Iran and Us

It will take us a while to figure out why the enforcers of a long exhausted Islamic revolution behaved as they did, but it’s clear that many of the assumptions made by the Foggy Bottom crowd were completely false — not least the supposed differences between the mullahs and Ahmadinejad, whom they were reported to despise for everything from his nuclear bloviating to his allegedly low standards of personal hygiene. Our concerns are largely irrelevant: Obama? They don’t care about his speeches. The nukes? They’ll happen regardless, with wide support. This election was stolen for reasons of internal survival and long-term regional strategy by a regime confident enough to snub not just a U.S. government promoting impotence as moral virtue but those allies in Europe who regularly jet in to offer cooing paeans to the vibracy of Iranian democracy.

So I doubt we’ll see a Kostunica scenario play out. Indeed, given Iran’s collapsed demographics and other structural defects, we seem on the brink not of popular revolution but of a malign mutation of the Islamic republic into something even more virulent and destabilizing.

Long story short – let’s not be too hasty in assuming that the current strife in Iran is the harbinger of an anti-theocracy revolution.    Especially not when President Obama  is encouraging the mullahs and discouraging the reformists through his public pronouncements.

Showdown in Lebanon

Excellent article by Amir Taheri about what is stake in Lebanon. If Hezbollah and their allies win, it will be another nation in the back pocket of Iran.

Showdown in Lebanon

http://worriedlebanese.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/flag-with-blood.jpgWhile economies across the globe are in meltdown mode, the banks in Lebanon appear flush, offering hefty interest rates on savings. The Lebanese have had a knack for business and banking since Phoenician times, when they traded with every nation around the Mediterranean. But one likely reason for the country’s current economic health is the vast amounts of money pouring in to influence the general election scheduled for June 7.

No one knows for sure how much is involved. Observers of the Lebanese scene tell me hundreds of millions of election-related dollars are sloshing through the economy. While rival regional powers such as Saudi Arabia are involved, a former Lebanese army officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, says the Khomeinist regime in Tehran has emerged as the “big spender,” supplying its various agents, clients and allies with “more money than they could use.”

As someone with Lebanese blood (My Grandmother’s parents were from Lebanon), this saddens me. What will anger me is if even with a Hezbollah win, the US will continue to build up the Lebanese armed forces.  This is dangerous. Hope and Change, no thanks!

Obama Supports Nuclear Power for Iran

President Barack Hussein Obama continues his appeasement of Islamo-Fascists. He is now supporting Iran’s desire for Nuclear power.

Obama says Iran’s energy concerns legitimate

LONDON — President Barack Obama suggested that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy _ provided it proves by the end of the year that its aspirations are peaceful.

In a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, he also restated plans to pursue direct diplomacy with Tehran to encourage it set aside any ambitions for nuclear weapons it might harbor.

Iran has insisted its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity. But the U.S. and other Western governments accuse Tehran of seeking atomic weapons.

“What I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations,” Obama said, adding that the international community also “has a very real interest” in preventing a nuclear arms race.

Obama is OK with nuclear power for Islamic nations like Iran or the UAE, but he is against that for here at home. Iran is not  a nation to be trusted. It is a nut job regime that believes that it must start some apocalyptic war to bring back “the Mahdi”. This is sad when our President wants for the Muslim world, what it doesn’t want for America: energy and self sufficiency.

Underestimating Iran

Iran is the darling of the International Neo-Marxist Progressive movement. The media the world over loves this regime, even more than Castro’s Cuba. Obama is also a fan of Iran and is trying everything to please them. However, Iran’s intentions are not some progressive paradise, but a world dominated by Islamo-Fascists.

Underestimating Iran’s Global Reach

US President Barack Obama underestimates the threat Iran poses to global security. Were this not the case, he would not have sent CIA Director Leon Panetta to Israel ahead of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House.

Panetta was reportedly dispatched here to read the government the riot act. Israel, he reportedly told his interlocutors, must not attack Iran without first receiving permission from Washington. Moreover, Israel should keep its mouth shut about attacking Iran. As far as Washington is concerned, Iran’s latest threats to destroy Israel were nothing more than payback for statements by Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials regarding Israel’s refusal to countenance a nuclear armed Iran.

Iran is a danger to the whole world. They have commented many times on being a “Martyr Nation”. They believe that by setting off a big war, the Mahdi will appear and save them. The left, which hates religion, makes exceptions for Islam. As long as Islamo-Fascists like Iran hate western civilization, they will be perceived as cool and revolutionary. Expect to see Ahmadinejad T-Shirts at University campuses near you soon.

Iran must be dealt with as the Barbarians they are. No respect is to be given to that regime.

Update:  Iran just tested a missle.

Iran tests missile as election race starts

TEHRAN (Reuters) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday Iran had tested a missile that defense analysts say could hit Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf; a move likely to fuel Western concern about Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

Ahmadinejad announced the test on the same day campaigning for the June 12 presidential election officially started. A U.S. defense official also confirmed the launch.

Iran keeps a clenched fist. But Maobama being a good Leftists doesn’t care.
