And here we are, its the University of Georgia Bulldogs versus the Alabama Crimson Tide! Georgia versus Alabama. After 4 night shifts in a row (and a quick 3 hr power-nap this morning) the toughest decision I want to make today is what tequila goes with this cigar!

I have never seen two teams play for the Championship who were so evenly matched in absolutely EVERY facet of the game and that makes for a tough decision that, like I said, I don’t feel like making. ‘Bama’s linebackers are healthy again and they will be needed to stop the brutal run offense that UGA brings to the field. UGA’s head coach is a Saban protege and traditionally, Saban stomps his former pupils in the big games.

Alabama

8:00 PM

‘Bama is a 4 point favorite in the final. Can ‘Bama’s D hold up under the UGA run onslaught? This is going to be an excellent game. As for the prediction…I’m at 67% for this crazy, crazy year in D1 football…I think ‘Bama beats this spread, hard decision. And, I KNOW that this tequila will go nicely with that cigar! Easy Decision!

    @ coldwarrior:

I am hoping to get the heck out of here today in time to only miss the first quarter – if anyone knows the streaming site for the game (ESPN?) I can at least watch on the bus going home.

CW – I’m going to go with the Dawgs on this one, only because I like seeing new teams winning the National Championship. But if the Tide wins, as they’re favored to do, Saban Ties Bear Bryant’s record for national championships, if I have my stats correct.

DORIAN – I left you a response re your stock situation at the end of the previous thread.

These doctors are flagrantly violating the “Goldwater Rule.” They should be ashamed of themselves. Remember how we were all called to task in 2016 for even HINTING that The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms was not in the best of health based on our observations?

But none of these clowns ever expressed concern about Obama’s obvious narcissism.

The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA), a different organization from the APA, sent a letter on June 6, 2017, that highlighted differences between the APA and APsaA ethical guidelines, stating that “The American Psychiatric Association’s ethical stance on the Goldwater Rule applies to its members only. APsaA does not consider political commentary by its individual members an ethical matter.”[15][16]
AHHHHHH. the amateurs dont have the rule,

Bill Kristol Tweets “I’m With Her” On Possible Oprah 2020 Presidential Bid…

Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, a fierce critic of President Trump, tweeted his support on Monday for Oprah Winfrey for president in 2020.

Kristol, a “Never Trump” Republican, tweeted that he believed Winfrey’s well-received speech on Sunday night at the Golden Globes was an indication she’s preparing to run for the White House.

Kristol then took-up the hashtag “ImWithHer” — once used by supporters of Hillary Clinton — to highlight his support for Winfrey’s worldview.

In an email, Kristol said the tweets were “tongue in cheek.”

“Though if she runs, couldn’t she win the Democratic nomination and the general election?” he added. “And wouldn’t she be a better president than Trump?”

Kristol recruited challengers to Trump in 2016 and if a Republican primary challenger to Trump does not materialize in 2020, it is not a stretch to think that he might support the Democrat in the race. Kristol often criticizes the president and believes he’s a threat to the nation.
In his series of tweets, Kristol mentioned a number of possible other Democratic hopefuls.

Dem-ordered study to expose illegal online gun sales backfires

A Democrat-backed study meant to expose illicit online gun sales instead seemed to show the opposite — with hardly any sellers taking the bait when undercover investigators tried to set up dozens of illegal firearm transactions.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., as well as Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, had commissioned the Government Accountability Office report to look into how online private dealers might be selling guns to people not allowed to have them.

Their efforts were based on a 2016 report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which claimed that “anonymity of the internet makes it an ideal means for prohibited individuals to obtain illegal firearms.”

“Congressional requesters asked that GAO access the extent to which ATF is enforcing existing laws and investigate whether online private sellers sell firearms to be people who are not allowed or eligible to possess a firearm,” the GAO report said.

Over the course of the two-and-a-half year investigation, agents tried to buy firearms illegally on the “Surface Web” and the “Dark Web,” generally by sharing their status as “prohibited individuals” or trying to buy across state lines.

But the GAO revealed that their 72 attempts outside of the dark web were all “unsuccessful.”

“Private sellers on Surface Web gun forums and in classified ads were unwilling to sell a firearm to our agents that self-identified as being prohibited from possessing a firearm,” the GAO reported, noting that in their “72 attempts … 56 sellers refused to complete a transaction once we revealed that either the shipping address was across state lines or that we were prohibited by law from owning firearms.” In the other cases, the investigators’ website was frozen or they encountered suspected scammers.

On the dark web, GAO agents successfully purchased two guns illegally, as the serial numbers on the weapons were “obliterated” and “shipped across state lines.” But in the attempt to purchase, the GAO agents “did not disclose any information indicating they were prohibited from possessing a firearm.”

Based on the findings of the study, the GAO said it is “not making recommendations in this report.”

Cummings, Warren and Schatz did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment on the GAO’s findings.

The National Rifle Association seized on the report to claim that online sales are in fact regulated, calling the study an “embarrassment” for the gun control lobby.

“GAO’s findings showed nothing so much as that private sellers advertising online are knowledgeable about the law, conscientious, and self-policing,” The National Rifle Association said, adding that online gun sales are “subject to the same federal laws that apply to any other commercial or private gun sales.”

A federal judge on Monday said the federal prosecutors’ conduct was “outrageous” and “violated due process rights” of the defendants.

U.S. District Court Judge Gloria Navarro dismissed the charges against the four men “with prejudice,” meaning they cannot face trial again. She said a new trial would not be sufficient to address the problems in the case and would provide the prosecution with an unfair advantage going forward.

The judge criticized both the prosecution and the FBI for not providing evidence to the defense as required under court rules. “The court finds that the universal sense of justice has been violated,” Navarro said.

    Thank GOD!!

The Feds were going to try to re-try the Bundy case and I was about to write a letter to Jeff Sessions.

The judge has dismissed the entire case WITH PREJUDICE. Clive Bundy who turned down bail until his trial, has been freed.

I hope these people sue the Feds for MILLIONS, I hope the prosecutors and FBI all go to jail

The judge called the behavior of the prosecution ‘outrageous’

It’s going to be worse for them in 2018 than they thought. By then, people will be enjoying the benefits of their lowered tax rate – and increased 401K contributions from employers, raises and bonuses. People like Maxie-Pad Waters can explain to her poverty-doused constituents why the lowest black unemployment rate in almost 20 years is a BAD thing and why kicking illiterate illegals out, thus allowing unskilled American labor a chance at better paying jobs and experience is not in their best interests. She’s also got a tough campaigner running against her, who is happy to point out that she lives OUTSIDE the district in an opulent mansion and hasn’t done squat for them. He also likes to remind them how she has been the subject of multiple ethics violations.

The way I heard, Lie-a-Watha is going to have a tough time keeping her Senate seat in Massachusetts as well.

I HAVE heard stuff about DACA and the wall, e.g., the deal is done – Trump gets the wall, a 2-yr delay on DACA but no more chain migration, but seriously, in this town people go out to lunch and just bullshit each other. who knows

Isn’t this the kind of thing that a lawyer would take on contingency? Seems like if you have the paperwork you have a very clear case of fraud. Also seems like one of those cases where 60% of a lot is better than 0% of nothing, so a 40% lawyer’s fee may be worth it. Plus, you put the broker on notice that it’s not nice to mess with small investors and thus may save some other person like yourself from a lot of grief.

Well, that’s already been done in one case. My brokerage firm is getting out of the business and will be transferring our portfolio to another firm in February. Her magazine supposedly has a circulation of 2.3 million, but I wonder about that – my grocery store stopped carrying it, and Discovery had to pour hundreds of millions into that channel of hers, “OWN” to keep it afloat. Now it’s pretty much True Crime and Dr. Phil reruns. She’s had to close Harpo studios. Waiting to see if these new frozen entrees of hers “O, That’s Good!” succeed.

I remember when she was all about empowering women on SlimFast. What she of course, didn’t mention is that she was able to employ a full-time trainer and cook, which Middle America could not afford. I also remember her walking out onstage during her show and saying she was a SIZE 10 now! Oh, right. I WAS a size 10 at the time, we’re the same height, and she had a good 45 lbs. on me. She’s excellent at self-promotion, but I have a sneaking feeling there is plenty of BS she doesn’t want to get out.

  114. 116 | January 9, 2018 10:47 am

The list is growing of people who have stated unequivocally that Michael Wolff has LIED about what they said in his book, including Tony Blair and Rush Limbaugh. Also, it appears Wolff told Stephen the Shit Colbert that he will not be releasing his tapes of his interviews with Donald Trump.

I’ve also heard that he has stated that he cannot reveal his sources because many of then spoke “off the record.” Wait a minute. Isn’t speaking “off the record” taken to mean you will not be used as a source or quoted? So even if we are to believe that these were actual off the record conversations, which I now seriously doubt, he basically lied to these sources.

Oh and Mr. Wolff, I hate to break it to you, but if even ONE of the so-called sources in your book SUES you, you will not have an option about naming sources or producing tapes. It is called DISCOVERY. If you refuse, you can be sanctioned and if severe enough, and judge can deny you the right to even put on a defense at trial.

If I were your publisher, I’d be getting very, very, nervous right now.

So Gorka won’t confirm it was someone in the WH who instructed Gorka, while Gorka was working in the WH, to talk to Wolff, he deliberately leaves open the possibility it was someone outside his chain of command who could ‘instruct’ him? I don’t think so and I find the word games tedious.

Somebody on twitter linked to an article Wolff wrote (Hollywood Reporter maybe?) the day after the election. It took the media to task for its smug attitude that made it completely miss what was going on in the country. The piece was quite good. Scathing actually.

So it shows Wolff knows the media and doesn’t have much respect for them. What if this is a setup? What if Bannon/Trump just let him lose to write crap and Wolff quite deliberately is sucking the media into its own trap?

Trump delayed his Fake News Media Awards till Jan 17. What if he did that in order to play out more rope?

Looks like ratings were WAY down for the playoff games this weekend, from 10% below last year:

    https://www.weaselzippers.us/370511-all-four-nfl-playoff-games-see-double-digit-ratings-decrease/

The NFL had a disastrous weekend when it came to ratings. Numbers have been down all season and it was more of the same for the wild-card games. The biggest surprise was that the best game (Panthers-Falcons) had the biggest decrease year over year. Yes, markets were a big factor, but that was a competitive and entertaining game. Here’s the breakdown:

    Titans-Chiefs (14.7) was down 11 percent versus last year’s Raiders-Texans game.

    Falcons-Rams (14.9) was down 10 percent versus last year’s Lions-Seahawks game.

    Bills-Jaguars (17.2) was down 10 percent versus last year’s Dolphins-Steelers game.

    Panthers-Saints (20.4) was down 21 percent versus last year’s Giants-Packers game.

    ___________

Notice that Panthers Saints had the highest of the viewing audiences but was the greatest percentage drop. At this rate, SuperBowl ads should go for bargain basement prices.
