We Yinzers knew all of this already, but I might as well post it here:

Pittsburgh ranked second of all American cities , behind Honolulu, Hawaii, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Livability Index report.

The report ranks cities around the globe based on stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

Pittsburgh was named the 32nd most livable city in the world out of 140. The unit is the research and analysis division of The Economist Group and the world leader in global business intelligence.

Vienna, Austria replaces Melbourne, Australia as the most livable city in this year’s report.

Pittsburgh came in second-best of all the U.S. cities, behind Honolulu, Hawaii. The report ranks cities around the globe based on stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. The highest ranked American cities include: Washington D.C., Minneapolis, Boston and Chicago.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

No disrespect to Pittsburgh, been there, its not a bad place, but I do not see how anyone can take seriously a designation of “Most Livable” cities that places Chicago at #6 and San Francisco at #9. Just pointing out the obvious here folks.

I’m assuming that cost of living didn’t factor into the equation?

    @ lobo91:

It can’t have. San Francisco is one of the worst.
I actually had to go to our office in S.F. today. I had lunch at my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant and then walked the four blocks to One Market Plaza.

Oh my GOD – the streets in the Financial District smell like an effing sewer. And this used to be the NICE area of town. Now you slalom around the homeless standing in the middle of the sidewalk with their hands out trying to navigate the street.

I did notice one thing — there is a greater presence of on-foot police patrols in the area of Fourth Street down to the Ferry Building. I guess people who have the money and the clout may have been complaining.

    @ The Barbarian:

I have a legal question re: Michael Cohen’s guilty plea. He pleaded guilty to an act that isn’t a crime. He will be sentenced by a judge. How can a judge hand down a sentence for something that isn’t criminal? I assume there’s a statute noted in the plea Cohen supposedly violated, but it won’t fit the act. What does a judge do? Just follow along with the prosecutor?

People plead guilty to things other than what they actually did all the time. That’s what happens in most plea bargains.

they plead guilty to activities that are CRIMES. The act Cohen pleaded to is not illegal, it violates nothing.

What Flynn did was also not technically illegal as he admitted to erroneously mixing up dates when talking to the FBI. None of the FBI agents considered Flynn of lying to them willingly. Yet Flynn was terrorised by POLITICAL officials who used their power to threaten Flynn that he had to plead guilty or he’d be bankrupted and his son would also be attacked and bankrupted by the FBI / Justice Department in never ending prosecutions.

What is happening in the US is rampant suppression of citizens by highly politicised bureaucrats who are using the power that their positions give them to mount personal oppressive attacks on their political enemies. There bureaucrats are totally corrupt and have corrupted the power that the State has given them for their own ends.

Me too. Yet Kapolani Park has dozens of ‘rough sleepers’ who crap behind the trees and sleep in doorways during the winter (such as it is). The layout of downtown isn’t anything to be crowing about either.
