WHITE HOUSE: Florida should close bars, restaurants, gyms to slow COVID spread

Florida bars, indoor dining, gyms and any other indoor spaces where masks are not worn 100% of the time should be closed down to stop the spread of COVID-19, according to a White House Coronavirus Task Force Report.

The recommendation comes as the state is seeing a slight decrease in new coronavirus cases, test positivity and hospitalizations.

The report, which was officially released on Jan. 17, was just recently made available following a News-Journal public records request to the Florida Department of Health.

The state did not respond to questions about how, if or when the recommendations will be put into effect.

CDC orders mask mandate for planes and public transportation

The order says it “does not intend to rely primarily on these criminal penalties but instead strongly encourages and anticipates widespread voluntary compliance.”

    Here’s the actual order

I looked up the citations. They actually do appear to have that authority under existing transportation and public health laws. That’s why it only covers transportation, because it’s a federally-regulated area.

    hi ya!

Mark Cuban has an idea for killing the shorts – and also it looks like Wall Street Bets is close to become a huge distributed fund on its own.

I’m not sure I understand Cuban’s idea. I seem to remember something called rehypothecation from back in the mortgage crisis – and it was extremely dicey. But it’s an interesting read in any case.

Are you aware of the controversy involving Black Rifle? There are idiots on the right trying to do exactly the same thing in reverse to them, because a search of the FEC database shows that Evan donated $500 to Obama in 2008 (which he claims was the result of losing a bet), and a similar amount to Tulsi Gabbard (which happened at the time she was being squeezed out of the Democrat debates).

Those two donations–made by Evan personally, using his own money–are now being turned into “Black Rifle is a lefty front!”

Fortunately, most people are smarter than that and ignore those fools

Just laugh and spit in their faces if they suggest that they can ‘store’ it for you in their ‘safe’ vaults.

Gold gets sold over and over again. Same pile of gold but new sales each time. The sellers show the gold and then suggest for security sake it’s better to leave it in their vaults because you can access it …. anytime.

No they actually exist but they ‘borrow’ these things for limited amounts of time and use them to place bets that their prices will fall and then they get to keep the difference.

Ditching the GOP is a bad idea born of justifiable frustration, and we need to stop being emotional and start being ruthless in our campaign to retake this country from these liberal establishment aspiring fascists. A third party is not the way. It is a bad idea, one that is technically impractical and which is strategically inept. It will lead to disaster. And the Democrats know it, which is why they love this third party palaver. The only thing that makes the tooting likes of Eric Swalwell coo in delight harder than some mediocre Chi Com honeypot is the thought of us conservatives committing ritual suicide by splitting our half of the country in two because some of the 50 percent of Americans in our camp are insufferable sissies.

    You bet it would

That’s the Democrats wet dream. Have their Republican opposition split their forces and begin to compete in-house.

The best idea strategically for the Republicans is to clean house and kick the RINOs to the curb. They have been a 40 year infestation and need to be cleaned out and their representatives primaries into oblivion. Getting the (R) forces organised and fighting fit is definitely the way to go.

NEVER split one’s forces. Concentration of maximum political power on key states and Democrat positions that are ‘dodgy’ will pay dividends.

Yeah, that’s all well and good because he knows the RINO’s are going to continue in power in the GOP and that those of us with principals must support the party at all costs. Splitting the party is bad, however, going after specific targets during primaries needs to be the aim of the Patriot sub-party within the Republican party. We can’t take all the offices from the RINO’s, but if we are strategic in targeting specific weak-kneed RINO’s, we might stand a chance of getting a few more Republicans with a pair and a backbone into office.

It’s not even at the state level in most places, it’s local. You would not believe how insular the R party is in Virginia. I swear, they still look back to whether or not any of you ancestors fought for the Confederacy before they’ll talk to you. Unless, of course, you happen to belong to one of the sociallly ‘protected’ groups. Which is anything but straight/white. None of my ancestors fought in the Civil War (wrong ages) but as soon as I say “My granny’s house on Opelousas Ave” all the doors open.

The FBI already knew that the Communists were the enemy. Its infiltrators were there to disrupt and discredit them. Alas, today’s FBI places red-state conservatives in the same category once occupied by the Reds.

And in general that is true. Our vet though is concerned about one of our cats who has a condition called hemobartonella, which is a weakened immune system.

When we found her in June 7 years ago I think. She had fleas, worms, ear mites, was dehydrated and anemic. The Emergency Vet said she wouldn’t have made it another hour. Because of the hemobartonella, she had multiple transfusions, including 2 the first week. We just can’t take any chances at all with her.

And while we are on the subject of false positives. When applying for my green card I had to have a full medical exam. One of the tests was a TB test.

In England we were inoculated against TB as kids so if you look it up I should have tested positive for TB.

    I did not.

TB vaccinations used to be on the arm. So was smallpox. TB scar is about the size of a 10 cent piece. Smallpox is a round bump about a quarter of an inch in diameter. Both fade in time but if you look closely they are there.

In England they switched from giving the TB inoculation in girls from their arm to their upper outside thigh.

Reason was the scar on arm was disfiguring due to the trend to wear arm showing clothing.

    How times have changed.

If you’ve had the TB vaccine and test positive, I think there’s a different test they can use.

Not to mention the good old-fashioned chest X-ray. I had to have one of those when I went to Kuwait as a contractor.

Thankfully when I went to the doctor to get a full, and I mean very full as in $2000 full he knew why I tested positive for TB..

Signed be off without a chest xray and six months of TB meds.

22-tweet thread by a lib at DC on 6 January is, um, dramatic.

    @ Possum:

The TB vaccine is not commonly given in the US. It’s available, though. They offer it where I work, but I never got it.

They may have to start making it a routine childhood vaccine, though, if Biden gets his way and we basically open up the southern border to anyone who wants to show up.

    @ Bunk X:

I am convinced that if Congress doesn’t act to do something about this quickly, these people are going to keep going and the unrest and violence will get more widespread and more uncontrollable. This is a crisis. It’s real. It’s happening. It must be taken seriously.

I actually agree with him there, although I doubt that we have the same “something” in mind for Congress to do. He probably wants them to establish re-education camps for Trump supporters or something.

If they want to actually solve the problem, they can start by ending the impeachment farce. Then there needs to be an actual investigation into how the election was conducted, with real consequences if they find it was rigged.

Of course, neither of those things will happen.

I was a very nice immigrant. I was asked for my vaccination records and of course I could not get them.

I am old, I had chickenpox, mumps, measles, German measles ( now called Rubella for some reason ) and probably other things there was no vaccine for.

As a condition of getting my green card I had to be vaccinated. So I did.

About seven stabbings in my arms and my ass. Then the nurse smiled and said…

” while you are here do you wat a flu shot? it is only $25 ” and I got stabbed once again.

Why am I rambling on you may ask?

Because I am really angry that illegals get into the USA so easy and us legal immigrants have to go through so much and behave ourselves once here.

A lot if not most of the hispanic citizens around here don’t want the illegals coming in either. They consider them the equivalent of white trash (or worse).

So was the smallpox vaccine. They stopped giving that one because it no longer exists outside of a couple of labs. It’s still given to the military, though.

Kids in the US don’t get TB shots because it was basically unheard of in the US until the last few years.

Yup. I live in the state with the highest percentage of Hispanic residents in the entire country. Nobody here is demanding that they open the borders.

And that’s what most of us branded as “anti-immigrant” are complaining about too. We want people here, the right way.

So you don’t get deported over a traffic ticket. You’re here to do the work that Americans won’t do. At least that’s what we’re being told.

    I just exist here.
