The Black Heart of Liberals

from our deplorable martian overlord (on the last thread):

/—
The psychology of the left is equal parts fascinating and repulsive. They view themselves as above all others thus their hatred of all things religious. They have an innate need for revenge against all slights real and imagined because this ego is actually extremely fragile and anything that threatens it threatens their entire worldview. They have a saviour complex that tells them that since they are the most evolved being in existence they are the ones who must save the world so they create crisis after crisis in their minds that must be “solved”. That the damage created by these solutions also hurts those that they want vengeance against is a bonus. They create enemies to unite their non-united factions to unite against, they simply use the boogeymen of their imagined enemies and direct the internalized hatred and rage that all leftists have and direct it, otherwise it will inevitably turn on those within their movements.
—/

i might add a converse: Conservatives would say: do what you like, but there will be consequences for your decisions and actions. you may learn from these and gain wisdom, or not. your choice.

I would add one more characteristic to their mindset: the need to belong. They really do need a hive environment. That’s one reason why shunning is one of their first weapons. Anything that threatens the hive must be destroyed.

    Like this.

WashPost Columnist Max Boot: Blacklist Fox News ‘as We Do with Foreign Terrorist Groups’

In a Monday op-ed, the Washington Post called on heavyweight telecommunications corporations to shut down conservative cable news outlets including Fox News, One America News, and Newsmax TV, comparing the need to do so with that of shutting down foreign terrorist influencers.

The essay, penned by prominent Trump critic Max Boot, a Post columnist and CNN global affairs analyst, begins by explaining how merely holding the president accountable for “his role in inciting this violent insurrection” is “insufficient.”

“There is a whole infrastructure of incitement that will remain intact even after Trump leaves office,” Boot writes. “Just as we do with foreign terrorist groups, so with domestic terrorists: We need to shut down the influencers who radicalize people and set them on the path toward violence and sedition.”

The essay then heaps praise on the recent purging of conservative voices on social media platforms by tech giants, hoping that broadcast media will follow suit.

“Anyone who cherishes our democracy should be grateful to the management of Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites for their newfound sense of social responsibility,” the op-ed reads. “We should expect at least the same level of responsibility from broadcast media — and in particular from Fox News, which has the largest reach on the right.”

The essay then criticizes Fox News for not issuing an edict to stop “spreading false claims” regarding election fraud.

“Cumulus Media, one of America’s largest talk-radio companies, has ordered its hosts — who include some Fox News personalities — to stop spreading false claims of election fraud,” Boot writes. “But Fox News itself has issued no such edict.”

The author then suggests that if key members of the Murdoch family, which owns News Corp and its sister company Fox Corp., won’t comply, then large cable carriers should have Fox News shut down.

“If [they] won’t listen, then large cable companies such as Comcast and Charter Spectrum, which carry Fox News and provide much of its revenue in the form of user fees, need to step in and kick Fox News off,” states Boot.

The essay also targeted other conservative outlets.

“And if smaller competitors such as One America News and Newsmax continue to incite viewers, they, too, should be booted off,” the author writes.

Claiming that the United Kingdom “doesn’t have its own version of Fox News” due to a government regulator, the essay concludes with a demand that Joe Biden take heed.

“As president, Biden needs to reinvigorate the FCC [Federal Communications Commission].”

Glenn Greenwald: The piece also talks about media but this is the part where it talks about surveillance

It features Jeremy Bash — one of the seemingly countless employees of TV news networks who previously worked in Obama’s CIA and Pentagon — demanding that, in response to the Capitol riot, “we reset our entire intelligence approach,” including “look[ing] at greater surveillance of them,” adding: “the FBI is going to have to run confidential sources.” See if you detect any differences between what CIA operatives and neocons were saying in 2002 when demanding the Patriot Act and greater FBI and NSA surveillance and what this CIA-official-turned-NBC-News-analyst is saying here:

they need to look out or they will loose control. capitalism abhors a vacuum. push the conservatives off of the media and a new media will rise that they will have zero control over.

And now the truth comes out…

Antifa in Seattle and Portland Smash Property, Oppose Biden, Police: ‘We Are Ungovernable’

Far-left activists vandalized buildings and clashed with police in the Pacific Northwest on Jan. 20, voicing their opposition to the government, law enforcement, and the freshly sworn-in President Joe Biden, with some carrying signs reading, “We are ungovernable.”

In Portland, black-clad activists with their faces covered broke windows and the glass door at the Democratic Party of Oregon business office, spray-painting an anarchist symbol over the party sign, video posted on social media showed. Some of them tipped over garbage containers and lit the contents on fire, according to reports.

“We don’t want Biden. We want revenge for police murders, imperialist wars, and fascist massacres,” read a banner they marched under, while others carried a banner saying, “We are not governable,” which was dotted with anarchy symbols.

Portland Police confronted a crowd that gathered outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement building near downtown, with some in the crowd later burning a flag in the street.

According to KATU, the protest was billed as a demonstration against the Biden inauguration and law enforcement. At one point, demonstrators were approached by Portland Police officers on bicycles, with some people in the group taking an officer’s bike and throwing objects at retreating police.

Eight people were arrested in Portland on charges that include rioting and reckless burning.

    @ Bunk X:

I’ve not served in the military so I’m not qualified to have an opinion. But I have a question.

There is somebody of some rank who is their commanding officer. I gather that person was not interviewed, but how the hell to you allow your troops to be treated like that without raising holy hell? I realize the CO couldn’t go to the media (or maybe this is the result of just that) but somebody along the chain of command needs a serious ass kicking.

And I really don’t want to hear “I’ve slept worse in some godforsaken STAN”. This is their home

    Good morning!

National Guard troops were forced to evacuate the Capitol building grounds on Thursday and hang out in parking garages, allegedly after a Democrat congressman complained about one National Guard member not wearing a mask at a cafe in the building.

According to a source, Rep. Will Keating (D-MA) reported to the Capitol building authorities earlier in the day that a National Guardsman was seen in a Dunkin Donuts without a mask on.

After Keating commented out loud that masks were required to be worn at all times in a federal building, the National Guard member responded, “I appreciate my freedom,” according to the source.

National Guard commanders are now looking for the National Guard member, according to the source.

    BOO!

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says her absence from President Joseph R. Biden’s inauguration was a response to the fear she feels around Republican lawmakers.

The New York Democrat told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that a string of recent events involving the riots at the Capitol, objections to the Electoral College vote, and gun-toting politicians were too much to bear.

This was supposed to be a show of force, and unity, and you weren’t there. Explain it,” Mr. Cuomo said Thursday evening.

“I think we also had very real security concerns as well, as you mentioned earlier,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez told the “Cuomo Prime Time” host. “We still don’t yet feel safe around other members of Congress and … a lot of members do not feel safe.”

Mr. Cuomo, seemingly stunned, then responded: “You really think that colleagues of yours in Congress, may do you dirty?”

“Yes, well, one [lawmaker] just tried to bring a gun on the floor of the House today,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez replied.

    https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/jan/22/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-says-fear-of-gop-lawmaker/

But the thing is, that wasn’t known until later so that wasn’t what kept her away

Harvard’s top astronomer lays out his controversial theory that our solar system was recently visited by advanced alien technology from a distant star.

In late 2017, scientists at a Hawaiian observatory glimpsed an object soaring through our inner solar system, moving so quickly that it could only have come from another star. Avi Loeb, Harvard’s top astronomer, showed it was not an asteroid; it was moving too fast along a strange orbit, and left no trail of gas or debris in its wake. There was only one conceivable explanation: the object was a piece of advanced technology created by a distant alien civilization.

Stolen election, denying the nation an audit of the contested ballots, complete shut down of media platforms trying to state the case to the public, Reichstag Fire for propaganda organs to blame the opposition with and the call of a division of troops to accept the transfer of power for an alleged fair and free election.

This is how dictatorships come to power. Alas.

I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Coldwarrior for his genuine hospitality and welcome into his home. The cigars, booze and intense engagement in conversation and wit was well worth the long drive. I do appreciate you opening your door and introducing me to your lovely family. Historically, yes. With Nixon’s reapproachment of China the diplomatic dance got a little twisted – there is a One China policy and Taiwan is part of China, that the dispute is internal and needs to be settled by them. The reality is different. A lot of Chiang’s people ended up there and we committed to their safety. That commitment stands. Given China’s recent hostile profile globally (South China Sea, etc), nobody trusts China to not go medieval on anybody if given half a chance. THEN you look at a map and there are all these islands and – oh shit – Japan. After what Japan did to China…

So yeah. War is bad for business and our navy sucks.

    This should be fun

Just months after Elon Musk moved his climate-change-fighting, alternative energy, “green” automaker to Texas, the CEO now has plans to drill for natural gas.

Multiple sources reported on Friday that Musk’s SpaceX intends on drilling wells close to the company’s Boca Chica launchpad, according to the Dallas News. The information came out Friday during a hearing before the Railroad Commission of Texas, the state’s energy regulator. SpaceX says it plans to use methane from the ground “in connection with their rocket facility operations.”

Well, SOMEBODY thinks it’s a big deal

Taiwan reports large incursion by Chinese air force

Eight Chinese bomber planes and four fighter jets entered the southwestern corner of Taiwan’s air defence identification zone on Saturday, and Taiwan’s air force deployed missiles to “monitor” the incursion, the island’s Defence Ministry said.

China, which claims Taiwan as its own territory, has conducted almost daily flights over the waters between the southern part of Taiwan and the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands in the South China Sea in recent months.

However they have generally consisted of just one or two reconnaissance aircraft.

The presence of so many Chinese combat aircraft on this mission – Taiwan said it was made up of eight nuclear-capable H-6K bombers and four J-16 fighter jets – is unusual.

The Chinese learned a hard lesson as well when they took on Viet Nam in the late 1970s? VietNam suffered 30,000 dead and China suffered 50,000 dead about the same as the US over all of the years in /Nam. Two tiny slivers of land was all China came away with and the PLA was shown to be irrelevant in modern warfare.

Since then the PLA have professionalised their armed forces. Second tier forces however are still very suspect as are integration into All Arms Conflict tech.

Marjory Taylor Greene is a freshman Congresswoman from someplace in Georgia. She’s a whack job apparently, supposedly a QAnon person and a plane-didn’t-hit-the-Pentagon person. That’s what OTHER people have said about her, I’ve not heard any of that from her directly. Her campaign featured her with a variety of long guns.

She’s an absolute firecracker and she will not shut up. She’s already started impeachment based on Burisma. She and Lauren Boebert (Colorado) – who insisted on carrying her weapon to work with her – are going to be formidable. Lauren is sane, Marjory may not be. I sort of view her as that Irish nut job, Stephen, in Braveheart, who was King of Ireland and talked directly to God because God was his only equal and he hooked up w/William so he could kill Englishmen.
