Allergies, Mental Health, and an Open

by coldwarrior ( 101 Comments › )
Filed under Academia, Health Care, Open thread at July 11th, 2019 - 6:15 pm

I have noticed something over the years, there seems to be a strong correlation between large numbers of allergies and the likelihood that the patient has some mental health issues. This info is revealed during the triage process…I keep seeing it over and over again. Long list of allergies to meds and such, mental health issues and psych meds almost always are there too.

Now I read this.

Interesting, I may have to do more research…maybe a chart audit for some raw data…

    Yup

I have noticed that as well.
The suppressed tribal rage that is boiling just beneath the surface. I saw it when I was a kid growing up in Sydney where on many Sunday afternoons average Aussies would be shocked by the tribalism and fighting at E.S.marks field between the Croats and Serbs. Forget about the soccer, it was smash the tribal enemy that ensured that the ‘spectators’ were fully engaged. As time wore on and with two or so generations the tribalism waned as the combatants were subsumed into the general anglo population.

Soccer appears from the outside looking in as a ‘game’ that ensures low scores and much rage that builds and gets no relief. The result is that the opposing tribal spectators take out their suppressed rage and frustrations on each other by rioting.

Now Rugby is all together different. There’s Aggression aplenty applied on the field. The score board keeps ticking over and there is relief of crowd tension. The aggression tends to stay on the field and what goes on on field stays on field with both teams having a beer afterwards and crowds enjoying an after match beer together at a local pub.

    inflammatory chemicals called cytokines

those fuckers have caused me no end of misery. They’ve identified the ones that cause my illness, I guess the next question is for them to identify the ones, if any, associated with this.

Has no one tried immune suppressants with these patients?

Kids pick up anxieties from mimicking the behaviour of their surrounding adults. Especially so if their parents are nervious nellies. Urbanised families that are separated from nature are particularly succeptable to allergies and such. Early exposure to all types of potential allergens by children builds a natural resistence and reinforces a child’s natural immunity. Urbanised living in particular and especially when coupled to proto-hypocondriasis in parents or care givers appears to generate a real fear in children of all manner of real and imagined allergies.

The more we move away from nature, coupled with the fact that urbanites are exposed to more chemicals and by-products of urban living, than people living closer to nature, compounds these effects.

    🙂

    More so !

    Those croquet mallets are deadly!

    🙂

Actually as second and third immigrant populations move away from their gets and into the general population as well as their sporting preferences change there is a mellowing of tribal passions!

    Kinda!

I must admit that the Croats and Serbs are difficult to calm!

suspect muslims. For the past few months here they have started naming muslims who are convicted of crimes. Don’t know why that has changed though. Most of the ‘refugees’ end up in Toronto. They also change cities a lot since so many are grifters living off theft and drug traffic. Crimes with violence used to be so rare. There is also more cases of sexual assault all over the city.

Anxiety and depression express themselves in so many ways for so many reasons. Seems to me that allergies and mood disorders are VERY difficult to quantify. The sheer difficulty of controlling for individual differences could make research inconclusive. They often end up saying ‘further research is needed.’ I had what they said was allergic asthma for about 4-5 years. Then it went away never to return. Had nothing at all to do with mental state. Hell, my state is still mental.

BREAKING: Ninth Circuit Sides With Trump Administration

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday ruled in favor of the Trump administration’s efforts to prioritize federal dollars for local policing to towns and cities that complied with certain immigration policies.

The ruling, a split 2-1 decision, said the Department of Justice (DOJ) was within its rights to withhold Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants from sanctuary cities and states over their refusal to work with federal immigration enforcement authorities and instead prioritize agencies that focused on unauthorized immigration and agreed to give Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) access to jail records and immigrants in custody.

The city of Los Angeles first sued the administration after it was denied a $3 million grant on the grounds that it did not receive the money because it did not focus on immigration for its community policing grant application. The decision reversed a district court’s ruling.

“The panel rejected Los Angeles’s argument that DOJ’s practice of giving additional consideration to applicants that choose to further the two specified federal goals violated the Constitution’s Spending Clause,” wrote Judge Sandra Ikuta, joined by Judge Jay Bybee.

Cargill shuts animal-feed mills in China as fatal hog disease spreads

The article notes that demand is falling, which is part of Cargill’s equation, but demand is falling because this is spreading.

I checked around to try to figure out why – China has experience in this and has been fairly successful in stopping this kind of infection before. But not now. Why?

It turns out that people are not disposing of the diseased carcasses properly – they’re dumping them in rivers, streams, etc. in order to escape detection.

The next time some useless pimple on the world’s butt tries to tell you the NeverTrumpers are the ‘real conservatives, show them this tripe.

From some slag they picked up off the street and housed in the Bulwark to make the place look occupied, we have this sloppy beg to the Dems

“It seems to me that our differences are reconcilable,” Longwell suggests. “Because ultimately, NeverTrumpers and Democrats want the same thing. And like staying together for the kids, we should stay together for the country. We can fight over marginal tax rates later, after America has restored its basic political norms.”

County 911 received the initial call at 9:06 p.m. Friday that the former Beaver Alkali Products property on New York Avenue was on fire and emitting yellow smoke. County emergency services officials issued text, email and phone alerts around 9:15 p.m. advising people within a five-mile radius to “shelter in place due to an incident until further notice.”

The first shelter advisory was lifted just before 5 a.m. Saturday. Officials said the first release was caused by chlorine pellets.

Protesters Rip Down U.S. Flag, Replace It With Mexican Flag Outside ICE Facility In Colorado

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)– Hundreds of protesters gathered in Aurora on Friday evening to march to the ICE detention facility where illegal and undocumented immigrants are being housed. They also removed the U.S. flag, replaced it with a Mexican flag, and spray painted graffiti on a Blue Lives Matter flag before it was seen flying upside down on the flag pole.

This comes before planned ICE raids in Denver and 10 other cities nationwide.

The protesters say they are demonstrating against the treatment of the people living inside. The Blue Lives Matter flag was vandalized with “Abolish ICE” in spray paint.

The original flags outside the ICE facility, including the U.S. flag and Colorado flag were placed on the flag poles after the crowd dispersed. The Mexican flag and spray painted Blue Lives Matter flag were removed.

POLICE: 16 Arrested in Phoenix ICE Protest — Cops Assaulted

Police in Phoenix arrested 16 people during a protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The protesters are charged with unlawful assembly and obstructing a public thoroughfare. Two people also face charges of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Protesters rallied in the street in front of the Phoenix ICE office about 8:30 p.m. The rally assembled on public streets and the light-rail tracks, AZCentral reported. Police officials declared the rally to be an unlawful assembly and ordered protesters out of the streets.

Many of those attending the rally remained on the sidewalk while others allegedly blocked traffic and shut down the light-rail system in the area.
