 24,000 classified reports to a thumb drive and illegally leaked information re Manafort and Gates to reporters. She was taken away by the FBI this a.m.
Looks like the walls ARE starting to close in. Trump said he’d find the leakers. And he is. Mueller’s postponing his report until AFTER the mid-terms. Which would tell me he’s got nothing. Because if he DID, he’d find a way to leak it and the Democrats could run on “and we won’t let him get away with it”.

FBI agents are probing the Manhattan district attorney’s office over its handling of high-profile cases that were dropped once lawyers for the well-connected subjects made donations, the Daily News has learned.
Investigators have been quietly seeking information in recent months about decision-making by DA Cy Vance Jr. and his staff, sources with knowledge of the undertaking said.
The queries are centered on how things are handled in the office and who the major players are, the sources said. The FBI interest grew out of revelations that investigations were closed once lawyers representing the bigwig suspects made hefty donations to Vance’s campaign coffers, sources said.

Facebook knew about inaccuracies in the video viewership metrics that it provided to advertisers and brands for more than a year, according to documents filed as part of a potential class action lawsuit on Tuesday. Advertisers were duped into focusing on the social network under the belief that people were spending more time watching on Facebook than through other video platforms. The inflated data also led many media organizations to put an emphasis on Facebook video and chase views to the detriment of other editorial efforts.
“Facebook’s internal efforts behind the scenes reflect a company mentality of reckless indifference toward the accuracy of its metrics,” the plaintiffs said in Tuesday’s filing. The plaintiffs allege that advertisers began to question Facebook about metrics that seemed off in 2015. Newly unredacted documents claim that Facebook ignored the problem and kicked the can down the road with “no progress” for a year. In pursuing their case, the plaintiffs were able to review roughly 80,000 pages of internal Facebook records

Trump’s Attacks on the Press Are Illegal. We’re Suing.
By SUZANNE NOSSEL October 16, 2018
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter
President Donald J. Trump’s frequent threats and hostile acts directed toward journalists and the media are not only offensive and unbecoming of a democratic leader; they are also illegal. In the Trump era, nasty rhetoric, insults and even threats of violence have become an occupational hazard for political reporters and commentators. To be sure, a good portion of President Trump’s verbal attacks on journalists and news organizations might be considered fair game in this bare-knuckled political moment. The president has free-speech rights just like the rest of us, and deeming the news media “the enemy of the American people” and dismissing accurate reports as “fake news” are permissible under the First Amendment.
But the First Amendment does not protect all speech. Although the president can launch verbal tirades against the press, he cannot use the powers of his office to suppress or punish speech he doesn’t like. When President Trump proposes government retribution against news outlets and reporters, his statements cross the line. Worse still, in several cases it appears that the bureaucracy he controls has acted on his demands, making other threats he issues to use his governmental powers more credible. Using the force of the presidency to punish or suppress legally protected speech strikes at the heart of the First Amendment, contravening the Constitution. Presidents are free to mock, needle, evade and even demean the press, but not to use the power of government to stifle it.
Except Trump has never done anything to stifle them. Nada. Zip.
This is going to be a hoot.

I completely agree. Dirty Dianne’s tactics backfired BIG TIME – notice that many Republicans who had been close or even behind in their Senate races are now comfortably ahead. Democrats, of course, are blaming Avenutti and his psycho client and their outrageous allegations; I think the three “anonymous” idiots who sent letters to Harris, Coon and Outhouse nailed down the coffin – I think it was THAT and Avenutti that made it appear that this was nothing but cow farts. Ramirez was starting to walk back HER allegations, it appears, rather than face what would be a perjury rap.
Still, I want the investigation. I want Democrats and their willing shills to think twice before pulling this crap again. I want Ballsey Ford’s lies and the machinations of her Beach Friend Monica McLean and her shyster lawyer Debbie Katz dragged through the disinfectant.

Jeez Lou-eez, I don’t think Twitter is going to improve until every conservative gets the hell off of it. And that includes the heavy hitters like Hannity, Levin, et al. Gab is a good alternative, for sure, but it won’t mean anything until there is wholesale departure from Twitter in protest over the unfair practices. Jack can answer to his stock holders.
And the Npc meme has gotten many hundreds of Twitter accounts outright banned, not even a warning because it is “dehumanizing”
In other news, apparently Mexico at least is taking Trump’s words about that “caravan” to heart – it has dispatched two Boeing 727’s full of federales to intercept them at their Southern Border. Article at the Daily Mail:

They say they are there to “keep order” but since technically they should be applying for asylum in Mexico rather than the U.S., and Trump is stating he will send troops to the border, Mexico may not want to be stuck with these people if we refuse to entertain refugee or asylum requests and say simply “you can’t come in. Period.”

Why it’s time for YouTube to ban the alt-right
Oh yes, they were riled. They went to their bedrooms, put on their headphones and whinged into the camera, and not just for five minutes. When it comes to defending their right to spew racism and misogyny on YouTube, the American far right cannot express themselves in chunks of time shorter than an hour.
What got them riled was a report from the research institute Data & Society entitled Alternative Influence, which used network analysis to show how modern fascism is spread inside a wider echo chamber of risqué controversialism, pulp academia and staged controversy on the YouTube platform.
I have no idea what ‘risqué controversialism’ even is.

Former President Jimmy Carter harshly criticized newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, calling him “unfit” to serve on the court.
Speaking to a class at Emory University in Atlanta on Wednesday, Carter said that Kavanaugh’s behavior during his confirmation hearings demonstrated that his appointment was “a very serious mistake,” according to Emory’s independent, student-run newspaper, The Emory Wheel.
“Whether or not [Kavanaugh] attempted to rape [Christine Blasey Ford], I thought he was temperamentally unfit to serve on the Supreme Court because of his outburst during the hearing,” Carter said, according to video taken by a student during his remarks. “I saw him lose his cool.”

as far as I can tell, no. It’s a code word/dog whistle for ‘nazi’ or some such slur, I guess. It’s supposed to function like the word ‘racist’, making the target shut up in a defensive crouch. Unfortunately for the people who think it’s a weapon, the people labelled ‘alt right’ don’t shut up in any crouch, defensive or otherwise

I’m used to not blinking an eye when the Saudis behead someone. I’m not a fan of the Wahabism there. I’m waiting for the kingdom to reach the current century but not holding my breath. The Khashoggi murder while bad to murder anyone falls under the realm of Saudi business to me. Keep it in the kingdom don’t export it.
