THE Ohio State now up on Michigan 14 to 6 with 9:08 left in the 1st half.
Whoever wins this will not have a cake walk with Northwestern next week for the Big 10 Championship.
The Big 10 could get cut out of the playoffs. if Michigan does not run the table they probably will.

Harbaugh was fidgeting and I was glad to see he didn’t throw his players under the bus when the media baited him. It reminds me when I was a young Bucekye fan when the coaches were Bruce and Cooper. They were normally a respectable 8-3 coaches, but the could rarely beat MI.

I was interested! I didn’t know anything about the West Coast Jazz scene, though I know about most of the famous musicians. Nor did I think about the mix of African tribes and how that created new expressions. The African work songs I heard in University were not at all syncopated. They were just strongly measured to keep time for a repetitious behavior. Do you think Tin Pan Alley songs were uniquely American by American composers?

I wanted to learn how to play “Rhapsody in Blue” at high school age, but my strict Russian old school teacher would not teach me such tripe. I couldn’t have played it at proper speed anyway when I think about it now. It just sounded like a lot more fun than the stuff I was learning.

The French are much more inclined to take to the streets demanding to have things their way. Montreal was always the riot capital of Canada. Snobby entitled froggies. Quebec gets 51% of all the Federal Health budget transfer payments in Canada without producing all that much. The Western and Central Provinces are the ‘makers’ and Quebec & the Maritime Provinces are the takers. The rest of Canada supports corrupt Quebec. The French of France look down at the French in Quebec as peasants with good reason. They are insufferable. Maybe things have changed since I lived there, but I doubt it.

This is a trick question, right? The era of tin pan ally, was from 1885 until 1950. In other words, well after the civil war. so yes, it is a distinctly American Music genre. Tin Pan Alley was a area in New York City where trained and skilled musicians transcribed and wrote an enormous amount of popular American music. It was the beginnings of corporate music.

Interestingly enough, I am in a sense, a child of Tin Pan Alley. I am an ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) Member and licensed Publisher. ASCAP is a direct consequence of Tin Pan Alley, it was created in 1914 to protect the rights of the artists who were Tin Pan Alley.

I am not only a ASCAP member, but a unique level of membership. Unlike the vast majority of ASCAP members today who applied to ASCAP for their membership, it was ASCAP who approached me. The majority of ASCAP members pay a yearly fee to be members, my membership is both free, and lifetime.

I was one of the first of the “Internet” artists to have multiple number 1 hit songs back in the mid 1990s. Back in 1995 I had 5 number 1 songs on the old MP3.com platform. This was the very first year of MP3.com, which of course was destroyed by its founders stupidity by 2005. Those 5 songs achieved what at the time was considered quiet remarkable distribution, with each song reaching over 50,000 downloads per month.

The total number of downloads was somewhere around 1.2 million. I usually don’t talk about this much because I lost a fair sized fortune in the process. I did not get paid for what was downloaded. MP3 did, but I got my ASCAP membership as a consequence, and was eventually paid about $50,000.00 for royalties.

I also know that the album was shared pretty widely on Napster, though I do not have the figures for how many times it was shared. A very brutal 1996 resulted in my fleeing the music industry and though I have made several attempts to record a new album and return, insane circumstances have prevented that from happening.

But yes, to answer your question, Tim Pan Alley was primarily American composers writing American music.

Another Armstrong observation that is global in perspective. He keeps saying that everything is interconnected.

The Trump Revolution is unfolding everywhere. It is NOT a philosophy left or right – it is just drain-the-swamp and throw out whoever is in power. The Labor government in the Australian state of Victoria won an unexpectedly large majority in an election. We will also see this manifest into the national elections warning that Australia’s ruling conservative government will be in trouble in six months. Victoria is Australia’s second most populous state, and the poll is seen as a warning of voter sentiment.

      @ yenta-fada:
      Yup.

It looks as if the State of Victoria has gone whole hog Californian socialist. They have destroyed their fossil fuel power stations industry and are determined to go green 100 in just over 20 years. That means brownouts and a flight of industry to other states or overseas. The urbanites just don’t care. They know that the brownouts will happen to them last and as long as the latte is how they just don’t give a damn. Just wait until the surrounding states refuse to supply power when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow. South Australia has already gone down the socialist path and not only closed down their main base power coal fired power station. They blow it up to prevent some future State government restarting it as a back up until they can rebuild an alternative bulk supply base. Total socialist disconnect from reality. These lefties have lost their minds, so wedded to their ideology are they.Looks as if shipbuilding will move from South Australia and Victoria to Western Australia and New South Wales where the folks are at least sane!

Steve Bannon totally destroys the whelps at the Oxford Union. His no prisoners , no quarter debating policy made the snowflakes heads explode. They sat there like little pussies waiting their turn to be obliterated by a person who doesn’t speak in bumper sticker rhetoric. I especially loved the looks of confusion and terror on the snowflakes faces when Steve asks for a specific example when responding to some vacuous generalisation dressed up in ‘land-mine rhetoric’. When called upon to be specific with their charges they looked bewildered, then fearful of being shown to be the fools they are, and finally declining into mute terror of being shown up as hollow men and women.

      yes he COULD HAVE BEEN.

Bannon was fired from the WH because HE (along w/Reince Priebus) was the leaker-in-chief.

Afterwards, people started talking. People who knew him and had worked with him. The Breitbart people. And they hate him. I’m talking Larry O’Conner, Dana Loesch, et. al. He took credit for other people’s work, he made himself out to be a bigger influence than he was. Had Andrew not died, he would have been booted from that enterprise also. They were shocked when he somehow made it into Trump’s inner circle, but not at all surprised when he was booted or why.

And if the summary of Corey Lewendowski’s new book is correct, Reince Priebus got the WH job on the recommendation of people like Mika and Joe Scarborough, who used to be friends w/Trump. It seems they tried – and for awhile succeeded – in putting their guy in there as their own eyes and ears and he diligently leaked to THEM. That’s why HE left, albeit under polite circumstances. It is also why Mika and Joe now thoroughly despise Trump. Because he figured out their game and crushed it.
