I’m just gonna cut and paste it. It’s a coworker of Princess Bernie over there at GCP

A co-worker of mine, late 20’s, married, has a 15 month old daughter, became suddenly ill on February 13 and went into a coma. He has not awakened. Dr.s diagnosed encephalitis, but have not been able to determine a cause. Bacterial tests negative. Viral tests have ruled out numerous options. He’s on a respirator and has not awakened from the coma in two weeks. Lots of details about his treatment and case are available on his Caring Bridge site, but I do not want to post the link here.

If you would like that link, PM me and I’ll send it to you.

His wife is amazing and her faith is strong. They seem to be doing all they can for him, he’s been in ICU pretty much the whole time. Yesterday they went ahead and put in a tracheotomy and a feeding tube directly into his stomach because he was becoming agitated with the ng tube and the respirator tube in his throat. Over the last couple of days he has become more active and they think he can hear them, he just can’t seem to wake up. His MRI shows his brain is not swollen any more although he does continue to have seizures – mostly minor ones that don’t manifest physically.

So please add him to your prayers and ask your church community to pray for him, too.

I’m sending out a prayer to St. Christopher and St. Pantaleon. I hope this young guy gets better.

This is sad. I bet Chucky would be upset.

DETROIT, Dec 7 (Reuters) – With sport-utility vehicles at the altar and auto workers in the pews, one of Detroit’s largest churches on Sunday offered up prayers for Congress to bail out the struggling auto industry.

“We have never seen as midnight an hour as we face this week,” the Rev. Charles Ellis told several thousand congregants at a rousing service at Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple. “This week, lives are hanging above an abyss of uncertainty as both houses of Congress decide whether to extend a helping hand.”

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
