6 Nations Round 5 Open, St Patrick’s Weekend Open

by coldwarrior ( 78 Comments › )
Filed under Open thread, Sports at March 16th, 2019 - 9:39 am

It’s the Irish at Wales this afternoon. If little Wales wines, they are the 6 Nations and Grand-Slam Champions. If Ireland win, then all sorts of machinations occur and then we have to wait for the outcome of the England v Scotland match later in the day. France is at Italy.

I would love to see Wales pull this off.

It’s an Open Thread, have a great St Patrick’s weekend!

Cheers to the Irish for the 17th March but the Welsh love their Rugby and deserve to win this one.

This kind of serial stupidity would be the end for most politicians. For dems it’s a resume enhancer.

The japanese have a term for the kind of person he was growing up chuunibyou (also known as 8th grade/middle school syndrome)- typically used to describe early teens who have delusions of grandeur, that desperately want to stand out that they have convinced themselves they have hidden knowledge or secret powers.

His recent statements that he was “born to run for President” shows he has not grown out of it. This man-child is potentially more destructive than even obama.

This temp control is great. Nice smoke too. Will have to go to Wholey’s in the strip and get bulk fish for this.

    @ coldwarrior:
Well a day and a bit after the Christchurch massacre the Narrative is now set in quick drying concrete. The shooter is an AltRight fanatic. That is a lie pure and simple but the narrative is established so that the Left can use it as a blunt weapon to beat conservatives about the head. The truth from the nutter himself is that he has ‘transitioned from being a Socialist… to a neo-Marxist …. to an Anarchist….to a Libertarian … to an Eco-Fascist (what the hell that is.) Basically he’s a nutter who thinks that the Chinese President Xi is a great man and his ideal form of government would be authoritarian communist China. That’s out of his own mouth.
YET…. we have the global NARRATIVE already being pushed by just about every Progressive group and MSM outlet that somehow this nutter is an AltRight warrior.

The targets selected for destruction by the global; progressive left are also in place. Freedom of speech and the US First Amendment and draconian laws confiscating many classes of weapons and a general roll back of Second Amendment freedoms.

Those of us living without the First and Second Amendment protections already, will be crushed under ‘hate crime statutes’ that proscribe genuine opposing political opinion as chargeable hate speech and they will be subject to legal penalties. This at a time when even the definition of what is hate speech actually is allows ‘creative’ lawmaking on the trot from Progressive activist judges seeking to silence opposing political dissent . The first stage in creating a tyranny of State power with little or no redress by the individual. The second burden is the unilateral confiscation of whole classes of firearms even in jurisdictions where gaining a firearms licence is already onerous and difficult. With 2.5 million firearms in a country of just 5 million that’s relatively a LOT of weapons.

Finally the security services in NZ are coming under massive government pressure (we have a socialist Labour government in power here just now)to gather very comprehensive data on ‘persons interest. That is ALREADY the case, however and this push by( the former Socialist Youth International President) and current NZ Prime Minister Jascinda Audernwill go way beyond that. Because the nutter has no ‘background’ and no security services file ( he was a security clean skin Lone Wolf attacker) now almost everyone will have a security file opened on them. Just like Communist China with its ‘Social Credit scores to keep the hot pool under control. There is a name for that . It’s called tyranny!

To quote Rob Emmanuel the current mayor of Chicago and well known Progressive…..” We (The Progressive left) should never allow a tragedy to go to waste”. They will ‘mine it’ for everything and anything that will move their ‘Narrative’ in the direction of State control of all facets of life of its citizens.

    Welcome to 1984 Winston Smith….

and all because a crazed Eco-fascist Progressive nutter murder 50 people and wounded 50 more.

    https://phys.org/news/2019-03-long-distance-quantum-exchangesuccess-nanoscale.html

I happen to love this stuff. The article is very cool, but they predictably left out the coolest part of this research.

Overall, the demonstration of fast spin exchange constitutes not only a remarkable scientific and technical achievement, but may have profound implications for the architecture of solid-state quantum computers. The reason is the distance: “If spins between non-neighboring qubits can be controllably exchanged, this will allow the realization of networks in which the increased qubit-qubit connectivity translates into a significantly increased computational quantum volume”, predicts Kuemmeth.

First and foremost, they have broken one of what were believed to be the laws of physics. Information cannot be exchanged faster than light, and quantum data cannot be transmitted via entanglement.

They have done both. The coolest aspect of this is that it now means faster than light communications are not just possible, but an actual reality now.

Please allow me to explain the right here and right now implications of this. Mars is on average 143 million miles away. This means that it can take between 3 and 22 minutes for communications signals to travel between earth and mars. When Elon Musk sends his big fat rocket to mars with people on it a potential 22 minute signal delay could be fatal. A quantum entangled network link would make communications with Musk’s spaceship real time all the way to mars.

If we can crack this believed to be impossible problem, then perhaps we really can crack faster than light travel. Theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre produced the equations way back in 1994. Since then other theoretical physicists have tweeked his equations to make then more realistic as an actual warp drive system.

    H. David Froning is one of those theoretical physicists.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n38aP2tROBo&vl=en

The Alcubierre-Froning Warp Drive has the theoretical upward speed of 1X10^53 times the speed of light. That is fast enough to travel from one side of the observable universe to the other, a distance of 90 billion light years, in under 1 hour.

In short, if the Alcubierre-Froning Warp Drive can be made to work, humans could literally go anywhere in the entire universe in under an hour. But wait, there’s more. Going anywhere in the entire universe is cool, but… Until now… It would have meant zero contact with earth during the trip. No phoning home in an emergency. No help in an emergency. With quantum entangled network communications, now E.T really could phone home.

Think about this for a few minutes. Yea, this shit really is cool.

    @ lobo91:

Blonde has a superficial understanding of Jordan Peterson. He has read and interpreted the literary, spiritual, and psychological Western canon of thought. His crucial and intellectual pivot point was to understand and search for meaning in the worst totalitarian genocides of the 20th century. He is most certainly NOT divisive and uses identity politics as an obvious example of how arbitrary these particular comparisons between groups are. He mocks ‘intersectionality’ as a directed mind controlled means of setting up only certain characteristics of comparing humans. e.g. exaggerating sexual preferences as a major way to approach the human condition. If she had looked more deeply she would have seen how Peterson rails against political correctness as means of social engineering and control. His popularity as a worldwide speaker and author bring people back to themselves as individuals. He offers taking responsibility leading to action as a way to make life meaningful and bring people to a place of peace within themselves by having them sort out goals and making them more successful as human beings. And yes, MEN especially must confront their darker sides since globalists & other social engineers MUST remove the alpha males
as the very force that will push back against dictators.

She must have just read Peterson’s 12 rules for life without understanding the vast act of reason and passion behind their roots. She didn’t do the hard work even though she gets a few things right.
Listening to Jordan Peterson got my sister to work through her writer’s block instead of just saying ” My muse has left me.”

Top Beto O’Rourke adviser is socialist who slammed Saul Alinsky as a moderate

An avowed socialist who blasted the leftist father of community organizing Saul Alinsky as a “paternalistic” moderate who “disparaged the idea of revolutionary change” is one of the top advisers to Beto O’Rourke in his 2020 White House bid.

Becky Bond, who was a senior aide to Sen. Bernie Sanders during his 2016 presidential campaign, has been floated as O’Rourke’s campaign manager. She was an organizer for his 2018 Senate run against Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz.

Thank you, Dorian. Does this also mean we have actual wormholes as part of the warp drive mechanism?

And HI!, itā€™s great to see you back for a check in. Things have improved for you workwise obviously.

No, wormholes are something completely different. Warp drives compress and stretch the fabric of space itself. Wormholes create holes in the fabric of space between 2 points. 2 points as in either distance, or time. Warp drives are strictly distance.

Best Irish Broadside ever, IMO. Some typos in there, but it was proofread by Eoin Shalloo.

Now explain how the 405 elongates space and time, turns 40 miles into 2 hours.

The presence of 2 or more cars creates objects, specifically, the space between the cars. That is a discrete object that occupies its own co-ordinates, determined by the position of the nearest cars. The creation of that object therefore alters time because space has been altered.

I’ll be here all week. No, actually, I’m going to bed. nite.

    @ doriangrey:
One of the things that bother me about the Alcubierre warp drive was the reliance on something called “Exotic Matter”. Sounds like a heap of unobtanium to me along with a little handwavium. Until they can define what the exotic matter is and how to manufacture it, it’s all just mental gymanstics.

    @ PaladinPhil:

Plus the minor issue of it probably requiring more energy to function than the Earth’s entire current power grid.
