Senate does not appear to have the votes to open the door to witnesses tomorrow night. Collins and Romney for witnesses. Alexander opposed. Even if Murkowski is a yes, they don’t have the votes. 50-50 vote is a tie, which by rule, fails

Utah lawmaker files bill to allow recall of sitting U.S. senator

The lawmaker, Rep. Tim Quinn, R-Heber City, told the Deseret News in an interview Wednesday shortly after the bill was made public that it’s not meant to target any specific sitting Utah senator — but it comes amid heightened national attention on Sen. Mitt Romney, who has been among the few Republican senators publicly critical of President Donald Trump.

    @ eaglesoars:

    Sorry, it’s unconstitutional.

Senators and Representatives are federal office holders. There would have to be a Constitutional amendment to allow them to be recalled.

And there’s nothing to say that Manchin and Jones will vote with the Dems on this. And it will be interesting to see if there are any Dems that vote against removal. That would mean that it was bi-partisan AGAINST impeachment and bi-partisan AGAINST removal.

But if you believe the MSM, voting against removal is somehow going to work against the sitting Senators up for re-election. I say the Senate says “now that you’ve given us some interesting particulars, we WILL be opening up an investigation on the Joe Biden quid pro quo re Ukraine.”

And I really don’t think Bolton has anything. He wanted to get huge preorders for his book and the impeachment hearing provided the forum to do so.

Oh, and did all y’all catch Nadler beating Schiffty to the podium to answer the last question of the night? “Jerry….Jerry….Jerry…” The WH counsel table was seriously trying to suppress laughter.

Personally, I think an errant piece of fried chicken was left on the podium and Jerry spotted it. I’m also amazed that Pencilneck didn’t spring to the podium AFTER Nadler left to start some sort of “in closing” remark so that he’d get the last word.

You know how the left somehow always signals what they are going to spring on us down the road? Check this out

“Imagine Donald Trump deciding sometime in June, ‘Well, I heard this conspiracy theory that a lot of illegal immigrants voted in California, so I’ve decided that during the presidential election California has to undergo extreme vetting because we can’t trust their votes. We’re going to shut down voting in a state.’”

So look for massive voter fraud in Calif, enough to hold up the final count and cause more mayhem

  22. 25 | January 31, 2020 6:52 pm

    @ eaglesoars:

They have vote harvesting. They’re making sure it’s geared up so that those 7 GOP seats they stole in the last election stay in Democrat hands. However, I am hearing there may be a challenge to the law.

Plus, the homeless problem and sanctuary city issues in California may have some effect on the elections. The sanctuary city concept does not enjoy majority popularity; hence it all had to be accomplished at the legislative level – it has NEVER been subjected to a vote. Trump could garner a greater percentage of the popular vote here in this state. No, it’s probably not in play electorally, but I think he could get a LOT more of the black/hispanic vote if he acknowledges the problems. Schiffty, Lieu and Mad Maxie are looking at contenders in their districts that are pointing out the real problems at home that these clowns have failed to address.

McConnell has the votes to end this today.

But he’s apparently going to let it stretch out until Wednesday which means Bernie, Warren, and Klobuchar will need to be in DC during the Iowa Caucuses.

    That’s so savage.

Don’t forget that Trump will deliver his State of the Union address on Tuesday, in front of a crowd half-consisting of fully humiliated Democrats. Presumably, that’ll be one night before Cocaine Mitch has his chamber vote to acquit, but it’s SOTU so all the Democrats present will have to feign civility.

i make a mean ettouffe for a yankee. made a batch adn took it to an Er that i was working at. it has become legend.

the girls love the bugz. i get them sent up from LA. fresh when i can, parcooked and frozen is more affordable, frankly, i cant tell the difference. i had all of the neighborhood kids on the deck last summer eating them. it was a blast! they ran through a ton of them.

i’ve had to put the wok over wood fire to get the right heat for properly done szechuan and cantonese. no control tho. no control means failure when seconds count.

just did a quick szechuan pork for a test. i have to be faster. it was really good, but man…i’m not used to going this fast. my escoffier mind needs adjusting!

Yeah, and my mother’s nanny, Eldreama, and somewhere in history there is the slave who was in charge of Terentia’s kitchen. She was Cicero’s wife. Entertaining in Rome in early B.C. was even more politically fraught than it is now. I’ve read REAMS of the stuff and can’t even imagine

Thanks for the link. Just an aside — haven’t been to HotAir in ages. Their censorship policies drove me away, especially after a very prolific poster was banned for making a comment regarding immigrants. … and when they went to facebook for their postings, I was turned off for good. Following your link, two things hit me: 1) They’ve gone to Disqus — that Fakebook think must not have worked out so well and 2) Only 16 comments on a HotAir thread. They are sucking wind. Voter fraud + smart redistricting by the dems that goes unchallenged by republicans terrified of being labled racist = liberal republicans and democrats being voted into office.

Montana is worse off than Utah, we keep voting in dems even though we are a majority republican state. The dems only control a small part of the state, but due to how the lines are drawn they are more important than what the republicans control.

Millions of surgical gowns made in China are being recalled because they may not be sterile. Surgeries are now being canceled in some hospitals.

Alan Levine, CEO of Ballad Health in Tennessee, said they had to reschedule 200 surgeries.

“We still don’t know if whether we’ve hit the worst of it or not,” Levine said.

I’ll say. I hang out at a Brit blog and the language there is not any I would EVER use – and I’m hardly Miss Manners.

‘Out Of The Political Closet’: Bill Kristol Says He’s A Democrat Now. Twitter Reactions Pull No Punches

Political pundit Bill Kristol tweeted “we are all Democrats now” on Saturday, drawing strong reactions from Trump supporters all over the internet.

“Not presumably forever; not perhaps for a day after Nov. 3, 2020; not on every issue or in every way until then,” Kristol wrote. “But for the time being one has to say: We are all Democrats now.”

Looks like Michael Moore wants to be the face of the Bernie movement. He was the featured speaker at a Bernie free Bernie rally. I say more power to him, it would be perfect. Even most of the loonie left can’t stand Moore.

Bantu means African. Slat? swap a vowel and you will be enlightened.

don’t have to. ‘slattern’ means a dirty woman. It’s pretty much archaic now.

.. and this is the enemy that the US is up against!

Can’t even make a sterile surgical gown and you can be sure that unless someone from outside China finds out about it first, these gowns will go into hospitals for general use. “The corruption strong with these people is”… Yoda….
