It’s apparently a state secret that they were beefing up security. When the head cheese is telling us that “everything worked”, they don’t want it to get out that they’re having an “oh shiite” reaction.

This is reminding me a lot of Climategate. Shut the whistleblowers up, and accuse them of criminal activity.

If you recall, this is the attorney who witnessed the BVD bomber hornswoggling his way on the plane without a passport.
