To Meuller or not to Meuller?

Is today the day it ends?

also: More From the “They Quit Teaching Econ For a Reason File:

Do note the headline versus the excellent news:

A more encompassing unemployment rate that counts discouraged workers as well as those holding jobs part-time for economic reasons, often called the “real” unemployment rate, plunged to 7.3 percent in February from 8.1 percent in January. Those employed part-time for economic reasons tumbled by 837,000 to 4.3 million while those completing temporary jobs fell by 225,000, which a Labor Department office said was a consequence of the government shutdown that ended in late February.

Among major worker groups, the jobless rate for Hispanics also declined sharply to 4.3 percent from 4.9 percent in January. The rate for African-Americans rose two-tenths of a point to 7 percent, while the level for whites declined to 3.3 percent from 3.5 percent.

There was other good news in the report: Average hourly earnings increased by 3.4 percent on a year-over-year basis, easily the best of the economic recovery that began nearly 10 years ago. That compares to a 1.5 percent increase in the consumer price index for all urban consumers from January 2018 to January 2019. Economists had been expecting an increase of 3.2 percent.

Another big loss for Avenutti – Judge Otero tosses Stormy’s NDA s suit as well:

US District Judge James Otero says the suit, which sought to invalidate the $130,000 agreement that kept Daniels from speaking publicly about her allegations of an affair with Trump ahead of the 2016 election, should be sent back to California Superior Court. In his ruling, Otero says the suit “lacks subject matter jurisdiction.”

You gotta love Booker. He, Warren, Harris – all believe the majority of the country buys this manure they’re shoveling. No one is believing the whole “climate change” fairy tale anymore and they want a Wall at the border. The country is split 50/50 on abortion generally and are appalled in the majority at late-term abortion in the particular.

And whoever the nominee is, Trump will be merciless in debate. If it’s Kamala, he is going to throw that family that was murdered by a criminal illegal that she released into the population and then claimed she was proud of her “sanctuary city”. If it’s Booker, oh hell, what he’s going to do with “Spartacus” will be worth watching. And Warren? Oh my God, a plethora of riches.

AAnnndd…in Iditarod news. My dog, Talese, was dropped from the race last night. We don’t yet know why but he’s in the capable hands of the ‘dropped dog Mom’ LindaJ. Talese is the 3rd dog Blair has dropped so far, so she’s running with 11 dogs. Also she broke her sled somehow, but had pre-dropped a spare at one of the checkpoints, fortunately.

Here’s a very good article on why dogs get dropped.

Understanding Why Mushers Drop Sled Dogs in Races

but the predominant reason dogs are dropped have to do with the dynamics of working with a group of high caliber athletes. When running sled dogs, a musher can only go as fast as the slowest team member.
      []
      For an event like Iditarod, bigger dogs an play a valuable role during the first several hundred miles of the race as teams travel through several mountain ranges. These uphill climbs are hard and require strong dogs and bigger teams. These dogs provide valuable strength during this segment of trail, which may be tougher and slower going, but may not be as fast or nimble during flatter parts of the trail. These dogs, however, have provided power and have allowed some of their smaller teammates to do less work, keeping them more well-rested for later segments of the race. This is a very strategic set up that many dog teams use and is a common reason why we see team size drop after crossing the Alaska range;

Perla del Mar is a unique addition to the J.C. Newman portfolio. Eric Newman was originally attracted to the brand because of the beautiful artwork on the label, which spoke to his love of cigar label art in general. Originally a Cuban brand, Perla del Mar literally means “Pearl of the Sea.” Story has it that early explorers who landed in Cuba quickly discovered a golden leaf, which they dubbed Perla del Mar, and from this tale a premium cigar company was born. The relaunch of the traditional brand hails from the same boutique factory that produces top-quality Brick House and El Baton cigars.

This is a box-pressed Nicaraguan handmade, comprised of 100% Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco leaves from three distinct growing regions. On the outside, a silky Ecuador Connecticut wrapper pays homage to the name with a gorgeous, golden brown leaf. The flavors are refreshing yet complex, with a smooth and creamy experience all the way through. Discover for yourself the magic of Perla del Mar.

And from a Politico profile on Ilhan Omar

As she saw it, the party ostensibly committed to progressive values had become complicit in perpetuating the status quo. Omar says the “hope and change” offered by Barack Obama was a mirage. Recalling the “caging of kids” at the U.S.-Mexico border and the “droning of countries around the world” on Obama’s watch, she argues that the Democratic president operated within the same fundamentally broken framework as his Republican successor.

“We can’t be only upset with Trump. … His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was,” Omar says. “And that’s not what we should be looking for anymore. We don’t want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile.”

      https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/03/08/ilhan-omar-dean-phillips-minnesota-democratic-party-225696

Obama can take his Hope and Change and shove it.

Whoopi Goldberg has shared a health update after being absent from “The View” for just over a month, revealing on Friday’s show that she’s “not dead,” but she actually came awfully close.

“I am OK. I’m not dead,” Goldberg said in a taped segment that rolled at the top of Friday’s episode. “Yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news, I didn’t. Thank you for all of your good wishes.”

Goldberg said she had pneumonia in both lungs and became “septic,” leading to a lot of fluid and “all kinds of stuff going on.” She’s been absent from “The View” since Feb. 5.

i wouldnt wish septicemia on anyone…well…most anyone.

RARE public remarks? The guy hasn’t shut up for 2 years. As for Kelleyanne – just wait, CW. She plays a long game. She’s not going to do anything that draws attention to this because the MSM will use it to club Trump. I just hope she has every asset possible in her name, altho I don’t know what state their legal domicile is in.

The end has not come yet. But it will.

As for Carville/Matalin, they shared the same passion – political campaigns and winning them. It didn’t matter so much which side of the divide you were on, they both understood what made the other tick and respected it.

Shot it today. Very nice. Once I got my stance down all the rounds went around the center. Thinking of making it an EDC. Had kind of a cinderella situation for a few years. 10 years ago got a leather Tex Shoemaker and Sons holster in a box at a yard sale or auction. It sat around with nothing to do. As I got each new pistol I tried the holster and none fit. Guess what. One does now, lol. Let it sit over night and it’s a perfect fit now.

Wore the pistol today after the range and did get a couple funny looks and one comment. Nothing bad. Might open carry on range days.

Brie Larson doesn’t want you reviewing her superhero movie, white males

As the actress embarks on a publicity tour for the first female-led Marvel movie, Brie Larson has a message for white males: Move to the back of the line.

The Oscar winner said she picked Keah Brown to interview her for a recent Marie Claire profile because the journalist has cerebral palsy and is a woman of color. That’s commendable. Less so is Larson’s posturing.

“About a year ago,” Larson explains in the interview, “I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male.”

Shifting that dynamic and elevating an obscure journalist by asking her to profile you is a kind thing to do but also, and I want to add this without cynicism, it’s a great way to get good press.

Here’s what Brown says about Larson in her Marie Claire story:

Meeting Larson in person for the first time, it’s immediately clear why she was chosen for this role. Passionate, funny, genuine and kind, she’s eager to see the diverse and inclusive world she lives in reflected back on the big screen. She might not be a superhero in real life, but she’s ready to fight like one to make the world better.

Yinz are gonna have to set your adult beverages down before reading this. Ready? ok.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer caused a kerfuffle Thursday by parking his official truck on the sidewalk in front of a public school — then crossing the street to get lunch with another officer in the predominantly Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights.

The first officer left his marked immigration enforcement vehicle on the sidewalk directly in front of the Castle Bridge School with a dog inside, while another officer parked his marked vehicle on a street adjacent to the school and left it running, school staffers and parents said.

The two officers then decamped for a burger and a chicken pot pie, respectively, at Coogan’s pub across the street from the school
      []
Meanwhile, Mexican immigrant Juan Martinez, who operates a candy stall on the corner where the two parked, fled on foot at the sight of them, fearing a raid. Another undocumented vendor on the same block in the largely immigrant neighborhood did the same, he said.
      []
The incident caught the attention of Washington Heights City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez,

“This is totally unacceptable. They should be out. Abolish ICE,” Rodriguez wrote on Twitter.

This is great. On my Iditarod thread a lot of people refer to specific dogs on the team as their ‘spirit animal’ or some such. They got taken to task by an SJW for appropriating part of the indigenous culture because spirit animals don’t belong to white people culture and it’s very hurtful.

      AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!

So I told her I’m white, I’m appropriating it anyway and I’m going to have a lot of fun watching her do bupkis about it. (I’ve never claimed a spirit animal, btw.)

Well, Well, Well. Her SJW buddies chimed in.

You must be a shitty person, blah blah blah.

This is the pinned tweet she chose for her twitter acct.

I know “eat the rich” sounds great & all, but please do not. No one wants Kuru. Feed the rich to the pigs, and then eat the pigs

I haven’t engaged at all and it’s infuriating them. This is the most fun I’ve had all week. It takes so little to wind ’em up and then they just go off like rockets all night. And it’s always personal. ‘unkind’ ‘shitty’ ‘o compassion’ ’empathy’

But feed the rich to the pigs. Got it.

      @ lobo91:

yeah, there are way too many like her.

I’m off to bed. One more Iditarod story. somehow, one person posted a link to something called DonorsChoose.org. It’s a non-profit where public school teachers can post requests for money for special supplies or school trips or something like that. and the link showed the schools in Alaska.

These are tiny, tiny, rural schools – if you can even call them that – sometimes with 12 students. They scrape for everything.

Long story short. #uglydogs, Blair Braverman’s ‘crew’, raised $26K today for these kids. We pretty much funded half the K-5 education system in Alaska. The teachers are gobsmacked, the kids can’t BELIEVE they’re really going on these field trips, etc.

And not ONE request for books was left unfunded. Last I checked, they’ve got every book they asked for. All of them. One class asked to replace 2 Chromebooks that were damaged. They got them. One teacher asked for funds to feed the kids with lunches over spring break. They’ve been fed for the school year.

      It’s been a good day.
