NY Times justifying high unemployment during the Obama Boom

In the 2000’s when 150,000 jobs a month were created, the Progressive media called it stagnant job growth. They would compare Bush’s record to Clinton and use it as a club. The truth is that due to the nature of the global economy, America is uncompetitive because of its tax and regulatory structure. We have a 20th century model competing in a 21st century economy. The result has been declining wages and living standards for Americans since 2001. Yet the media blamed the Bush tax cuts for this decline and convinced Americans that Conservative policies failed, never mind that Bush was no economic Conservative. Now that Barack Hussein Obama is president, the media is saying that low job growth and high unemployment is normal.

With the release of the December jobs report, employment now officially sits at 9.4 percent and over half of those people have been out of work for over six months. That’s the highest long term unemployment rate since World War II. On top of that, more than 12 million people would like to be employed in full-time jobs but have either given up looking or can only find part-time work.

Yet despite the employment situation, the United States economy continues to recover. Consumer spending is up and investment and corporate profits are doing fine. So how is it possible that by some indications we are currently living in the worst economic conditions since the early 20th century, and by other measures we are living in the most economically productive time in all of history?

That’s right, things are as good as they are going to get. This will be the theme of Obama’s 2012 campaign. He will claim things are the best they can be and will run on his personality. He will use the Tuscon shooting to remind people of his healing abilities and will make it a personality contest. None of the GOP hopefuls like Romney, Palin, Huckabee or Gingrich have any new ideas to restore economic hope and opportunity for Americans. Instead they will push family values and just the mantra of less government to try to beat Obama. This will not work as Obama will make it about him and thus win.

This paragraph from the NY Times article shows the dishonesty of Progressives by smoothing over bad times.

The problem is not over for the persistently unemployed workers, and it’s hard to forecast how long it will take to return to a much lower unemployment rate. Still, U.S. labor markets are relatively free, training opportunities are numerous, and America has not ceased to be a land of opportunity. The current discomfort is not a death rattle, but we do need to learn to live with the growing pains.

Can you imagine them saying this is a Republican was President?

Update: The media’s lies of an Obama Boom and his new message of national healer is working. His approval rating is back upamong various polls. The GOP’s surrender in the lame duck session and their lack of aggression is making Obama look strong. The Progressive propaganda is working and unless the GOP gets serious about economic reforms, Obama will be re-elected in 2012.
