Super Bowl Sunday Open 2

The Giants versus the Patriots (not the Eagles versus the Ravens like all the experts said would happen last August)

Vegas is giving the giants 2.5 and the over/under is 54.  I haven’t read any of the press coverage or who is predicted to win, I do know that 2.5 aint a whole lot of confidence in the Patriots from the betting public. That 54 O/U looks about right tho.

Well, the day of reckoning has arrived. Place your bets and put your  sports cliches in the comments!

Remember back in August; the Eagles were the greatest collection of football talent in the history of the league? The Ravens, led by Ray Lewis!!! were the team of destiny? Oh, the press so wanted the Eagles versus the Ravens, Dirty Bird Bowl, I suppose.

Well, the winner of the NY Giants and the New England Patriots get to be ‘The Team Of Destiny!” The winner of the rematch of SB XLII gets to use its own over the top adjective if they so choose, or the sporting press can pick one for them.

Black Eyed Peas’ Halftime Show Sucked Donkeys

[CNN poll here, via]

I thought it was just me who thought the halftime show sucked more than usual. Amazing amount of money and effort went into an incredible amount of lame, IMO, but it seems like I’m not alone. Over a third of the U.S. gave them some serious downdingage on the CNN poll. Hell, a third of the WORLD did.

I feel sorry for the Peas, but they did it. I’ll give ’em thumbs up for the WTF dancers award — illuminated dancing document boxes — but I doubt that was the Peas’ idea.  So, in order to cheer ’em up, here’s The Overnight Open Thread.

My take on the Super Bowl 45

It was a classic show down for Super Bowl 45 and it lived up to the hype. The the team with best Super Bowl record Pittsburgh Steelers went up against Green Bay Packers, who was coached by the man whom the trophy is named after: Vince Lombardi. The result was Green Bay winning the the Superbowl 31-25. This win for Green Bay actually could signal a trend. The NFC has won 3 out of the last 4 Super Bowls (Giants, Saints and Packers). The Top 3 dominant team of the last decade ( New England, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis) have been defeated. The top 3 quarterbacks (Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger) have lost 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls. I don’t think this is a coincidence and could signal an era of NFC dominance.

What’s everyone’s take?
