The 2017 Idiot Wind Awards Nominations – Frederica Wilson

You’ve already heard the story as told by Florida Democrat Frederica Wilson. She claimed she eaves-dropped on a private phone conversation between the President of the United States and the widow of a fallen warrior. Wilson alleges that the POTUS took time out of his busy schedule to call the widow in order to give her a load of sarcastic crap about how her husband deserved it for volunteering to serve in the military in the first place. Pheeeew

Not even Maxine Waters (D California) could have coughed up and spat out a bigger loogie and danced on it, but Ms. Wilson did.

The Florida Democrat who criticized President Donald Trump this week for being “insensitive” toward the widow of a U.S. soldier slain in Africa might be facing similar criticism herself.

It turns out that U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson has frequently voted against measures intended to help veterans and their families, according to VoteSmart.org, a vote-tracking site whose founding board members included former presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford.

The measures that Wilson opposed included a bill that could have ensured that families of four soldiers slain in Afghanistan in 2013 received death and burial benefits. [Source, via.]

Congrats, Ms. Wilson. You’ve just earned a solid nomination for The 2017 Idiot Wind Award.

Florida panther sitting on Ft. Myers porch

FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute has the story:

(h/t: Naples Daily News)

It’s not every day you look out the window to see a Florida panther sitting on your porch! Phil Hendra was at his father’s house in East Fort Myers (Lee County) just south of the Orange River on March 18 when he took this photo of the endangered big cat. “It stayed for about 20 minutes and laid down for a bit,” said Hendra. “It looked at us inside the window then slowly walked away and we have not seen it since. My parents have lived here since 1988 and they may have seen a younger panther about two years ago, but nothing compares to this once in a lifetime experience.” We’d like to mention that this sighting did not occur in the Oldsmar area of Pinellas County. There’s been a lot of misinformation spreading on social media regarding the sighting location, so please disregard these false claims. Welcome to totalitarian America: Pastor Terry Jones arrested before planned 9-11-2013 Qur’an burning

Notice how nobody says, “It’s a free country!” any more?

That’s because it isn’t. Earlier on 9/11/2013, 1389 Blog posted this notice at the top of its main page: Worldwide burning of 2,998 Qur’ans on September 11, 2013 at 5pm EDT (Livestream Link).

Such was not to be. We have so many laws in the US and in all of its States, counties, and localities that, if any governmental body or official wants to get you, for any reason or for no reason, they can and they most certainly will. It is both physically and logically impossible for any American to be in compliance with all of the applicable laws and regulations all of the time, or even most of the time. Unless, of course, one is part of the power elite or a member of one of its protected classes (such as Muslims) who are being used as clubs to beat the rest of us over the head with.

Orlando Sentinel has the story:

The controversial Gainesville Pastor Terry Jones, known for his plans to publicly burn copies of the Muslim holy book, the Quran, was arrested Wednesday in Polk County, deputies have confirmed.

Jones, 61, was arrested on felony charges after a traffic stop near a pharmacy in Mulberry, a small town in Polk County, just before 5 p.m. He faces charges of unlawfully transporting fuel and openly carrying a firearm.

Deputies say Jones was riding in a pickup truck that was towing a smoker and trailer filled with kerosene-soaked Qurans. He also had extra bottles of kerosene inside the truck bed.

According to Jones’ website, he had plans to burn 2,998 Qurans in the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday at 5 p.m. He was arrested along with Associate Pastor Marvin Sapp minutes before the scheduled burning.

Sapp’s pickup truck was seized. He was also charged with unlawfully transporting fuel and received several citations related to improper lighting on the trailer.

“My detectives had many conversations with Terry Jones prior to today,” Sheriff’s Grady Judd said Wednesday. “He was told he was welcome to come to Polk County and express his first amendment rights. However, if he violated the law, he would absolutely be arrested and placed in the county jail.

“On Sept.11 he arrived in Polk County, violated the law and our detectives arrested him and booked him into the county jail just as he was informed.”

As pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Jones’ controversial stances have drawn widespread scrutiny.

Most notably, Jones announced plans to burn copies of the Muslim holy book, the Quran, in 2010 at his church, prompting protests and condemnation from international leaders.

Last April, he organized a Sanford event in support of George Zimmerman, the man acquitted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Rolling Stones not boycotting Florida

The Conservative blogosphere was spreading the rumor that the Rolling Stones were going to boycott Florida over the Zimmerman acquital. Heysoos and Speranza called BS on this pointing out that the Stones are Conservatives/Tories. It turns out it was a flase rumor.

Mother Jones reached out to representatives for some of the artists, who reported that they were unaware of the reported boycott movement.

A source with knowledge of the situation told the magazine that Rihanna was not joining the reported boycott, and a spokesperson for the Rolling Stones said “nobody’s heard anything about this.”

People need to vet stories better.
