    Last resorts probably.

Better than trying to hit someone with an empty gun!

    But not much better.

Oh and bayonets are great for opening tins of baked beans when you have lost your opener too.

The big news this morning? Brace yourself,Prince Harry and Megan Msrkle have announced that they are dropping out of the royal family. Seriously, that’s big news and they say that they want to earn their own money.Riiiiiight.
She can act ,but Harry has no discernible talents or skills. Although he did make this announcement in his underwear ,so maybe he will do Tommy John commercials.

    @ RIX:
Oh you have NO idea just how big it is. After 2 years of everybody telling Harry he’d married a grifter – it turns out he’s married a grifter.

It turns out their announcement was made in defiance of the Queen’s explicit instructions to work thru the details first. They announced anyway w/o telling her or the royal family.

I won’t go into the details of the rules the press has to work with to report on the royals, but yesterday “a palace source” was quoted as saying “the deceit has been staggering”. That comes only with permission from Her Majesty.

“as we work for financial independence” is a hoot. It turns out they’ve trademarked just about everything you can think of. They think they’re going to monetize the monarchy. There have been rumors that their ‘charities’ have been set up in the US as an LLC. I gather it would work like the Clinton Foundation. Give to their ‘charities’ – of which Harry & Meghan are the biggest beneficiaries.

Right now, it looks like it’s all been about the money. The royals are really restricted in how that can generate income and they are dependent to a great extent on the Crown. Meghan figured that if they could thread that needle, they can make out like the Obamas.

word to the wise. Don’t piss off the Queen. A former king made that mistake and the next time he saw England he was in a coffin.

The good people of Britain are incandescent. If Harry & Meghan want their privacy and what passes for a personal life, fine. But even people who don’t support the monarchy as an institution revere Elizabeth and the disrespect shown to her has brought the knives out. They want those two back in Canada YESTERDAY

So taking a break from the politics.

This weekend I’m onboard for losses by both the 49ers and the Seahawks (yeah, I know the Vikes beat my Black and Gold last Sunday but they put up a hell of a game). I’d love an all NFC North Conference game. I also never want to see the 49ers in the Super Bowl EVER again. As far as the AFC – Ravens and the Chiefs.

However, I’m sure the word has already gone out in the deep channels that dumbass Goodell really wants a rematch of the Krapperdick Super “HarBowl” (“the night the lights went out in the Dome”). What he doesn’t realize is that probably over 70% of the country will be rooting for Baltimore.

My prediction is that unless someone has a very bad day (like Brees did), Baltimore takes it all.

L Lin Wood’s partner, Bob Barnes, served the individual defamation suits yesterday – to Reza Aslan, Kathie Griffin, Ana Navarro, Maggie Habermann and ELIZABETH WARREN.

    Links here:

    http://acecomments.mu.nu/?post=385216

Now I will remind everyone that Wood addressed a letter last February to these individuals that they were to delete their original libelous tweets and issue a public apology. Aslan didn’t delete his tweet until YESTERDAY, after the suit was served. Now he can be accused of spoliation of evidence.

    @ eaglesoars:

I was listening to John Nolte this a.m. on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius/XM and he also believes that it wasn’t that CNN was worried so much about the trial but about the DISCOVERY process in the lawsuit. I actually asked Wood on Twitter if he’d served discovery, but I seriously doubt I’ll get an answer.

If I were CNN, I’d be worried about the trial as well – especially after Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell” hit the theaters.

And those other individuals are probably going frantic in their Twitter feeds right now, realizing that they hadn’t deleted it.

    @ eaglesoars:

I’d have to say it’s within the realm of normal for a case that hasn’t actually proceeded to full-out discovery.

Of course, what’s hilarious is that CNN is claiming they are not admitting wrongdoing and their supporters are falling all over themselves saying that it’s not unusual for parties who are “innocent” in a lawsuit to settle.

Contrast this to the Trump U lawsuit settlement a few years ago when they “pounced” and stated this was proof that Trump was afraid of litigation oand that he KNEW he had been a con-man to these people.

Can I just say I’m very skeptical? My guess is leak one thing and then when the reality is a clear 180 from the leak, allege that Barr interfered and made them change the report.

Heard an interesting theory on that Iranian downing of the jetliner. They did it on purpose, assuming that the U.S. would fire back after the missile strike. When the U.S. DIDN’T fire, they first claimed that it was mechanical failure. Their claiming the Black Box was “destroyed” (but not producing said destroyed article) raised eyebrows. Also, under international law, they probably learned that the NTSB is permitted to investigate this accident as it involved a Boeing aircraft. And those NTSB guys don’t play. Now they’re all about cooperation.

Plus, apparently a video has emerged showing the shooting down of the aircraft. And there is a long sequence at the beginning where nothing happens except the plane in the sky – maybe a minute or so. WHY would someone think to start filming NOTHING and then happen to catch a plane being blown out of the sky, unless perhaps it was your plan to blame the Americans and use it as evidence.

Iran Is Using Bulldozers On The Ukrainian Plane Crash Site

Iran has used bulldozers to move around pieces of debris from a crashed Ukrainian passenger jet, possibly destroying evidence that could help prove what happened to the doomed flight.

Images and reports from the crash site, just outside the Iranian capital, Tehran, show at least one bulldozer working in the debris at the site, where the Boeing 737-800 crashed Wednesday morning, killing all 176 people on board.

The crash site is at the center of a tense geopolitical struggle over exactly what brought down the jet, which was operated by Ukrainian International Airlines.

Yep, that pretty much removes all doubt that Iran accidentally shot it down. That’s not how crash sites are handled. Every piece of debris is carefully mapped and documented, then carefully moved to a remote site where re-assembly is attempted to aid in the investigation.

Apparently a lot of people do. I find it reasonable that they thought it might be a U.S. aircraft and shot it down. I don’t see any reason they would take out a Ukranian passenger vehicle.

Of course, we don’t know anything about the IRANIANS that were on it. I’ve seen reports that the Suleimani supporters in the IRGC are being purged. That plane may have been a target-rich environment, especially if you remember that the Obama admin gave special status to quite a few of the Soleimani people (his daughter is a U.S. citizen).

The Republican Guards were on the highest alert level as the Iranian’s were expecting a Trump response to the missile attacks on the two US bases in Iraq.

Trump refused to be gulled into a response that would damage his re-election chances and de-escalated.
The Iranian Republican Guards were expecting a cruise missile attack and mistook the departing Ukranian Boeing 737-800 for a target. Idiots!

They fired two missiles. The first exploded in the general proximity of the B-737 and probably took out the ending on that side with shrapnel. Then the second missile actually struck the aircraft itself and that was the filmed explosion that was recorded. That missile caused the aircraft to begin to break up in the air, hence the very wide dispersal of the aircraft’s destruction field.

When the Iranians discovered that they had shot down a civilian aircraft departing on a regular transport route and following a Departure Procedure that took it close to an Iranian Revolutionary Republican Guard barracks they made up the story that it was an accident and a mechanical failure. They also refused to allow the black boxes to be recovered and bulldozed the impact field to cover up their error. Alas for them the US had a satellite overhead and recorded the whole attack. The intelligence was shown to Iranian representatives and that prompted the change of heart and the agreement to allow the NTSB and Boeing teams to investigate with Iranian Civil Aviation authorities.

The Republican Guards Unit that fired the two missiles are to be tried for negligence causing death. More moderate elements within the Iranians regime appear to be sanctioning the more maverick elements. Hence the fast stand down.

And we’d never send a B-52 into contested airspace in the first place. They carry standoff weapons for that reason.

If there’s any chance of SAMs in the target area, the attack would be carried out using B-2s.

THAT is the kind of thing that just guts me.

I’m surprised that being faced with actual facts got them to fess up. They’ve never been persuaded by facts before.

I guess a technical question I have is – HOW did the missiles get fired in the first place? there is no way that aircraft ‘looked’ like anything but a civilian plane.

I have to go to bed.

I find it reasonable that they thought it might be a U.S. aircraft and shot it down.

On second thought, no I don’t. ALL our military aircraft are going to have a next-to-zero radar profile and they must know that. Unless it’s a B-52 in which case it wouldn’t be at 8000 feet and climbing.

It was a Parot 3 Departure with a climbing Right turn once airborne to pick up the 305 degree Radial to way point Parot. Several aircraft had already departed on this departure protocol prior to the Ukrainian flight. I can understand a missile crew on high alert but to shoot down a departing airliner that was departing directly overhead the TOR (SA 15) missile battery location is insane. What were these idiots thinking? Makes one wonder why other departure aircraft using the same Parot-3 Departure weren’t engaged as well earlier in the night. Perhaps the missile crew were briefed that a US missile response was very likely and as the night wore on they became more and more paranoid.

As someone said earlier …. are these the folks who can handle the stress of operating nukes?

THAT is the kind of thing that just guts me.

It was dark and dark increases the level of paranoia in crews, especially if they are not well trained and commanded.

I cannot WAIT to see what happens with Steyer. He’s such a twank. Pompous little prick. Who still manages to be beyond boring

One thing I’ve wondered about the future – whatever you think about Trump, the entertainment value is off the charts

This is the typical islamic “inshallah” mindset. They are on high alert meaning that the missile operators had one finger on the launch button. As soon as a target was detected and weapon quality track established they launched. This is not an unusual approach for people in that area of the world.
