Big Blues Bender Open

I got into town late this afternoon, got checked in to the world-famous Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, and headed downtown to see what was happening on Fremont Street. Boy, has that place changed since I was last here. It’s turning into San Francisco East.

I’m looking forward to a shower, and a couple of days of good old-fashioned American blues.

Anyway, I saw that the previous thread had timed out when I got back to my room, so here’s a new one to tide you over.

ADT jobs number is 30% higher than expected, 195k vs 145k expected.

Guess the recession song didn’t work

    @ eaglesoars:
The ADT numbers are a ‘leading indicator’

Companies do not hire in the face of a recession.

    @ coldwarrior:

I don’t know what sectors are leading those numbers but I’m sure somebody will say they’re crap jobs or something

Hey, when things calm down for you, I need to talk about the number of people who actually pay fed taxes. Everybody writes it as “45% of Americans pay 95% of federal taxes” – or whatever the percentages are.

I want to better understand what that cohort of Americans actually consists of. For instance, I doubt it includes many children, etc. But right now I don’t have time and I know you don’t either, this is just a heads up.

thanks, I’ll check it out later. I just stopped by to post this because it’s REALLY BAD.

A man who has served got 6 yrs in a volunteer fire dept in Penna was reported as having ties to Proud Boys. When he said he did, and was in the process of becoming a member, he offered to resign. But the fire chief refused to accept his resignation.

In response to the chief’s failure to accept the resignation, the moron who heads up the township, issued this statement:

‘The Bon Air Fire Company’s failure to address this matter conflicts with the public policy of Haverford Township, which includes ensuring that all persons are treated fairly and equally, and that all persons enjoy the full benefits of citizenship,’ Burman said in a statement.

And he SHUT DOWN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. Just in the name of ‘full benefits of citizenship.

I’m not kidding. My outrage meter is at ‘apocalyptic’.

So,let me get this straight. In order to treat everyone equally and fairly, the township refused to treat this guy equally and fairly. Thus, they refused to treat the chief equally and fairly. In turn, not treating the volunteer fire dept equally and fairly, and in the end not treating the community they served equally and fairly. Did I get this right? So, the only one treated equally and fairly was the antifa piece of crap that reported this to the head of the township. So, one person got fair treatment while hundreds, potentially thousands got treated like dirt, and that one person probably wasn’t even from the township.

    Asshats.

Mrs Federalist and I visited Vegas about 5 years ago. Nope, not cheap at all, the casinos are on to that idea of non-gamblers getting cheap food or lodging and have made prices just as bad, if not worse, than everywhere else.

We really saw no appeal to return. Best day of the trip was day trip we took to Hoover Dam.

It started with Samantha Fish. Also, I get Joe Bonamassa’s newsletters, which is how I first heard of Larkin Poe and Ally Venable. Also Hannah Wicklund.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day. Ally Venable is playing at one of the pool stages at 1:00, and Larkin Poe’s second show is at midnight. I may have to take a nap

I went to the Mob Museum today. That was pretty cool. It’s in the old Federal courthouse downtown. They have a “use of force” simulator that I went through. 2 interactive video situations and one with a live actor. I fired one shot at each of the video characters and killed them both, and disarmed the live actor without firing a shot. They were impressed
