Ben Affleck to play Batman in Superman sequel

I am sadden to report that Christian Bale will not reprise his role as Batman in the upcoming Superman sequel. Instead it will be Marxist activist Ben Affleck, who in my opinion is not even a good actor. I am very disappointed in the selection of Affleck as Batman and really don’t see how the role fits him. His politics are a big turn off to me as well and I doubt I am not alone.

Ben Affleck is set to play Batman opposite Henry Cavill in the untitled “Man of Steel” sequel that will be directed by Zack Snyder, Warner Bros. announced on Thursday.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

Project brings Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen.

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate—among fans as well as in the media—about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing.  The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together.

In the announcement, Greg Silverman stated, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some.  His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman.  He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.  I can’t wait to work with him.”

I think casting Ben Affleck as Batman is a mistake, but we will not know until we see the movie.

Superman vs. Batman

BatmanSuperman

The sequel to the new Superman movie Man of Steel has been announced for 2015 release. The villain of the new movie has been also announced as well. Superman’s foe in the sequel will be none other than the Dark Knight; Batman.

The new Superman movie had Christopher Nolan as executive producer. He also produced the critically applauded Dark Knight trilogy. The intent here is to tie the 2 series together and have the ultimate super hero showdown.

A sequel to Man of Steel is in the works and will feature Superman facing off against Batman, director Zack Snyder has announced.

Snyder, who directed the British actor Henry Cavill as Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent, made the revelation at San Diego’s annual Comic-Con and received thunderous applause from an audience of more than 6,000. The film would be released in 2015, he said.

After announcing the plan to bring the two superheroes together, Snyder issued a statement via Warner Bros saying the two would be fighting each other and conceded this might surprise some.

“Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world,” said Snyder, who has been confirmed as director of the as-yet unnamed sequel.

The Batman in the Superman sequel might not be Bruce Wayne. AT the end of the Dark Knight Rises, Dick Grayson (Robin) goes into the Batcave and sees the Batman suit rises. This ending had many Batman fans speculating that Grayson would be the new Batman replacing Bruce. It is now apparent Chris Nolan did that scene to set up a return of Batman.

Question for Blogmoc readers, could the Batman vs. Superman film really be a proxy for Red (Rural) vs. Blue (Urban) America? Bruce Wayne (Batman) is a wealthy Urban living Hip playboy. Clark Kent (Superman) was raised in rural Kansas. Just a thought as to some unintended dynamic of the film.
