Sleep Study, Part 1. and open

by coldwarrior ( 69 Comments › )
Filed under Academia, Open thread, Science at April 15th, 2019 - 3:28 am

I work nights often. When I am at home, the bedroom is like a tomb. Gramma Coldwarrior made us some custom Blitz-era blackout curtains that must be made of Hawking’s Black Holes. It is totally dark, pitch black, endlessly without light. When I am on nights I put the ceiling fan on high for noise. Noise is needed to block out the mind from reacting to the sounds of the house during the day. I will also run a box fan for added brain mis-direction.

It is notoriously hard to sleep in the daytime in a hotel. Most hotels aren’t built for that. Total Darkness is unattainable and the stomp monsters are always in the hall or overhead during the day…and then there are the vacuums…

Darkness can be attained tho. A Tempur-Pedic face mask gets that done no problem. Mrs Coldwarrior calls that thing my Diva Mask. It works. That leaves the sound issue. It’s easy to get dark, it’s damned hard to clear the brain of disruptive sound. The Brain wants to hear and asking everyone to be silent during the day is not only rude, it’s impossible.

White Noise

Brown Noise

Got that? Good. SO what I did was get two, small Altec Lansing Bluetooth speakers, my laptop, and this website and this hotel room. I have to get up at 1600 and am going to bed shortly. I will take my normal dose of 5-10mg Melatonin p.o. and use this shifted toward Brownian noise over both speakers (which are not equally distanced form the bed on purpose). This will give the brain something to mull over while I sleep and the stomp monsters are about.

This is night one with this website, more updates to follow.

Enjoy Yinz’s day.

Once it got started, any water they put on it was going to vaporize. The stone walls would have retained heat and just increased the temps. I don’t think there was ever a chance.

maybe. There was renovation work going on. I believe it was on the roof, so there was probably some melting/melted lead going on.

    @ coldwarrior:

I read that there have been over 1000 desecrations of churches in France over the past year (although how accurate Twitter can be is questionable). Even so, the destruction of probably the most symbolic Catholic Church outside of St. Peter’s is significant. I have to wonder if it was deliberate.

I don’t normally watch cable news or TV really. I used to click on FOX when something of real importance was being reporting on (9/11 etc). When I heard that the cathedral was burning I first turned on FOX because the others were 100 % a waste of time. I’ve been able to avoid Shep for many years until this afternoon. Listening to this ass wipe talk about pondering what it too so many years to construct, ‘what could have inspired them to complete such a ..blah blah blah”. Hey DICK, it was a belief in GOD and JESUS CHRIST, thats what !!
Ever wonder how it was that so much incredible art was conceived and completed to glorify God ?

On another note, no doubt the Parisian officials have already decided that no matter what an investigation turns up, its gonna be “accidental in nature”. Anything else could, and likely wood, cause sheer havoc in the streets and across the country. Shep was making sure that no callers speculated as to what may have caused such a catastrophe ? Yeah, he was right to do that – lives could be on the line, ‘careless whispers’ could

bring about a blood bath. Shep said that nothing he could remember in his life time could compare to this. The Twin Towers may have stood 800 years and thousands still alive if not for a certain devastating destruction of a cities … uh oh, Cavuto is taking a call from Bill Donohue and Bill is getting it into it with Neil. Upppp … he just hung up on Donahue !
I do hope it doesn’t get ugly. Just can’t stand Shep and I need to vent.

We should end withholding of taxes from paychecks. Make your income tax bill just like your electric bill, your mortgage, or your auto insurance. Then move election day to the day after taxes are due.

This looks like very good news. Only a small bit of the interior was damaged. Here’s a pic.

Just setting the narrative. Now, when it is released, the dems can claim they ‘forced” Barr to release.

/it’ll play to their base and a few addle-minded “undecideds”. They don’t need to convince the dead or the illegals who will vote for them whether they personally cast a ballot or not.

I strongly suspect there is a different narrative at play here. I think they are setting the narrative for the “true” Mueller report. Once the report is released on Amazon they are going to find things “missing” and start to demand a “full release”, this will lead to hearings and all kinds of other democrat money wasting crap.

And your dadddy wasn’t a commie stooge. I’ve been hearing whispers about this for a week or so, this is the first place I’ve seen it all pulled together.

Pete Buttigieg’s father was a Marxist professor who lauded the Communist Manifesto

The father of Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg was a Marxist professor who spoke fondly of the Communist Manifesto and dedicated a significant portion of his academic career to the work of Italian Communist Party founder Antonio Gramsci, an associate of Vladimir Lenin
    []
Paul Kengor, a professor at Grove City College and an expert in communism and progressivism, said Buttigieg was among a group of leftist professors who focused on injecting Marxism into the wider culture.

“They’re part of a wider international community of Marxist theorists and academicians with a particular devotion to the writings of the late Italian Marxist theorist Antonio Gramsci, who died over 80 years ago. Gramsci was all about applying Marxist theory to culture and cultural institutions — what is often referred to as a ‘long march through the institutions,’ such as film, media, and especially education,” Kengor told the Washington Examiner.

Interesting trip down to the beach last night. We stumbled upon a crime scene in action. 7 cop cars including two Highway patrol, three Incident Cars, an unmarked plain clothes car and a Delta van (with dog). road spikes had been laid and the offenders’ car had been forced off the roar by one of the Highway patrol cars by giving it a ‘technical tap’ on the drivers side doors that spun it around. The Highway patrol car had some frontal damage but I suggested to the cop that it’d be just fine and the it would probably just buff right off!. He cracked up and gave me a thumbs up as he went past.

    🙂

Not sure what the suspects had done but the cops…. all armed…. swamped them and it wasn’t going to turn out well for the suspects. All done and dusted in 17 minutes and a nice cop came over and apologised for holding us all up.

Unless, of course, your assertion is that since you are changing the law, those citizens who have certain scary looking firearms will no longer be law abiding. Terrorist alert was downgraded from Black to Grey as of today. Now only cops guarding specific places will be armed with pistols and AR-15s. The rest go back to just carrying TASERS, pepper spray and extendible metal batons.

On a lighter note the Ardern Labour (socialist) government when they were forced to eat crow when their $2 million study to bring in a Capital Gains Tax was tossed onto the scrap heap. It seems that NZ First the centrist popularise party in coalition with Labour to form a government decided NOT to back the new tax regime.

It was a close run thing so for now we’ve seen off another tax grab by the socialist left Labour and their best buds the ‘Watermelon ‘ Greens. Green on the outside and red inside. This has damaged the Jasinda Ardern ‘brand’ and it’s her first slip. Actually she and her Cabinet has done squat for the past 18 months. Most policies have ended up as total cluster-fucks.

Good morning. The other day Neil Cavuto hosted Bill Donahue, president of the Catholic League on his FNC Program. The guest started to raise a red flag about the fire at the Cathedral of Notre Dame as possible vandalism.
Cavuto warned him to stop and when he persisted Cavuto hung up.
I am not particularly a fan of Donahue and I am not into conspiracy theories, but why so dismissive?
Why did French authorities rule out vandalism immediately? There was no construction work going on that day.
There has been a spate of vandalism in Catholic Chrches recently as the above article lays out.

Today we unite in prayer with the people of France, as we wait for the sorrow inflicted by the serious damage to be transformed into hope with reconstruction. Holy Mary, Our Lady, pray for us. #NotreDame

Nothing at all yesterday, nothing more today.

The Pope who tweets goes silent on twitter when people might actually seek solace during a possible major symbolic attack on their religion. Shameless denial of spiritual leadership in times of increasing chaos.

From Armstrong in the what could go wrong section:

“A new law in the EU shields whistle blowers from retaliation by creating “safe channels” to allow them to report breaches of EU law. In other news, 100 historians have signed an agreement to reconstruct the history books to strengthen the bond amongst the European countries. They wish to implement “shared memory” works instead of reflecting on divided memories. An attempt to alter the history books could be a solution for future generations to feel more bonded amongst the Europeans.”

say what you will about the French, their security service is very good. If it does turn out to be the muzz, the public may never be told just to keep the peace. Yet I’m all but certain the French intel people will go all Mossad “Wrath of God”** on those people. And the Mossad will be more than happy to help.

**Wrath of God was the name of the Mossad op that tracked down and killed everybody they could find who were responsible for the Olympics slaughter.

    Christ, the jokes write themselves.

They’ll start another war just trying to write the thing.

If they start w/Bosnia, I give it 2 weeks.

JUST IN: Top House Democrat Committee Chairs Demand Bill Barr Cancel His Planned Press Conference on Mueller Report

This press conference, which apparently will not include Special Counsel Mueller, is unnecessary and inappropriate,

During the French Revolution there was torture, debauchery, murder and cannibalism openly practiced. The same thing happened in 1936 in Spain. You think a little name calling and threats of legal action are serious. When someone from the 10th Mountain Division grabs your baby son by his leg and swings his head against a fence post and then feasts on his spilled brains whilst your local congressman applauds. THEN you have a serious problem. When the local nuns from an orthodox convent are raped by the State Police and then drowned. THEN you have a cultural meltdown.

It’s happened twice before in the past200 years in a culture that was a lot more developed than what is foolishly called culture in the US of 2019.

As I said… Pace yourself comrade,,, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet

    Ya Thunk?

The Frog’s secret service attempted to cover up the murder of a Dutch national when French divers blew up and sunk a ship in Auckland Harbour 35 years ago.

You think they won’t cover the arses of their ‘elite’s well as their own sorry arses, for not protecting Notre Dame from firebugs?

You think too much of the French as a people I think!

    @ eaglesoars:
Oh and by the bye as for DGSE being any good at their jobs. Forget it. They acted like a bunch of pathetic amateurs during this so called secret operation. To the extent of hiring whores in Wangerai and grandstanding to them about them being ‘secret agents’……., DEMANDING the right to fly and land a ski aircraft on a glacier in the Southern Alps and kicking up a stink when they were denied because they hadn’t been checked into the glacier landing fields as was law…… to dumping their Zodiac inflatable after the hit and leaving their fingerprints all over their gear……..this was when they were supposed to be ‘undercover’ and keeping a low profile!

    Sheesh!

Arrogant amateur hour by a pack of bastard French tossers.

    @ eaglesoars:
And… then thinking that the DGSE could waltz into NZ and ‘spring’ the two captured agents one from a superman and the other from Mt Eden woman’s prison. The NZ Intelligence Corps were awaiting them as were a regiment of NZSAS. The Le Triumpf nuclear attack sub dropped off the escape teams at Carolyne Bay in Northland and we tracked them throughout their approach and reckon of the prison targets.

We (the Int Corps) even set a trap for the team that was looking to spring Dominique Prieure from Mt. Eden by overtly moving her out of the city to MCE (Military Corrective Establishment) at Papakura. What the press failed to see was the body double who took Dominique’s place at MCE, she was a corporal from the NZ Signals Regiment, and was housed all alone at MCE. Prieure was then covertly spirited away to her billet INSIDE the electrified 14 foot fences surrounding the NZSAS establishment. She was the ‘guest’ of a regiment of the NZSAS and she wasn’t going ANYWHERE !

    🙂

Ahhhh the good old days when we could get out teeth into a live enemy … even if they were technically allies!
