2019 ICC World Cup Final Open

Filed under Open thread, Sports at July 13th, 2019 - 8:57 pm

At 0530 Eastern time Sunday morning, the final for the ICC World Cup starts. It’s New Zealand v England from Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

England was expected to be there probably against India…well, no one told New Zealand, i guess. NZ hasn’t played good cricket this series, at least not to what they are capable of playing, yet, they manged to get into the final. They will have to be at the top of their game to compete with England.

Enjoy this Open

New law needs to be passed.

Any employer that hires an illegal immigrant faces a jail sentence of minimum six months.

Any person who hires “casual labour” as in a lawn cutting person etc should deduct federal tax from the amount they pay the asual labour and then declare the deducted amount on their tax return.

Little known fact. anyone can collect taxes and give the collected taxes to the IRS

it’s already illegal to hire illegals and no, Possum wrote:

yeah, no. Only if that person/employee wants you to, then they have to give you a form, I think it’s a W-4. If they are working as an independent contractor, there’s another form (a 1099?).

This is from an Antifa account about the attack on the immigrant detention center

Willem Van Spronsen was an anarchist comrade who gave the ultimate sacrifice against fascism.
Who are our enemies? Who are our friends? ICE is our enemy and the anarchists are our friends.

‘Willem Van Spronsen’?? Oh, too good to be true.

It is compliated. If yoy pay a worker under $600 per year ( as in lawn person ) no filings are required. But as an upstanding and honest citizen you should tell the IRS and pay the federal tax.

I ham trying to differentiate here between an american citizen kid mowing lawns for non-companies and a company employing illegals.

    Clarification.

90 year old lady gives Jose Cuervo $20 a week cash to mow her lawn. No penalty for her.

Meat packing plant that employs Jose Cuervo as a full time employee in a meat packing plant in Iowa. Jail time for employer.

I don’t think anyone is required to withhold employee taxes. Things may have changed tho. When I was in the corporate world, we had to fill out a form if we wanted the company to withhold taxes and tell them what percentage. Most financial advisors will tell you to not let the company withhold. Instead, save the money in an interest bearing account and when tax time rolls around, you’ve got your taxes owed all saved plus a little bonus.

There are three distinct classes of people in the USA

    Citizens

    Permanent Residents

    Illegals

If a permanent resident behaves them selves there is no difference between them and a citizen except one. They pay taxes, are entitled to Medicare etc and a social security pension.

Only difference is a permanent resident cannot vote. That is the ONLY difference!

This really sounds like suicide by cop w/a side of self-righteous ‘martyrdom’.

This brings back memories of the Weather Underground.

Yes, the left WILL say this is not terrorism. They define that as attacks on innocents in order to spread terror, as opposed to assassination of authority figures as a political statement

Just a few more hours before the ICC Final begins.

The Kiwis will have to get past the English openers Roi and Bairstow, and that means the kiwi fast seamer Boult knocks them over with the new ball then New Zealand has every chance to take this. A few quick English wickets and the Brits will fold like a cheap lawn chair as they have so many times before.

Give them over 150 for one or two and an innings around 300 and they’ll be very hard to reel in!

    🙂

PLEASE Kiwi openers DON’T go cheaply this time. Guptill needs a good half century to soften the ball and to give the middle order batsmen a chance to take their chances.

Looking forward to the cricket from Lords

Dogs are amazing creatures. Their favorite person in the whole world, Megan, sometimes comes over to take us all for a walk. She’s due in about half an hour.

They know. They’re at the door whining and yelping.

I don’t do anything differently, I deliberately give no cues – but they – especially Willow, who has dragged me across a 4 lane highway because she heard Megan’s car – have this telepathic connection with her that is astonishing.

Cricket played at this level and pace makes the Baseball World Series (where the US plays with itself) 🙂 look pedestrian to say the least.

Don’t try to go Test cricket immediately. Stay with 50 over game until you understand the nuances whilst reaping the excitement. THEN go to watch Test Cricket.

Australia versus England in the Ashes ( a tine wooden cup containing the ashes of the bails of their first competition. It’s only ever played between the Aussies and the Brits. Test Cricket vs. 50 Over Cricket is like the difference between Chess and (Checkers) Draughts.

You’re not ready for that 5 Day two Innings a side game quite yet but you will learn to appreciate the tactics and subtlety eventually.

In the meantime go and learn about 50 Over Cricket such as the magnificent match that just happened at Lords Cricket Ground in London. There is plenty of ways to learn about the rules online.

    Enjoy

Have you graduated to Test Cricket yet Cold?

We all grew up listening to ‘Test Cricket’ ‘live’… though it was not really. You could listen to the radio for a few hours and then go about your business and drop back to get updates over the 5 days of the game. With 5 separate games spread out over 3 months it was a summer tradition.

When I was a kid the ‘ball by ball’ reporting was not what it seamed. The ball by ball was sent by telegraph in a sort of code and the ‘announcers’ and pundits at the radio mic in Australia would read the transcript and then ‘simulate the sound of willow (bat) on leather (ball) and due crowd noise and describe in detail who was chasing the ball and where in the field it was racing across. By staying one ball behind the actual game the action sounded as if the commentators were at the cricket ground itself. Such was the illusion of ‘ball by ball’ reporting.

    🙂

Most people assumed that they were listening to actual live reporting rather than the commentary running 30 seconds behind the action, and the radio reporting being just a simulation.

Quite cheeky but such was the communications globally way back when the telegraph was the fastest and cheapest way to communicate.

    Talking about gun laws.

Last weekend was the opening of the gun confiscation period. I have 4 x 30 round mags for an AR-15 but currently no weapon that suits. Might as well get 80% of the new price on these mags . They are still packed in plastic and have never been used. They were left behind by some yanks who were emptying all of their kitbags so that they could make room for plush thick lambswool … sheepskin ar seat covers!

    🙂

Gunsmiths here have manufactured a pump-action replacement for the semi-automatic working of the AR-15s that fit within the parameters of the current law. The Police Commissioner refused to even consider such a move to allow curent owners of AR-15s and other types of now prohibited arms to hold onto their weapons.

Since when is the Police Commissioner the arbitrator of what is written in law? I thought we lived in a Parliamentary democracy and it was parliament who made the laws and the Judiciary who interpreted the law. Since when does a globalist supporting Police Commissioner make the rules? The run of the mill cops here are NOT well pleased with the Police hierarchy! Nothing is being said however by the current Labour / Coalition administration as they are one Worlders.

    SPIT!

A couple of dozen great reasons for the Brits to leave the EU as fast as they can and definitely by 31 October.

Hitler’s wet dream only 74 years late!

The LISBON TREATY comes into force in 2020

1: The UK along with ALL existing members of the EU LOSE their abstention veto in 2020 as laid down in the Lisbon Treaty when the system changes to that of majority acceptance with no abstentions or veto’s being allowed.
2: ALL member nations will become states of the new federal nation of the EU by 2022 as clearly laid out in the Lisbon treaty with no exceptions or veto’s.
3: All member states must adopt the Euro by 2022 and any new member state must do so within 2 years of joining the EU as laid down in the Lisbon treaty.
4: The London stock exchange will move to Frankfurt in 2020 and be integrated into the EU stock exchange resulting in a loss of 200,000 plus jobs in the UK because of the relocation. (This has already been pre-agreed and is only on a holding pattern due to the Brexit negotiations, which if Brexit does happen, the move is fully cancelled – but if not and the UK remains a member it’s full steam ahead for the move.)
5: The EU Parliament and ECJ become supreme over all legislative bodies of the UK.
6: The UK will adopt 100% of whatever the EU Parliament and ECJ lays down without any means of abstention or veto, negating the need for the UK to have the Lords or even the Commons as we know it today.
7: The UK will NOT be able to make its own trade deals.
8: The UK will NOT be able to set its own trade tariffs.
9 The UK will NOT be able to set its own trade quotas.
10: The UK loses control of its fishing rights
11: The UK loses control of its oil and gas rights
12: The UK loses control of its borders and enters the Schengen region by 2022
13: The UK loses control of its planning legislation
14: The UK loses control of its armed forces including its nuclear deterrent

    https://www.engadget.com/2019/07/15/amazon-prime-day-strike/

A couple things jumped out at me in this article.

Some of these changes, however, didn’t come about until Amazon came under fire from politicians such as Vermont senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, whose “Stop BEZOS” act spurred the company to raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour. Which sounds good, but in doing so, Amazon took away employee monthly bonuses and stopped issuing new stock grants to employees. Some say that this actually leads to less pay overall.

One is that Sanders created an act of government targeting a specific individual. (I think we know exactly what his administration would be like now). Two, 15 dollar an hour actually lowered wages, something absolutely no one saw coming and warned these leftist morons was coming./

There are actually some valid concerns brought forward in this article but all of it is pretty much eclipsed by the fact that this is a huge socialist push spearheaded by the Minnesota radical muslim community.

Kim Darroch, the UK ambassador to the U.S. he departed in a snit after his email was leaked, turns out to have been a real bastard. He leaked classified US intel to ‘journalists’ and we knew about it and investigated

keep this in mind tho – we’ve been living with press censorship for a long time. They choose not to publish stuff all the time. In my time alone, they never said a word about JFK running around, or his brothers, everybody had the stuff on Epstein since forever and didn’t publish, etc etc etc. Google isn’t doing anything the MSM hasn’t been doing for decades. Don’t get me started on Hollywood. As for Epstein’s research, Mark Zukerburg pushing a button, how is that different from an ad on TV. I’m not convinced about his research, people aren’t automatons. If people are selecting the first result Google throws up, it doesn’t necessarily mean what Epstein says it does. This is similar to discussions of where to place a candidate’s name on a ballot. Yeah, there are people who are voting who have no clue, there always have been. I think social groups have much more influence than that.

They say 380 has good grouping to about 25. They do say 9mm luger may cause your gun to blow up depending on the quality of the metal.

    93 | July 15, 2019 10:52 pm

    @ Deplorable Martian Overlord:

The overall cartridge length of a .380 round is very close to that of the Makarov round, so it will probably chamber. I doubt that you’d get a 9mm to chamber, since it’s longer.

Pressure-wise, a gun designed to fire the Makarov round should have no problem with .380, since it’s about 10% lower pressure.

Where you’ll run into issues is with the bullet diameter. The Makarov bullet is slightly larger in diameter than a .380, so it will fit, but not properly. I would expect to see accuracy issues as a result.

The bottom line is that yes, it’s possible to fire .380 ammo out of a Makarov without it blowing up on you (but NOT the reverse!), but it’s not ideal.

THey said the luger will chamber but if you have the aluminum body like mine it will overpressure. The steel bodies work ok but still not recommended.

    Yeah, I agree.

I do think I might try the 380 though. The ammo drought around here is killing me. As it is I’m about to cancel my range membership. (Both due to lack of ammo and since it’s summer I can always drive out to the public shooting area.

That’s worse than the 1.00 a round the .25 is.

Eventually I’ll order a couple hundred rounds of mak online, that’s the only way to make the shipping worth it. Ordering one box at 9.99 shipping is just bad. I did find out I can order at least 5 boxes for the 9.99 shipping so at that point it starts to work out better.
