We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Play nice!
Merry Christmas to all! … and thanks to CW for keeping this place open.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
Well, things are looking up-ish here at ye olde Rock Star Homestead. The inclement weather of my California childhood has returned. As is fitting for a proper Southern California Christmas Morning…. It’s rainy, cold, and gloomy. Though I am out in the countryside (12 miles past BFE) it does my heart good to know, that all around me, parents are kicking their little terrorists outside to play with their new implements of destruction, and the countryside is filled with the wails and groans of monsters everywhere begging to come back in the house because its cold and wet outside.
Somewhere, not far away is some lucky parent, freed from the oppressive shackles of giggles squeals and hugs, and finally able to give the Eggnog the attention it so rightfully deserves. Somewhere, close, oh so very close I know there is a proud father who has locked his garage door and is savoring a delightful Cuban cigar and a shot or 2 of some very finely aged whisky.
CHRISTMAS NIGHT, 1776: HOW DID THEY CROSS?
When the two columns of the Continental Army slammed into Trenton at 8 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, surrounding and capturing most of the Hessian garrison, new life was breathed into a faltering revolution. But how did they get there?
https://allthingsliberty.com/2018/12/christmas-night-1776-how-did-they-cross/
Will cross a frozen river. In the dead of night. On Christmas. To kill you. In your sleep. Americans.

A very Merry Christmas to all the mockers, with a special thanks to Cold Warrior for keeping the fireplace blazing and the beverage of choice on hand for thirsty wanderers.
For a bluesy non-traditional take on Christmas related songs, here’s a background of some Elvis.

i have to keep it going, yinz guys are my go-to peeps.
Merry Christmas, Yinz!
The MCG Boxing Day Test is always an eagerly anticipated occasion, but this year it feels like there is an added edge. The series is poised at 1-1; the stump mics have been turned up; Australia are finding their voice again; Virat Kohli isn’t taking a backward step and there is grass on a Melbourne pitch. It has the makings of a Christmas cracker.
first ball is in about 4 hours! i cant wait!
@ coldwarrior:
the pitch at MCG was marked as poor last year for the Ashes.
on more poor mark and the MCG is out for international test matches for 5 years.
the is like taking madison square garden out of the concert loop.
the pitches were dead last year, killing the spin and speed on the ball when bowled. they are drop in and arent part of the normal ground.
it will be interesting to see if one of the greatest (Lords being the other one) cricket grounds can save their bacon for the boxing day match versus india
@ doriangrey:
A friend of Bunkessa’s said you Southern Folk got hail last night, too. They went caroling with hardhats and shoulder pads.
We’ve got cool temps, blue sky with fluffy clouds that are moving in the wrong direction (south). No rain, but had some big winds last night.
Merry Christmas to all.
I had a totally white Christmas…. Diner…. Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, string beans, mixed veggies, King Hawaiian Rolls.
Pies in the oven… But somebody else has to take them out. Blackberry, Cherry, Dutch Apple and Pumpkin. I feel a profound need to power nap…
Hope everyone is having a Merry and Blessed Christmas.
coldwarrior, please give the princesses hugs from me and wish them Merry Christmas…

Perfectly acceptable, as it is the spirit that counts.
Well, this is good news. It looks like Israel is on the move. started maybe 8 hrs ago – took out a weapons storage area in Damascus AND managed to vaporize 4 Hezbollah honchos who were supposed to head off to Iran for a tete a tete. I don’t think they’re still bombing. They’re saying it was in response to a missile launched from Syria but those Hezbollah guys were ON THE PLANE when the Israelis took them out. That’s some nice shooting considering it wasn’t ‘planned’.

@ rain of lead:
Morning, Rain.
Hope you had a great Christmas.
@ Deplorable Bumr50:
it was very subdued this year, most of the family had to be in other places
so not many people at the house. it was really kind of nice
@ rain of lead:
I hear ya. Feel bad for my Dad and wife in Florida who kind of had a hodgepodge Christmas with not much family save a nephew this year.
The grandkids are coming down Friday over New Years, though, so I guess that will make the holidays for them.
I spent it with the wife’s family. Was pretty subdued.
Got to learn way too much about my wife’s Uncle’s family!! Apparently there’s a list of people that aren’t “allowed” to attend their funerals!!
Yeesh! Let it go people. (Maybe that’s just me…)
Keep your eye on this up-and-comer! Luo Yuan, rear admiral in the People’s Liberation Army Navy and the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Academy of Military Science has it all figured out.
Luo Yuan said that the “five fundamental foundations of the United States” are the military, the dollar, talent, the ballot, and the creation of enemies. Among them, in the military, “the United States is most afraid of death.” Luo suggested using a missile to sink one U.S. ship and cause 5,000 casualties, and two with 10,000 casualties. “Let’s see if the U.S. is afraid or not.”
I wonder if this was just hyperbole for domestic consumption – a Big Swinging Dick contest among hawks – but it might be a good idea for whoever is in charge over there to send this prize to a re-education camp where he can learn to spell ‘Pearl Harbor’ before he does something stupid.

The Chicoms could waste a million of their own men and not blink. Yes I think they are that controlled and that indifferent to their people.
I read that Xi has taken over a three part role. Head of the Commie party, Head of the Military, and President for life. How many body doubles do you think he has? China is the real growing enemy of the U.S. Russia is more the distraction.
@ doriangrey:
Norman Rockwell Christmas. Fabulous food and family.
@ Deplorable Bumr50:
*waves wildly* How the heck are you? I don’t feel sorry for anybody in Florida. Unless of course they are in bad health or homeless.

That eye-tracking stuff is strange. It would be interesting to see how they use it. I bet you could totally hack that and make people’s heads explode.

… and the Sydney to Hobart is well underway after a massed start and through The Heads for the sprint down the East Coast. Massive sledge styled boats owned by millionaire who don’t mind standing in a cold shower tearing up $1000 notes .
It’s not going to be a fast race this year but these speed machines even make their own wind as they plunge south into the Roaring Forties on their way to Hobart (Tasmania) in about 3 days.
All is right with the world!
Merry Christmas and have a Great Boxing Day.

The day 2 of the Boxing Day Test match is underway in Melbourne in front of 100,000 screaming Aussies and a few Indians as well.
In the meantime the Sydney to Hobart Boxing Day race continues under sunny skies. The lead monster boats are approaching Bass Strait already and they will get the reliable pounding as they sprint down the Tasmanian Coast toward Hobart.
Some Highlights from yesterday’s action on Sydney Harbour and the start of a massive fleet of race yachts under azure skies.
Enjoy

So I proceeded with part of the plan.
I am going to get so much shit thrown at me on Saturday when I ask final approval from my nemesis.
However, today plan was to steal a couple of rolls of toilet paper from work as I am out of it at home.
I forgot.
🙁
Yinz will love this. Scroll dow a bit and watch the Art.
