I’m trying to get the crust on my bread just right and it is infuriating. This isnt a hard task! Man has been at this for thousands of years!
I am using a large Lodge Dutch Oven and doing this with fire outside on the grill. That said, this website is a great primer for this method. I haven’t pre-heated the Dutch Oven in the past but will try it now.
Merry Christmas!
I hope all my internet friends here have a great day

The Boxing Day Test is underway and I assume that you are watching. Oz won the toss and decided to bat first. Good early wicket from the Black Caps.
WE’re still presentless here. Daughter arrives on the ‘red-eye’ from Melbourne tonight so we are awaiting her arrival for presents time.
Weather is sunny and 24C here. Flat surf with no wind and just two souls paddling along the beach. I still have to wrap presents and cur a path down to the beach. The path is somewhat overgrown with the odd ‘wait-a-minute vine just waiting to trip you up. A weed eater should set things right once it cools down a little later in the afternoon.
Hope you hand yinz had a great Christmas

No wrong numbers, all very simple customer service issues. Ended the day with 9 calls- 4 of them before my first break.
I shall bid yinz goodnite w/another excellent article about our tyrannical gov’t – soon to be dead or in exile, their choice.
Democrat Delegate Lee Carter of Manassas sponsored HB 67, which would apply to any law enforcement official, noting that those who “willfully refuses to perform the duties of his employment,” will be terminated and ineligible for future law enforcement employment for another year.

This push for gun control in the Old Dominion isn’t about making the Commonwealth safer. The anti-gun rhetoric and attack on Constitutionally protected American rights are pushing Virginians to an untenable choice. Virginians are being forced to choose between exercising their rights and protecting themselves and their families or surrendering their freedoms at the end of a gun. It’s ironic, for a state that has the motto of “Sic Semper Tyrannus,” or thus always to tyrants.

Looks like Megan and Rebecca dusted off the mandolin and dobro for their latest “Tip o’ the Hat” cover video:
Finished up all the healthcare insurance for 2020. Me, just for me, not Hubby, it’s over $8k a year. I forget what my husband pays for Medicare, but I know women pay more than men because we live longer. So, ballpark, say he pays $6k.
$14k out of pocket for the household.
*thud*
On the other hand, back in 2017 when he needed heart (valve) surgery, it was over a quarter mil and I think we paid about $1700. So there’s that.
DOJ is requesting a one week delay for briefs needed for the sentencing hearing in the Flynn case. Too many people need to review, holidays, etc. I haven’t seen a response from Sidney Powell, altho I don’t see why she would have one.

Is that Medicare plus or are you still below that age?
/Asking out of curiosity as I plan retirement spending — Lord willing, I will be retiring before I am eligible for Medicare, so these costs are of tremendous interest in that planning.

morning y’all
AZfederalist wrote:
That’s Medicare AND Medicare plus. What people don’t think about – you pay for Medicare. And the amount you pay is means-tested. Because we aren’t retired and still have ‘work’ income…for me, it’s over $500/month. Medicare supplemental insurance is in addition to that. If you’ve started taking your Social Security, they deduct it from that, otherwise you get a bill every month (or you can set up auto-deduct).
When we formally retire in about a year, our income will decline considerably so those costs will also. In the meantime…

People seem to be wising up. Trump was just the beginning.
I have no idea what this means, but it’s probably important
University of Bristol experts created chips to generate the quantum information
They used ‘quantum entanglement’ to teleport the particles between two chips
The team say this could lead to the creation of a new secure ‘quantum internet’
The research is a ‘vital step’ in the process of creating more advanced circuits
Information has been TELEPORTED simultaneously between two chips for the first time which could help ‘protect the world’s data’ on superfast quantum computers

Football Savant Offspring gave her a child’s piano. Could have been worse….he could have given her a drum set….
@ eaglesoars:
I’m still using our office’s regular medical insurance and re-signed during open enrollment, but was told that in fact, I should investigate moving to Medicare next year and getting a supplemental plan. Would be nice if the firm offered such a plan to employees over the age of 65. Or maybe they’re prohibited from offering it. Right now I’m still looking at a $5000 deductible.

Navigating medicare supplemental plans is complicated. The first thing you have to do is make sure all your doctors take Medicare patients. Most of them will if you have been a patient previously. However, if you are a NEW patient, good luck. I’m having to do this for docs in Tenn and it ain’t fun. Then for the supplemental plans, make sure they cover all the meds you take. That can change from year to year, and you may find your doc has to re-write a prescription because your plan no longer covers it.
We had help. Our financial guys found us a health care ‘broker’ who knew all the plans available in Virginia and what their scope is. Tim saved my sanity, as my health issues are complicated and I probably could not have done it myself. Oh, and NONE of them cover hormone replacement therapy unless your doctor jumps up and down screaming like a banshee. They all, however, cover viagra. Go figure.
Well, THIS is an exciting subject for a Friday morning. jeez.
@ eaglesoars:
It’ll keep for me until open enrollment next year – I’ll pick your brain then. In the meantime, I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday! Meanwhile next Tuesday I’ll sit at home, watch the ball drop in New York, declare it 2020 in the U.S. and go to bed.

Black Caps up against it on Day #3 of the Boxing Day Test match in Melbourne. The Aussie batting was a tour ‘d’ force example of grit and patience in getting into a ‘can’t lose position. I’m afraid that the Black Caps are playing for a draw at best and at worst an Innings defeat. No weather in the mix either to use up those hours on the pitch in a desperate attempt to run the clock out.

I used to LOVE watching MSNBC broadcast his radio show in studio. I was never really a big fan of Imus, but I DID love how he made Clinton squirm at the White House Correspodents’ Dinner. And he got raked over the coals for it. Now, of course, if the headliner insults Donald Trump, they har-dee-har over it and think it’s simply GRAND.

I liked it too but I found his wife BEYOND tedious. She’d call in and tell people what to eat or something. Bossy, shrill and usually wrong.
