Israel and Colombia to strengthen ties

During the whole Palestinian recognition wave instigated by Brazil, Colombia stood firm and refused to go along with it. Now that nation signs a historic agreement with Colombia. Both nation’s defense establishment agree to closer collaboration.

Colombia and Israel will increase their cooperation in regards to defense and security, ministers announced Monday after a meeting.

According to Colombia’s Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon, the increased cooperation means a “new stage” in the bilateral relations.

His Israeli counterpart Ehud Barak said Colombia was “one of [Israel’s] best friends” and that Colombian and Israeli military corporations would increase investments in the other country’s defense apparatus.

Colombia is a rising power with geographic depth. Israel has high technological know how. This alliance benefits both nations greatly.
