Emmitt Smith donates to Wendy Davis campaign

Legendary Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith reveals his political inclination. He has donated $10,000 to campaign of Democrat gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis.

Team Wendy just landed an all-star running back.

Former Dallas Cowboys running back and NFL MVP Emmitt Smith donated $10,000 to the committee backing Wendy Davis’s campaign for Texas governor last month.

According to campaign filings, the CEO of EJSmith Enterprises donated the money on Jan. 8 to Texas Victory Committee, a joint effort from Wendy Davis for Governor and Battleground Texas, a group that supports Democrats in the state.

Emmitt Smith is a sports legend and icon in the popular culture. In a close election, an endorsement by someone of the legendary running back’s stature could tip the results. In the case of Wendy Davis, this is more of a statement by Smith of his political leanings.
