So, the boss was kicking around some crazy ideas on the way home yesterday. He knows that I have written a blog for years. And… was just spitballing ideas, and one of them… Was to have me make a series of youtube video’s where we show the correct procedures for carbon-fiber composite lay-up.

Personal, I hope he decides to go through with it, as it would be a hoot.

Not for criminals. Just the rest of us. Actually they used to be fairly common in rural areas. It’s just become more difficult to get one. But watch out if you use one for self defense. They will throw the book at you, fine you, or otherwise mess you up.

It’s VERY difficult. Took me years and several tries to quit smoking for good. I am sympathetic to your plight. Really. People go to rehab for that sort of thing. Maybe you should nab some of your Brit pension money and get the professional support. It’s hard on your own. Those group things are structured so that you don’t have time to drink.

Crying real tears. I am at the stage where I would go and get myself in a place for 30, 60, 90 days and fuck my job so I could quit drinking and smoking.

Going to try eating lunch again. It is strange, drink at night, go to bed, wake up, go to work OK.

And you know I have to quit drinking before I quit smoking.

No way I am going to drive drunk to get smokes.

However, for the last three weeks on Tuesday I have driven drunk as a skunk to Popeyes for chicken.

Every time I was so drunk it took me ages to find the place.

Final time I did it drunk was last week. Got lost trying to get home. My natural instinct was driving, not me.

As you know in England we drive on the other side of the road.

Yep I did instinct, straight in front of three lanes of oncoming traffic.

      It was ugly……

They do stuff to detox you in rehab places. Fresh juices, saunas to sweat out toxins. Walks or exercise, lectures, group therapy. Getting clean means you have to detox your body gently. Older bodies need even more gentle treatment. You are throwing up as a means of detox, but it’s not good for you. It really is too harsh. It sounds like you are trying to fast by not eating lunch. You are trying to do too much at once, so no wonder your body hates it. You need nutrients to give yourself the strength to cope with such a change. Read about some rehab places in your general area. See what they offer. Create conditions where success is likely. Failure is SO hard on the mind and spirit. Treat yourself well . You worked for the money. Spend it on yourself.

expecting too much of yourself to tackle it all at once. Let the Professionals give you some support. They’ll be used to people getting pissed off when they take away the booze. Calo has likely discussed this with you and you know how smart she is. It’s often harder for men to admit they need help. You ought not to let that stop you.

You can be INSPIRED and WANT. When you WANT a drink it can be ferocious. I’m not a drinker, but I have the addiction gene if there is such a gene. I find that inspiration can change on a dime. That’s why they have those 12 step programs every day. When I kept going back to smoking, I piled on the weight. I tried a 12 step program for the weight. I found that listening to other people’s stories about their addictions made me feel crazier. So that didn’t work for me.

The truth is you don’t NEED to smoke to live. You don’t NEED to drink to live. BUT you do need to eat to live. Very tricky these addictions.

Get help for the booze. As annoying as the human race can be, we still need other human beings. There will ALWAYS be a reason keeping you from quitting. Sort of endless “Yes…but”.

That’s too much responsibility for anybody to bear. It just is. That’s sounding like obsession. Certainly you know you WANT and are INSPIRED.

I don’t mean to make light of your heart’s desires. You do seem to have a few of them. I’ve been madly in love a couple of times. It was obsession. It was fraught with drama. I don’t remember it fondly because we were both miserable. (each time)

you are lucky you didnt have a seizure/hallucinations, stopping drinking if you are a heavy drinker can be life threatening unless being followed by a medical professional. alcohol is drug and the body learns to be dependent on it.

if you are at day 5 of no booze, then you are out of the woods for the serious life threatening side effects.

right now your body is severely dehydrated and in great need of fluids, calories and b-complex vitamins. dramamine may help the nausea.

but I thought guns are illegal there

There are varying classes of gun ownership. Normal, restricted, and prohibited.
Normal is typical everyday rifles and shotguns. Some semi-automatic rifles as well.
Restricted is handguns of certain sizes and lengths, larger semi-automatic rifles (AR platform is in here I believe)
Finally prohibited like some automatic weapons, short barrelled handguns and military style rifles.

A standard gun purchase license is the PAL (Personal Acquistion License) and a safety course is required before you can get it. Restricted is yet another course to purchase handguns. Then there’s the rules and regulations on storage and transportation which require more paperwork.

Boy Blunder has a firearm bill sitting in the Senate that would criminalize the storage of handguns in private residences and require storage at a legitimate gun club. So, yeah things are getting stupid up here in that regards.

dammit, I went to bed too soon.

Possum, I have liver disease, not from alcohol, from an immune disorder. I know what it’s like to have a bum liver. And you sound like yours isn’t all that great.

You need medical assistance now. There is a drug that will stop you from craving alcohol called Antabuse.

When your liver goes, sometimes it can regenerate if whatever is causing the problem stops. But there can be collateral damage that cannot be fixed and is life threatening, e.g. to the vascular system. You don’t need to hear the details.

The fastest way to get direction on this is AA. Call them. Please don’t get to the point where even if you stop drinking, the damage is done.

I heard the story twice last week about serious alcoholics wanting to get sober and going to the gym. But each day they returned to the liquor store for a fifth. What stopped this cycle for them and wanted them to own their own sobriety?

      Multiple DUI’s
      Jail
      Blacking out in public spaces
      Homelessness
      Loss of family
      Loss of love.
Realizing they were dying before their time.

As Eaglesoars says the first step is to get to a detox facility. Have Calo take you if she is willing. It’s still on you. Just you. Not on Calo. that is the message you will get from all recovered people. They got on their own train and made their lives better. Because they lost all they had loved including their self esteem. It is a downward spiral as they say. Find your personal spark, smile at yourself, and open your door to detox. Some people do IOP(Intensive Outpatient Therapy) and SLE (Sober Living Environment).

You can download the Pink Cloud app to a smartphone and find all the AA/NA meetings listed in your area. In that group will be people who can direct you to resources. You just have to show up and ask for help. There are people there with harder stories then you are writing. Some of them permanently damaged. But they persevere and accept their responsibilities.

Just about all of them say life is good now that they are in recovery. Just the journey to get there is a personal one that might need a little assistance to get started.

I didn’t have bacon for dinner (although I did have some for breakfast), but I did make a pasta dish that had 2 lbs of Italian sausage in it. I think I met my pork fat quota for the day 🙂

Humboldt County (California) is all white because of the genocide of indigenous people

American soldiers cut off their genitals and wore them as hats [ed. there’s a pussy hat joke in there somewhere]

And that’s why they cancelled [ er – ‘postponed’] the women’s march

According to Kelsey somebody on Jesse Waters

I hadn’t either, but our little half-size supermarket here had it. The stuff is almost like a syrup in consistency. I was expecting it to be powder.

They make a whole line of different flavors. Our store has about 3 of them. Amazon has them all, I think: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_6?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=better+than+bouillon&sprefix=better%2Caps%2C220&crid=1B2BJHJ64MLPY

Oh! yeah, THAT part is lovely. BUT, I find the piece a little – I don’t know the word – limpid.

For the most part, music is wasted on me. According to people who are musicians. I accept that, it is what it is, I make no excuses and no apologies.

I love all kinds of music. Since playing my first record as a toddler. Started playing at 8 yrs. It’s just a part of me. Hell, I could probably enjoy ‘On the good ship Lollipop’ again.

Dems are upset with the new Muslim Rep from Michigan.
Apparently she was not supposed to reveal the true intent.
