NJ. Governor Chris Christie has become a rock star on the political scene. His taking on of the teachers union and pro-business policies set the model that other governors, including Democrat Andrew Cuomo. There is even a draft Christie for President movement trying to get him in for the 2012 race. Clearly, he will be formidable for his 2013 re-election, despite the hit in popularity he has taken.

The Democrats feel NJ is their natural territory. To defeat Chris Christie, they will need someone with the caliber of a rock srae. Well they potentiually have one, Bruce Springsteen!

Has New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie already seen his “Glory Days?”

According to a new poll by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic-leaning firm, the man who has become a Republican rock star nationally could face some troubles at home. The poll showed that Christie’s approval rating in New Jersey has sunk to 43%, a 10-point drop since the beginning of the year.

The PPP poll shows that Christie has particularly lost support among independents, a bloc crucial in a state where Republicans need such swing voters to win statewide. And the poll shows Christie losing in a hypothetical 2013 reelection match-up with Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a Democratic rising star.

The more intriguing race is a fantasy showdown between Christie and one of his biggest critics, the real, nonmetaphorical rock star, Bruce Springsteen.

According to PPP, the Freehold, N.J., native would start off any race tied at 42% with Christie, but with room to grow among Democratic voters.

Some NJ resident are ungrateful for the job Chris Christie is doing. Despite the fact he has prevented tax increases and is making the state friendly for business, the voters aren’t completely sold. The fact that Bruce Springsteen is tied with him speaks volumes about New Jersey. None the less, I feel Christie would defeat Bruce or even the Mayor of Jersey City. But a Christie vs. Springsteen election would be a battle of rock stars.

Update: No word yet if world famous Jazz Guitarist, Charles Johnson will run for California govenor in 2014.
