Democrats now targeting violent video games

The Democrat Party is now planning to go after violent video games. The Progressive Senator of West Virginia, Jay Rockefeller wants to the National Academy of Science to “study” violent video games. He wants the FCC and FTC to regulate what games are sold in the market. Rockefeller already has introduced legislation towards this end.

In the wake of the Newtown shootings, Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller introduced a bill Tuesday night that would have the National Academy of Sciences examine any link between violent games and media and violent acts by children, industry sources say.

According to a copy of the “discussion draft” obtained by POLITICO, the legislation directs the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission to make “appropriate arrangements” with the NAS to enable the study.

[….]

Rockefeller said he will call on the FTC and FCC to expand their work on video game regulation.  “The FTC has reviewed the effectiveness of the video game ratings system.  The FCC has looked at the impact of violent programming on children.  Changes in technology now allow kids to access violent content on-line with less parental involvement,” he said.  “It is time for these two agencies to take a fresh look at these issues.”

The lawmaker also pointed out that responsibility rests with the entertainment industry. “Major corporations, including the video game industry, make billions on marketing and selling violent content to children.  They have a responsibility to protect our children,” he said.  “If they do not, you can count on the Congress to take a more aggressive role.”

Republicans should oppose any measure restricting video games. This is a golden opportunity to turn the table on the Democrats and make them the party of cranky scolds.  The GOP should run ads on Gamer sites attacking Democrats for wanting to ban video games. Will the GOP do this? Nope, there is an element in the Party will agree to ban video games. That is why Republicans who believe in Free Markets and Individualism need to make this an issue. We need to go after the Democrats and go after anti-Individualist Republicans on this issue. This is a winning issue if the GOP decided to use it.

Leave our Video games alone!

Senate Bill to grant Obama Totalitarian Powers over the Internet

If there is any doubt about the Totalitarian nature of the Transnational Progressive movement, this should erase that. A bill proposed by Sen Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) would give our wannabe Dictator Barack Hussein Obama, total control over the Internet. The pretext would be a Cyber emergency. The question I have is what  would define this emergency?

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They’re not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

The new version would allow the president to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” relating to “non-governmental” computer networks and do what’s necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for “cybersecurity professionals,” and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.

“I think the redraft, while improved, remains troubling due to its vagueness,” said Larry Clinton, president of the Internet Security Alliance, which counts representatives of Verizon, Verisign, Nortel, and Carnegie Mellon University on its board. “It is unclear what authority Sen. Rockefeller thinks is necessary over the private sector. Unless this is clarified, we cannot properly analyze, let alone support the bill.”

For years during the Bush Administration, the Progressive attack machine complained about Telecoms cooperating with the government over Terror related issues. They are going beyond anything the previous administration ever did. This is another case of them projecting their goals onto their opponents actions.

This bill must be opposed and hopefully the Grass Root protests that have slowed down the Eugenics based Obamacare, will turn their energies to this. This idea of giving Obama, who has shown dictator like tendencies this power is dangerous for our Republic. The Progressives will stop at nothing in imposing their Neo-Feudal State and silencing their critics. This blog, without question would be on the list to be shut down. We must not let them, write to your congressmen and email this story please! Do it for the sake of our Nation do something about this!
