    This isn’t good:

Insurgents Seek to Oust Wayne LaPierre in N.R.A. Power Struggle

Turmoil racking the National Rifle Association is threatening to turn the group’s annual convention into outright civil war, as insurgents maneuver to oust Wayne LaPierre, the foremost voice of the American gun rights movement.

The confrontation pits Mr. LaPierre, the organization’s longtime chief executive, against its recently installed president, Oliver L. North, the central figure in the Reagan-era Iran-contra affair, who remains a hero to many on the right.

Behind it is a widening crisis involving a legal battle between the N.R.A. and its most influential contractor, Ackerman McQueen, amid renewed threats from regulators in New York, where the N.R.A. is chartered, to investigate the group’s tax-exempt status. With contributions lagging, the N.R.A. is also facing an increasingly well-financed gun control movement, motivated by a string of mass shootings.

Mr. North asked Mr. LaPierre to resign on Wednesday, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times. He said he had also created a committee to review allegations of financial improprieties that threaten the N.R.A.’s status as a nonprofit organization.

But Mr. LaPierre, in a stinging letter sent on Thursday night to the N.R.A.’s board, accused Mr. North of threatening to leak damaging information about him and other N.R.A. executives unless he stepped down.

“Yesterday evening, I was forced to confront one of those defining choices — styled, in the parlance of extortionists — as an offer I couldn’t refuse,” Mr. LaPierre wrote. “I refused it.”

North is reportedly out as president, as of today.

    I answered the “no” thing.

The second question that most places asks is ” Are you a legal permanent resident and allowed to work in the US ? ”

    Never asked.

seems it was an off duty Border Patrol agent. Not clear if he was part of the congregation. In any event, he missed the perp and hit his vehicle. The perp was wearing a vest.

I’m grateful that some members of the Congregation were smart enough to hire a brave man who knew that you need a gun to stop a gun. The shooter would have killed many more in a crowded room of people in panic.

And why Chabad? This is an ultra Orthodox Hasidic movement. It is international, but small in numbers? Maybe it was close to the killer’s usual haunts. The muzz who killed Jews in India when also blowing up a luxury hotel went after Chabad as well. I thought it was because of the lack of synagogues in India.

Lots of muslims handing out candies today. I don’t know a good substitute, but the term ‘hate crime’ paints with too broad a brush. Thinking Jussie Smollett here among others. It reduces the holocaust to hate crimes because Roma, homosexuals, and political dissidents were included. Make no mistake, it wasn’t a Nazi hate crime to exterminate one religion.

White Supremacists are the constant talking point of the minions of Soros. We hear it from Trudeau and that beyotch Chrystia Freeland. Same with EU Elites, UK elites, and democrats. So I’m not ruling anything out. These crimes become part of the news cycle all too quickly. And there’s GUN CONTROL too.

“To combat these attacks, harden the targets. Have armed men/women in the church/synagogue/mosque. Don’t allow back packs inside. Lock the doors when services begin. Install cameras in logical places. Make sure electric service panels are not accessible outside the building. Install sprinkler systems. Man, this is getting zero attention and it needs A LOT

Michigan’s AG, a woman named Dana Nessel, is creating a database of ‘thought crimes’ actors who don’t engage in behavior that is criminal, but in behavior she doesn’t like.

Like passing out fliers that encourage people to report illegals to ICE.

SPLC will be one of the sources.

Michigan Department of Civil Rights Director Agustin Arbulu announced the department is creating a process to document hate and bias incidents that don’t rise to the level of a crime or civil infraction.
    []
Arbulu pointed to a recent incident in Lansing over President’s Day weekend, in which fliers saying “Keep America American” encouraged people to “report any and all illegal aliens.” The fliers included a phone number for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the website for Patriot Front, a group the SPLC has labeled a white nationalist group.

In a statement, Arbulu said he was disappointed by the fliers, “but know this, we are watching and we won’t allow hate to divide us.”

‘Jewish Hero’ Killed In Synagogue Shooting Took Bullet To Save Her Rabbi’s Life

The woman killed in Saturday’s synagogue shooting was hailed a “Jewish hero” after it emerged she was hit while saving her Brooklyn-born rabbi’s life.

Lori Gilbert-Kaye, 60, died during the Passover celebration at the Chabad of Poway Synagogue near San Diego when gunman John T. Earnest, 19, burst in and opened fire with “an AR-type weapon,” injuring three others, according to police and witnesses.

It emerged Sunday morning that Lori dived in front of Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, 57, who was hit in his hands and believes the worshiper saved his life, according to reports.

“Our rabbi … told everyone that she saved his life because she stood in front of him,” insisted Dr. Ronit Lev, who called Lori “my best friend in all the world,” according to the Jewish Press.

Another close friend, Audrey Jacobs, wrote a moving Facebook tribute praising her as a “jewel of our community” dedicated to good deeds and charity.

“Your final good deed was taking the bullets for Rabbi Mendel Goldstein to save his life,” she wrote, noting that she “leaves behind a devastated husband and a 22-year-old daughter.”

I have. It’s in common use up here in Canada. Metis were considered “halfbreed’s” at one time. Neither fish or fowl in regards to native tribes or Europeans. Louis Riel of the Northwest Rebellion was a Metis and was trying to form a Metis nation. Only recently has the government of Canada recognized the Scattered Metis people across Canada. Not full status Native Americans with reservations so they get only part of the rights (mostly hunting and such).

    @ PaladinPhil:

checking other sources, most of the term when used in the U.S. was used out west. It’s a French word (meaning ‘mixed’) and in the sources I read the Shawnee (my tribe) is not mentioned as one of the more common indigenous people who intermarried. I suspect this may have something to do with how the tribes aligned, British vs. French, etc., than anything else. The Shawnee aligned w/the Brits, even against the colonists. But the other Ohio Valley tribes, e.g., Delaware – I dunno. There were Shawnee septs all the way down to Florida and I don’t know that they can be lumped into this story line.

Local officials called the California shooting a hate crime. The gunman shouted that Jews were ruining the world as he stormed the synagogue, according to a government official with knowledge of the investigation who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak publicly about it.

The synagogue did not have a guard at the time, the official said, and there were about 40 to 60 people there at the time of the shooting.

An older woman died in the shooting, and a young woman and two adult men were in stable condition at a hospital. Derryl Acosta, a spokesman at Palomar Medical Center, confirmed that the rabbi, Yisroel Goldstein, was among those being treated. Goldstein had tried to speak with the gunman before he was shot in the hand, the government official said.

At a news conference Saturday, Sheriff Bill Gore of San Diego County said that the suspect’s gun may have malfunctioned, cutting the attack short.

The San Diego police chief, David Nisleit, said that after the shooting, the gunman called the California Highway Patrol to report his location on Interstate 15 in Rancho Bernardo.

A police officer who was responding to the synagogue attack exited the freeway and saw the gunman in his car. The man pulled over, jumped out of his vehicle and put his hands up, Nisleit said, and the officer saw a rifle on the car’s front passenger seat.

THE REST IS CRAP. ed. yenta

Ya know, the Iranians are such morons. Like nobody can figure this out? They released drone footage of a drone fly-by of USS Dwight D. Eishenhower in the Gulf.

    Except it’s in Norfolk VA.

The video they got Al Jazeera to spit out is apparently digital combat software stuff. It doesn’t even look real.

    Here is one hilarious thread

It may have. There’s no clear picture of how this went down, why the shooter left with ‘only’ 4 victims. So, the 2 story lines aren’t mutually exclusive.

And it goes along with the fact that he likely knew nothing about guns beyond what he saw in video games.

How to clear a stoppage is covered on day one of any reputable training course. It does happen, particularly when you don’t do proper maintenance.

Read my #59 for example of news blackout in Toronto. btw, I think that some Meti migrated down to New Orlean, leaving them to blend with local French speakers. It’s some dim memory, but it would mesh with your heritage if true.

I repeat, read the “news” account from the largely circulated Toronto Star. They are making shit up.

There are bigger ones. They omit a lot of news stories altogether. It’s a hard left paper.

There’s even a handy acronym for clearing a stoppage in an M-16/AR platform rifle: SPORTS

Slap (the bottom of the magazine), Pull (the charging handle), Observe (the ejection of a cartridge); Release (the charging handle), Tap (the forward assist), Shoot (another round to make sure it works)

I learned that in basic training in 1979, and still remember it.

Canadians have no idea that they live under a reality scripted by Globalist Elites. I only know of 2 blogs to follow. There’s a good one in French in Quebec called Point du Bascule or something actually spelled correctly.

no, New Orleans is Mom’s side. She was Irish, German (jew), and 2nd gen French. If she’d known about the Jewish DNA she would have keeled over. We were definitely stunned. But all the ‘native American’ stuff is on Dad’s side in SW Penna.

Finally some details about this shooting:

WATCH: Chabad Of Poway’s Rabbi Goldstein’s Powerful Plea To The Jewish Community Following The Horrific Shooting

“I turned back around and realized we had an active shooting going on. I saw all of the kids in the banquet hall. I ushered them together and they ran outside,” Goldenstein explained. “My young granddaughter, who’s four years old, is watching her Zaydeh bleeding profusely. I didn’t even realize it. I took a towel and wrapped it around my hand and, shouting as loud as I could to get all of the kids away to a neighboring house, got back into shul, and told members to leave.”

“Miraculously, miraculously, his gun jammed and there was a Border Patrol agent who recently discovered his Judaism. Jonathan was there. As soon as he heard the commotion, he was able to get access to a gun and he ran after pursuit of the shooter, who got away by car. He [Jonathan] got off a few rounds on the car but he [the shooter] got away,” Goldstein said. “And, fortunately, the police were able to apprehend him, the shooter, right afterwards.”

Thinking ability: Somewhat impaired… No, not from alcohol (tragically), bur from a lack of blood to brain…

12lbs of pork ribs in the new smoker today…

Bunch of chicken, Carne asada, and brats on the grill…

Yes, there were a few Corona’s involved… Not enough to account for the diminished cerebral capacity…

    Its all good though…

News says it was at a cookout near the Xhurch. So not in the Church in an area with gang violence. It’s hard to GET the news. Or keep up with the violence. e.g. Chicago

    @ lobo91:

Well, I don’t think thisman is lying. He just said the border patrol guard (?) ‘managed to get access to a gun.’ So carefully selected wording. I know about 30 word of Hebrew, and I did recognize his references in Hebrew to the “Messiah” who Chabad believes WILL come and bring about a better world.
