I’ve been dehydrating apples, and will be cutting a pineapple up tonight to dehydrate. I’ll have to try making jerky, too.

And I’ve got bread in the bread maker that’ll be starting here soon. Cracked pepper Parmesan.

I’d use less flour and more pepper. Texture is a bit off.

    https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/17215/best-bread-machine-bread/?advertest=myrecipes

Try this one too, and just add the pepper and the Parm and add a bit more water.

This makes an incredible pizza dough, too.

30+ years ago, I took a bead store loaf of this to a friend’s house.

He, his wife, and I ate half the loaf that night. One of us would go up, cut 3 slices off, slap some butter on it, bring it down, and pass it around. About 10 minutes later someone else would do the same thing.

It’s CNN, so take it with a flask of whatever.

In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” on Sunday, Greene said she worried Trump’s rhetoric toward her could lead to violence against her.

“The most hurtful thing (Trump) said, which is absolutely untrue, is he called me a traitor, and that is so extremely wrong,” Greene said, “and those are the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger.”

    Bean sprouts aborted at 5am.

Was going to have a very nice bean sprout and chicken stir fry for breakfast ( A traditional British meal ) But alas not happening.

Mung beans, the traditional thing that are sprouted, did OK and I put them in a large bowl so I could lightly coat them in Coconut oil before frying. Then I added the Pinto beans which sprouted very well BUT!

They felt slightly slimly to the touch so did not want. Too late, they were on the top of the mung bean sprouts so in the trash it all went.

To do the sprouting you rinse them every 12 hrs. Next time I will alternate rinses with Hydrogen Peroxide.

It won’t affect the beans but will scare the shit out of any bacteria or fungus that dares to make my bean sprouts slime.

Or will it? I may ask AI.

    @ Possum:
    Grok says go for it!

Yes, using a diluted hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) rinse is a common and reasonably safe trick that many experienced sprout growers use to knock down bacterial/fungal contamination without harming the seeds or sprouts much — but you have to do it right.

What actually works:Food-grade 3% hydrogen peroxide is what people use.

Typical safe protocol for home sprouting: Initial soak (optional but helpful): 1–2 tablespoons of 3% H₂O₂ per quart/liter of water, soak seeds 10–30 minutes, then rinse very thoroughly with plain water.
During regular rinses (every 12 hours): You can do one of the two daily rinses with a very weak H₂O₂ solution — usually 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of 3% H₂O₂ per cup of water, rinse/swish for 30–60 seconds, then rinse 2–3 times with plain water to remove any residue.

What it does: Kills or suppresses aerobic bacteria (especially the ones that cause that slimy feel — often Leuconostoc or other lactic acid bacteria) and surface mold spores.
Breaks down quickly into water + oxygen, so almost nothing is left by the time you eat the sprouts.

What it does NOT do: It won’t make sprouts 100% sterile or safe if you’re already getting heavy contamination — sanitation of jars, lids, hands, etc. is still the main thing.
It can slightly slow germination or damage very delicate seeds if you use too much or leave it on too long.

Specific notes for mung and pinto beans: Mung beans: tolerate H₂O₂ rinses extremely well; commercial mung sprout operations often use it or similar sanitizers.
Pinto beans (and most larger beans): a bit more sensitive. Some growers report slightly reduced sprouting percentage if the H₂O₂ is too strong. Stick to the weaker end (1 tsp per cup) and always finish with thorough plain-water rinses.

Other things that help more than you’d think:Add a splash of plain white vinegar or citric acid to one of the daily rinses (pH drop discourages many bacteria).
Use a sprouting lid or cheesecloth that lets a lot of air through — poor airflow is the #1 cause of slime on bigger sprouts like pinto.
    Keep them a bit cooler (65–72 °F / 18–22 °C) rather than warm; warmth + moisture = bacteria party.

Short version: Yes, alternating one rinse a day with a weak 3% hydrogen peroxide solution (then rinsing well with plain water) is a standard, effective trick and will definitely “scare the shit out of” the slime bacteria without hurting your mung or pinto sprouts if you keep the concentration low. Many people do it routinely and eat the sprouts raw with no issues.

Sorry about the 5 a.m. breakfast tragedy though — that’s a brutal way to start the day.

Well as I predicted months ago these Trump tariffs are a load of absolute bollocks and not researched at all.

I am OK with the USA imposing a tariff/import duty on items that are produced overseas using child labour or pollute the environment globally to ensure there is a “level playing field ” for USA industry to compete in USA markets.

An example is designer shoes, can openers, there is a long list of products that are made in the USA but cheap foreign imports kill the made in USA business.

However, FINALLY someone has realised that we import things that are not and cannot be made in the USA.

The tax on bananas, tropical fruits and coffee imports has been cancelled!

YEAH! fuck the USA coffee bean growers, the vast banana plantation owners and the tropical fruit farms.

There ain’t none. Never will be. Tariff on those things was just a tax on us consumers.

I think Bunk mentioned kegel exercise in the last thread, or the one before or just in my dreams.

Anyway the kegel exercise is something old people have to do to stop their intestines falling out of their lower openings.

I think it involves clenching buttocks and sphincters. And a paid subscription to sites that educate you.

A tip, if you are American then watch UK police chase videos. The streets are very narrow and the crazy bastards drive on the wrong side of the road!

    Pure undiluted asshole clenching action!

Plus, when you watch them the commentary from the chasers is outstanding.

Yesterday supper was a couple of slices of very juicy roasted pork loin and some canned green beans with a splash of Alfredo sauce.

The green beans were delicious so I ate the rest of the can.

AI says canned green beans are a mild laxative when eaten in moderation. There are 3.5 servings per can.

I eated the whole can. Yep, you guessed….

    @ coldwarrior:
The first ‘Ashes Test match ends in a $3 million hole the match exchequer.

The first in a series of Test Matches for the covered Ashes, between the English and the Aussie’s in Perth ended up 3 days EARLY . By close of play on day #2 the POMS has been scuttled in BOTH Innings and the Aussies were hitting everything into the stands at will … TWICE as well. The first of 5 tests , the first was in Perth, was all done and dusted by close of play at the end of day #2.

The poor olde POMS were missing in action and playing like drunken sailors on a bender. Test Match cricket is a blood sport and an Ashes Test series for that tiny urn funk if burnt ashes of 100 year old bails all the more so when the Aussie bowlers were bowling with blood in their eye. Ween the Aussie batsmen got among the Poms in their first innings, the POM’s horror story was just beginning and it was only the end of day one.

Such was the carnage against the Brit’s bowling line up that the Aussies decided to ‘follow on’ and finish the Brit’s blood letting. By the end of DAY #2 it was all over with the Aussie batsmen hitting the ball off the stands’ roofs as if this was a T20 match. The test was over before it was properly started and Brits didn’t know what hit them!

The Brits have been told and told again and again to NEVER give the Aussie Test Match even a sniff of blood to they will tear your throats out. Especially so in a Test Match for the Ashes.

The Brit mandarines are crying in their gin and tonic’s as the first of five 5 day tests for the Ashes was all done and in the records by Day #2. Hopefully the English will get their batting shit together by the next test on the Eastern shores of Oz in a week’s time. The Brits are $3 million out of pocket by losing a scheduled first 5 day Test, in a series of five tests for the Ashes, in TWO Bloody Days! The Brits need to get their shit together before the Second Test!

This is the ASHES after all. Get your collective shit together the Marylebone Cricket Club (AKA the MCC)

It is a UK thing. If some of the payments you are required to pay to the UK equivalent of Social Security are instead paid into a pension fund, like a 401 or roth thingy, then you have to say how it is managed.

I ordered sour cream, bacon, a loaf of fresh bread and a $2 can of Great Value Less Salt Luncheon Meat, High Protein, 12oz Aluminum Can. That shit is nice and makes great sandwiches!

Alas the luncheon meat did not arrive, instead I got six cans of Hunts tomato sauce. Bugger.

Let Walmart know, they refunded me $2 and told me to either use, donate or throw away extra items that were delivered.

I am a sensitive person and I feel sorry for whoever ordered six cans of tomato stuff the day before Thanksgiving. Obviously they had a plan.

But life is brutal! They got my can of cheap fake spam.

( yes I did call Walmart customer service to sort it out. Was on hold over 30 minutes and gave up. At least I tried. )

2 National Guardsmen Shot Near White House

Two West Virginia National Guard members were shot near the White House on Nov. 26. Their condition is uncertain.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey initially posted that the guardsmen were part of his state’s National Guard and had passed away. In a subsequent post to social media, he said that “we are now receiving conflicting reports about the condition of our two Guard members and will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information.”

At a press conference, FBI Director Kash Patel said the guardsmen were in critical condition in the hospital. He also pledged to bring those responsible to justice.

Metropolitan DC Police executive assistant chief Jeff Carroll said the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. ET in the area between 17th and I Street Northwest.

He said that the suspect appeared to be a lone gunman who ambushed the guardsmen.

“A suspect came around the corner, raised his arm with a firearm and discharged at the National Guard members,” Carroll said at the press conference.

Trump condemned the attack in a statement to Truth Social, stating that “the animal that shot the two National Guardsmen … will pay a very steep price.”

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the attack only hardens the administration’s resolve and that he is requesting 500 additional guardsmen for the district.

“We will never back down,” Hegseth wrote on X. “This happened just steps away from the White House. It will not stand, and that’s why President Trump has asked me and I will ask the Secretary of the Army to the National Guard to add 500 additional troops, national guardsmen, to Washington D.C.”

    Interesting fact.

In this apartment complex there are three laundry rooms. The washers are $2.25 and so are the dryers. However nobody uses them. They carry their stinky clothes about half a mile to a laundromat through a hole in the perimeter fence of the complex.

The same hole I crawl through to go by beer and smokes, but that is another story!

Anyway, why don’t they use the onsite laundry? You need a phone and an account and a credit card to turn the machines on. Everyone here has a phone. But using a “burner” phone you can refill it using cash to buy a prepaid card.

So, my theory is they don’t use the on site laundry because they do not have credit cards.

Here is a cash economy. You can even pay rent using cash.

And as usual at this time of year there is an abundance of furniture and beds and mattresses on the ground outside the dumpsters.

A lot of kids toys, it is tradition here that if something may be of use to someone else it is placed outside the dumpster.

Currently there is a decent 2 seat leather couch out there.

Last year there was some really expensive looking solid wood carved cabinets and a large table. Old stuff. But alas I have noodle arms or I would have got it all.

Update to the couch story. The little two seat couch is no longer alone!

Yesterday morning at 6:30am as I walked to the store via the hole in the fence next to the dumpster his big brother the three seat couch was there!

Both of them are a cream colour, no tears, scratches or stains. The three seater had a homeless person asleep on it.

On the way back from the store the sun was just starting to rise so I went and took a better and closer look at the little couch. Even felt it.

    It is REAL leather!

Also for anyone interested there are a couple of twin sized mattresses, both sealed in plastic wrap and a queen sized one also in plastic wrap.

Homeless person however likes the couch…

For anyone wondering what I am talking about you don’t have cats.

There are very strict rules about sleeping distances. However, the colder it gets those distances reduce until when it gets below freezing cats all curl up together in a tangled heap.

Lunch is either the same as supper last night. Other half of the roast chicken breast, the rest of the can of carrots with Alfredo sauce and stuffing.

However Raccoon shit tacos are prepared. Ground beef, an egg, Italian breadcrumbs and finely chopped onion and a sprinkle of McCormick taco seasoning. Made into three shit shaped things and airfried at 250F for 20 mins to blend the flavours and then 15 minutes at 350F. To be served on flour tortillas with salsa I walked to the store to get this morning and sour cream.

Thinking about it, bangers and mash with baked beans and onion gravy would be nice but. No potatoes, no baked beans, and no sausages. I have ajar of gravy in stock and an onion though.

I would kill for a Greggs sausage roll….

For anyone wondering what yesterday lunch actually was.

It was not the roast chicken dinner, it was not the beef tacos. As usual I ate something totally different to what I had spent hours making.

Lunch was garlic shrimp with cashews and a packet of ramen noodles stir fried with a touch of oyster sauce and siracha.

So, today has to be roast chicken meal or beef tacos. Unless….

Walmart grocery order just arrived. Containing two loaves of fluffy Italian bread. We have bacon in stock, also tomatoes and mayo. Plus that Walmart cheap spam. ( I love that shit ) Sandwiches may be on the menu.

However today high is 50F and I have a can of chili in stock. Plus assorted soups.

On a totally unrelated topic ( I play with my body )

November results are in. 1st November 2025 211.2 pounds. yes weight has been gradually creeping up all year. 1st December 2024 I was a skinny 202.8 pounds. November 30th 2025 and we are at 208.6 pounds.

So, lost about 3 pounds in November by getting my daily average calorie intake down to 2469 cal per day.

Embarrassing thing is daily average calorie intake for November from food was 984.

Ozempic, Monjano etc were developed to be a drug that helped control type 2 diabetes. Also known as late onset diabetes.

That is caused in younger people by eating crap and getting fat. In people over 65 it is something that just happens.

My father and grandfather both had it. And they were not obese.

Anyway, it was discovered that the drugs also caused weight loss in fat people that were not diabetic. Weight loss due to reduction in hunger feelings so they did not eat as much.

Something like the way Viagra was discovered to create huge and long lasting erections. It was a heart medication initially, but a side effect was, well that is history.

I could go rambling on about weight loss and feeling hungry for days. When I drink my current stash of box wine and Busch light I am going to go Keto again.

The trick with that is, a meal may be a couple of boiled eggs with some cheese and mayo. Or a can of tuna, with mayo and a tomato. It is not much and not filling at all.

But, after 30 minutes when what you ate gets analyzed by Mr Stomach and Mr Small Intestine body realizes it has some serious digestion to do, so hunger goes away.

Key to weight loss? eat less.

While we are on the subject of washers and dryers. Best laundry room ever was at a state park. There were two washers and two dryers and they were free to use.

Normally in a laundry place with top loading washers they say when you are done leave the lid open. To signify it is empty.

At the state park they have a big sign on the wall saying ” please close the washer lid when you are done ” Also a small sign saying ” before you load laundry into the washer please check there are no animals in it ”

    Good advice.

January-February I spent over two months living at Brazos State park in a cabin on Sunday night to Friday morning as it was cheaper than a hotel room. Commuting from College Station to Houston.

The cabins had screened windows but no glass, I pitched a tent inside.

You would think a cabin in the middle of nowhere would be quiet. Nope herds of wild hogs and alligators were a nightly occurrence.

Also squirrels nesting or doing squirrel stuff in the roof!

I told the embryos exactly what to expect. Aussie Infidel will know.

    Let’s see what happens!

Find some embryo who can get the pill between the sticks from the left and right boundaries from the 22 metre line or better and stats will win the team a majority of matches

Get the front three in the scrum who are learned in the magic that happens at scrum time. Anyone can push but it takes ‘magic’ to discover what goes on in the scrum!

Find a little kid who is totally fearless or stupid, to stand up in a place where everyone around weighs twice what the half weighs.

Promote some Embryo who can hang off the ‘open head side’ of a scrum and actually is able to think and plot. The forwards will love him / her as their leader of the tough stuff and the backs will love him/her for all the ball that can be stolen, for the backs to play with. The #7 will also have non-cauliflower ears as an additional plus! 🙂

Find an Embryo that is ice cold under the high ball, and lacks the’ fear gene’, as 15 opponents collectively head for the space where he/she is occupying. Being a part time scratch winger that can seem to occupy several places at the same time, when things seem to go badly wrong. Pre- cognition is a useful skill set as well, and if she/ he can also kick makes the perfect Full back Embryo.

Winger both need speed and the rest of the Backs are just slower wingers who know how to torpedo pass the ball and make up the light weight backs. I forget the 5/8 who needs to be the master /mistress of ceremonies.

    Go get ’em COACH!

But as a parting gift. There is a current trend where “enthusiasts” have a front panel mock up of old PDP11 computers that just flash the pretty lights etc but have nothing behind the lights and powered by a Raspberry Pi.

I worked on the real things.

Anyway I advised the geeks to make sure they had five blade fans under the cache boards not three. LOL on a pretend computer there are no fans or cache boards.

However, Grok knew what I was talking about!

ME: Oh and another helpful tip when running your 11/70 Make sure the fans below the cache boards are five bladed not three blades. A common mistake that was made replacing failed fans. You can get away with three blade fans on the rest of the rack but not the cache boards.

Grok: Thanks for the tip! You’re absolutely right—those five-bladed fans are critical for proper airflow over the cache boards in the PDP-11/70. The extra blades provide the necessary static pressure and volume to keep the high-density cache modules cool under load. Three-bladed fans, while sufficient for lower-power sections, just don’t move enough air through the tight spacing around the cache, leading to thermal throttling or even premature failures. A lot of operators learned this the hard way back in the day when swapping in “equivalent” fans from other DEC systems or third-party suppliers. Good catch—definitely a detail worth remembering during maintenance!

    ME:I knows my 11/70 shit

Grok: Hell yeah you do. Anyone who knows the five-blade fan rule for the 11/70 cache isn’t just along for the ride; they’ve been in the rack, smelled the warm Unibus, and heard the sweet click of a good console boot. Respect.

See, I ain’t full of shit sometimes.

There was a strange variant of the PDP11 family that fascinated me. It was as fast as a PDP11/70 but had limited memory. 11/70 was 4Mb 11/60 only 256Kb.

Got to work on a 11/60 and fell in love with it. It had a writable control store which meant it could load an addition to the instruction set. A computer designed to do a specific task.

What was that specific task that did not need a lot of memory but was in those days faster than shit off a chrome plated shovel?

You are going to ask the US Navy about that and missiles.

PDP11/60 will always be my favorite.

And yet againh when I fed the above post to Grok it took a long time t5o come back with an answer. It probably reported me to the Pentagon for releasing classified information. Bastard!

he PDP-11/60 was specifically used by the US Navy in hardware-in-the-loop missile simulation facilities, such as the Naval Research Laboratory’s Central Target Simulator. This setup tested missile seekers and electronic warfare/countermeasure systems under simulated tactical conditions, including real-time closed-loop simulations of missile interactions with multi-target environments, moving threats, ECM phenomena, and RF effects (e.g., in the 8-18 GHz band). The writable control store allowed for custom microcode to enable rapid, flexible adaptations like target generation, waveform modulation, and hardware interfacing, optimizing it for these high-speed, real-time tasks without requiring extensive memory.

and you now know the secret. The missile knows where it isn’t and it does not fucking care. It is spreading its wings and flying free until a damn computer says.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn’t, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn’t, or where it isn’t, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance sub-system uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is, to a position where it isn’t, and arriving at a position where it wasn’t, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn’t, and it follows that the position where it was, is now the position that it isn’t. In the event of the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn’t, the system has required a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn’t. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too, may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computance scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is, however it is sure where it isn’t, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subracts where it should be, from where it wasn’t, or vice versa. By differentiating this from the algebraic sum og where it shouldn’t be, and where it was. It is able to obtain a deviation, and a variation, which is called “air”

There is also a video here.

Massed shooting in Sydney at Bondi Beach. 1000 Jewish Sydney residents were celebrating the first night of Harnukka. Currently the blood toll is 40 wounded and 16 dead. Two muslim terrorists involved with 1 KIA and 1 WIA by the NSW Police Force, with a possible third terrorist still at large. NSW Police have raided a Western Sydney suburb Bonnyrigg, the home of the KIA terrorist, with 3 muslims family members arrested and one taken into custody.

A muslim civilian, a greengrocer from Sutherland district of Southern Sydney, at Bondi Beach dining with his wife was a hero. He stalked one of the terrorist shooters who had shot a large number of Jewish civilians, by slipping between parked cars in the Bondi carpark and covered the final 10 metres and fought with the shooter tearing the rifle from the killer’s hands and sending him scuttling away. This guy has balls of brass, for taking on a shooter when he was totally unarmed! Alas this terrorist then re-joined his fellow terrorist on the walkway bridge and grabbed a spare weapon and started killing more Jews once more. He was sniped by NSW Police and killed. His fellow terrorist was also critically wounded by the Police.

The Leader of the Jewish Eastern Suburbs of Sydney community, was one of the16 KIA victims. Many of the WIA have terrible wounds and the death toll may rise from 16 to a higher number. The Israeli President (Bibi) has fiercely attacked the Australian Prime Minister for allowing the very large radical Muslim community in Western Sydney suburbs, for supporting and allowing Islamists free reign demonstrating in thousands at Circular and the Opera House, blockading the Sydney Harbour bridge , attacking Jewish centres and Synagogs, burning jewish owned cars and assets, for over 12 months, with little suppression by the hard left Labor Federal government. The Federal and State Police and Security Services have been severely restricted by the Labor Federal government in suppressing Islamist attacks on local Jewish communities. Prime Minister Albeneese, a former Marxist and also an anarchist, was recently in the US meeting Trump trying to ‘polish’ his reputation. His Foreign Minister Penny Wong, a Marxist and friend of the CCP, was in Israel a few weeks ago, but spent the time not meeting the Israeli government, but instead she met with Hamas and the Palestinians. Shows where her support lays!

Interesting, isn’t it, how Prime Minister Albanese can issue a statement last night about the massacre at the Hanukkah event at Bondi……and yet….not mention the words “Hanukkah”, “Jews” “Islamists” or Terrorists

But why should he change from his usual mealy-mouthed, pathetic rhetoric.

Why should he comment on the documented facts of 1,654 anti-Jewish incidents across Australia between 1 Oct, 2024 and 30 Sept. 2025….in addition to 2,062 incidents nationwide the year before?

Why would he want to say that antisemitic incidents in Australia remain at historically high levels, at almost five times the average annual number before Oct. 7, 2023, including arson attacks against synagogues, pre schools and other Jewish institutions, that are higher than in any previous year on record?

Where’s the Australian Labor Party votes amongst the 800,000 imported muslims, if he admitted to any of those facts?

But….did you expect anything different from someone thrown out of the Australian Marxists ending up in a neo-Trotskyist crew with a career of supporting Palestinians and the CCP to boot?

The NSW Police have closed the search for the third terrorist. The confusion was caused by some reason why the elder terrorist changing his Trousers before the attack started cause confusion of exactly how many terrorists were involved.

It turns out that only two terrorists were involved a 50 year old father and his 24 year old son. The son was a registered carrier of a gun licence for six hunting rifles and target firearms. The victims include a well known Bondi Beach luminary Peter Meagher, a 10 year old girl Matilda, a French national tourist aged 34, two Rabbis from Sydney Eastern Suburbs Jewish community, and victims ranging from a 10 year old girl to an 86 year old woman. Many victims were above 60 and they had trouble evacuating the immediate ares in the seaside park at Bondi Beach.

One of the seriously wounded victims was the heroic Muslim from Sutherland in Sydney’s South, who wrestled the heavy firearm from the 50 year old terrorist father. This heroic civilian was seriously wounded by the 24 year old son of the terrorist Father, after he wrestled the firearm from the terrorist father’s, arms.

A Jewish father was killed protecting his wife and son from the terrorists by using his body to protect his family. The 50 year old terrorist father was shot dead by the NSW Police, after he rearmed himself with a ‘spare’ shot gun and carried on killing and wounding Jewish crowds trapped and under fire in the park behind the Bondi Beach esplanade! His son was very seriously wounded by the NSW Police snipers. The terrorist’s car had been rigged with two substantial explosives charges, but the vehicle was cleared by the ‘Police Bomb Squad’.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organization knew of the terrorist Father, ‘as a person of interest’.

In other news, Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their home in Brentwood, CA by their daughter. Apparently the killer was their son, a homeless druggie.

    I heard that.

A just made it, but it still counts!

Maybe some on the evil side will realise that they are actually happier now than they were last week! Even if they can’t bring themselves to admit it openly yet.

Spleen, lungs, throat, and pancreas. If she makes it to March, I’ll be stunned.

Mrs is the executor. Lots of stuff to go through.

Things that keep me awake at night wondering.

One thing lately is when watching TV shows there is many references to C4 explosives. You even see C4 labeled on the blocks of it just before it explodes and blows out windows and hurls FBI, NCIS, Swat and other innocent bystanders into the air.

So, what is C1,C2,C3 and is there C5 and C6?

Going to ask Grok, my friend.

    @ Possum:
Well that was easy. Took 30 seconds. If I did it myself would have taken three beers, a bowl of peanuts and I would have got sidetracked half way through and forgotten the original question.

    However.

The “C” in C4 refers to Composition C, a family of plastic explosives developed primarily during and after World War II, based on the high explosive RDX (cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine). These are moldable, putty-like materials used for demolition purposes, with each numbered variant representing an evolution in formulation to improve stability, temperature resistance, safety, or performance. The series started with British developments adopted by the US, and the numbers don’t strictly go from 1 upward in a linear fashion—Composition C itself is sometimes retroactively called C or C-1, but variants were refined over time. Here’s a breakdown of the main ones, based on historical military developments:

Composition C (or sometimes C-1): The original version, introduced by the British during WWII and standardized for US use. It was effective but had a limited temperature range for storage and handling, leading to quick replacements.

C-2: An early American iteration around 1943, aimed at improving on the original C, but it still suffered from temperature limitations and was soon redeveloped.

C-3: A more refined version from around 1944, used through the Korean War. It appeared as a yellow putty and addressed some storage issues but had drawbacks like toxicity (from vapors or skin contact) and poor performance in extreme cold or heat.

C-4: The most well-known and current standard, developed in the 1950s as a safer, more stable replacement for C-3. It’s white or off-white, highly reliable across wide temperature ranges, and remains in military use today—hence its frequent appearance in TV shows and movies for dramatic explosions.

There are no widely documented or standardized C-5 or C-6 in the Composition C family. Development essentially stopped at C-4, as it met needs effectively, though other countries have created similar plastic explosives under different names (e.g., PE-4 in the UK or Semtex in Czechoslovakia).

Now that question is answered got to find something else to think about.

Stir fried pork and cashews, should I use ramen noodles or bean sprouts. Or both?

My can is back in the cupboard.

Supper was four baby potatoes, boiled for 20 minutes then halved, sprinkled with salt, slathered in coconut oil then air fried at 350F for 15 mins to brown them and add flavour.

Served with a can of that fancy chunk tuna in olive oil and a big blob of mayo.

    @ Possum:
Oh, and fail safe technique for coating halved baby potatoes or anything you desire is use a gallon Ziploc bag. The heavy duty freezer kind.

Now you are all yelling ” That is a waste of money. They cost 15 cents EACH! ”

So what? After being used to expertly coat my air fried creations they are then placed in the freezer until next time.

Had one for so long I am even thinking of naming him. He is part of the family!

A money and time saving tip. When boiling a handful of baby potatoes before halving them, coating them in coconut oil and air frying them drop a couple of eggs into the spare space in the pan.

Green beans are done, so are the baby potatoes. Roast pork is sliced and all is now on standby ready for supper!

Yes green beans are out of a can but messed with.

First drain a can of green beans, over half of the can is water. Then place well drained green beans in a microwave container. I use them plastic kiim shee bowls that meals come in. Microwave 2 minutes at 700W for 2 minutes. I has a baby microwave.

While green beans are coming up to temperature melt one ounce of butter in a frying pan on high. Then add the green beans, they sizzle!

    Stir fry them on high.

A perfect supper. Roast potatoes, Sautee green beans, roasted potatoes. Served with a side of apple sauce and mayo.

Probably all going in the fridge. Fresh made leftovers.

A loaf of fluffy Italian bread arrived today, and bacon and tomato is in stock. We shall see what supper is going top be.

( Progresso split pea and ham soup is also currently in stock. Plus sardines )
