Two IDF soldiers were disciplined for dancing in a club with Palestinians. This was a reckless act and they could have been killed or kidnapped, but luckily these were not hostile Palestinians. The two IDF soldiers dance Gangnam Style with Palestinians in a nightclub in Hebron.
They are lucky nothing happened but the video was hysterical.
Although I still support the U.S. and coalition forces decision to liberate the people of Iraq from Saddam Hussein, and protect us from what then was an understandable fear of weapons of mass destruction, this was not what I would have expected would be the outcome of our effort.
As is unfortunately typical of Islam, they are once again taking over a Jewish holy site, erasing any connection to its Jewish roots, and turning it into a Mosque.
Islamists Erase Jewish Identity from Ezekiel’s Tomb in Iraq

NEW YORK (December 29, 2009) – The Iraqi news agency Ur News has revived fears that under pressure from Islamic political parties, the original Hebrew inscriptions and ornamentation on the walls around the tomb of Ezekiel are being (or have been) removed, this under the pretext of restoring the site. According to sources, the Antiquities and Heritage Authority in Iraq has been pressured by Islamists to historically cleanse all evidence of a Jewish connection to Iraq–a land where Jews had lived for over a thousand years before the advent of Islam.
Four months ago a German-based Iraqi journalist tipped off the Association of Jewish Academics from Iraq in Israel that plans were afoot to build a mosque on the site of the shrine of the Jewish prophet Ezekiel at al-Kifl…. The rumours were investigated by a philo-Semitic Iraqi Shi’a, Dr. Jabbar Jamal al-Din, a lecturer in Jewish Thought at the Kufa University. They were denied by the shrine’s director. Now a report by Ur News revives fears that in the absence of Jews on the ground, nothing, not even UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), stands in the way of politically-motivated plans to erase all Jewish traces of this ancient holy site.

Drastic changes taking place currently at the tomb of Ezekiel will change its character and prompt UNESCO to delete it as a protected site on the World Heritage List, similar to what happened to the historic city of Babylon, where old buildings were demolished and new layers of construction added.

Hebrew writings will or already has been erased from the site and from the room that houses the shrine. Restoration work includes skimming the walls, 3 metres high in the yard, 2 metres high inside the shrine. Sources say that the media are not allowed to take pictures and visits to the shrine are limited to pilgrims.

Iraq – the Biblical Mesopotamia -is almost as rich in Jewish history as the Land of Israel. The tomb of the prophet Ezekiel dates back to the Babylonian exile in the sixth century BCE. It was there in Iraq that Abraham discovered monotheism, and it is where the prophets Ezra, Nehemiah, Nahum, Jonah and Daniel are all buried.

As a “goodwill gesture” to the Phakestinians, Israel allowed Muslims into the entire Tomb of the Patriarchs (the most ancient Jewish site in the world) to celebrate the birthday of Mohammad, their so-called prophet. Because of similar past incidents, and worse, the Tomb is usually split into a Jewish side and a Muslim side. To show their appreciation for Israel’s gesture towards interfaith harmony, and their respect for other religions, the Muslims used this opportunity to desecrate Jewish holy texts, including prayer books and books of Psalms.
The Tomb of The Patriarchs is the cave that Avraham bought to bury his wife Sarah. It is also where Avraham, Yitzchak (Isaac) Rivka (Rebecca), Yaakov (Jacob) and Leah were eventually buried. When it was under Islamic control, non-Muslim entry was forbidden. It is the second holiest spot on Earth for Jews (after The Temple Mount)

The damage was discovered on Monday when Jews were allowed to return to the prayer halls usually set aside for Jewish use. The desecration caused upset and anger among the returning Jewish worshipers.
Jewish community spokesman David Wilder said such damage is unfortunately common. Jews have often returned after Muslims made use of the entire holy place to discover ruined holy books, damaged mezuzah cases and other destruction, he said. Jews try to remove all holy objects from the sanctuary before turning it over to Muslim use, he explained, but books are occasionally accidentally left behind.
The damage is not accidental, however, Wilder clarified. “They know exactly what it is that they are doing,” he said of those who destroy the holy texts.
The IDF is aware of such incidents, he added, as video cameras in the building allow them to see what takes place in the prayer halls. “It’s very unfortunate that more care isn’t taken to prevent these things from happening,” he said.
Hevron’s Jews are now calling on the IDF to refuse the next request for Muslim access to the Jewish prayer halls. If the desecration is not met with punishment, such acts will continue, they say.

This type of action by Muslims however is unfortunately not uncommon. In addition to the damage they have caused to other religions’ holy objects across the world, in 2000 they completely destroyed Joseph’s Tomb (Judaism’s 3rd holiest site) after the IDF protecting it were removed in response to a PLO promise that they would protect it.
