Rep. Tanner’s exit could spell doom for Democrats in 2010

The Progressive controlled Democratic Party gained control of Congress in 2006 after years of vicious Alinsky style attacks on the Republicans. They also ran deceptive “Conservative” Democrats in Republican districts to achieve this. The trick worked and they not only won in 2006, they also made gains in 2008 as the GOP sat back and didn’t respond to these ruthless attacks.  The tide has now turned!

In 2009, the Conservative-Libertarians resistance finally turned the tables on the Progressives. Copying the same tactics the Left used on Bush, the Right has used them on Obama. His poll ratings are in the 50% range after being as high as 65%. In Congressional races, the Republicans are now ahead for the first time in years. With the writing on the wall one Blue dog has decided to retired, Rep. John Tanner. This worries the Progressives as this might start setting a trend.

Tennessee Rep. John Tanner’s decision to step down at the end of his term has Democrats worried that a trickle of retirements will turn into a flood.

Democrats won their majority in 2006 — and built on it in 2008 — in large part by running conservative Democrats in Republican-leaning districts. But with Rep. Dennis Moore (D-Kan.) and Tanner now heading for the exits, there’s growing concern that the party’s strategy may be unraveling just in time for 2010.

“It’s the beginning of an avalanche on our side,” one Democratic strategist said. “Morale is bad, and we’re seeing guys in their 50s and 60s, who have some time left, who can make some money and have a phase two in their careers.”

Before I applaud a possible Republican comeback in Congress there are things to consider. Which Republican Party will be in charge of Congress? Will it be the Compassionate Big Government part that sends our Military to build schools and spread Democracy in the Muslim world nonsense? Or will it be the Libertarian leaning Conservative Republican Party that believes in limited government, Free Markets and only using our Military to defend our interests, not the spread democracy in the Muslim world nonsense? That is why I’m not all celebratory about it. What’s the point of replacing Progressives with Progressive lite? This something for us to consider as well.

Tanner’s retirement is a bad omen for the Progressives. He sees the writing on the wall and the Left better take notice.
