Some Thoughts on the Van Jones Resignation

by tqcincinnatus ( 199 Comments › )

It’s big, big news.  This is important stuff, and I mean beyond just the obvious fact that it keeps a raving, racist, anti-American, truther looney-tune from having control of billions of dollars of taxpayer monies, that is….

This is politically damaging to the Democrats and to Obama in a massive way.  Because he put him into office, Van Jones = Barack Obama.  Jones wouldn’t have been there had Obama not sidestepped the constitutional vetting process and installed him into a non-constitutional office where he would be in a position to affect how our money is spent and how our lives are regulated.  The potential damage that an openly racist whackjob could have done is damage that Obama opened us all up to by his poor choice.

This calls Obama’s judgment into question.  As Hot Air via Ace of Spades reminded us, the one thing that was supposed to convince us all to vote for Obama despite his questionable past and his onion paper thin resumé was his vaunted “judgment.”  Guess where his judgment got us?

Hopefully, this debacle will call the whole process of installing unelected, non-confirmable “Czars” into executive positions into question.  We heard rumblings of it from Robert Byrd, who as a left-winger in a conservative state, was probably getting an earful from his constituents as to why this cuckoo’s nest ever happened in the first place.  If nothing else, Van Jones may end up having been a sacrificial wolf that helped start the movement to force our legislators and executive branch to actually obey the Constitution once again.

This debacle also shows the power that conservative media can have, when we all get on the same page and start hammering home the truth.  ABCNNBCBS, MSNBC, and the rest of the left-wing near-oligopoly on broadcast media were basically AWOL on reporting the news of Van Jones’ past.  They didn’t want to touch it, since it looked bad for a guy they supported.  You can bet that if this had been a Republican President nominating a conservative with even 1/100 the baggage, the MSM would have been all over it like flies on a cowpaddy.  Instead, the job was left to Fox News, Glenn Beck, and conservative blogs like Gateway Pundit, Ace of Spades, LGF 2.0, and others (please forgive me if I’m missing any), as well as news dissemination sites like Free Republic.  Each deserves a hearty round of applause for scoring a victory for the Republic against the forces of evil!

And this brings us to the obvious left-wing talking point meme that is going to be spreading around the internet today: the evil right-wing has (re)discovered that horrible, terrible personal charactre attacks work.  Those evil right-wingers!

Sorry, but no.  We were simply doing the job that Congress could have done if Obama hadn’t been trying to sneak this guy under the radar in a patently unconstitutional fashion.  Just as importantly, we need to understand that charactre counts for something.  If you have a guy who has repeatedly made anti-American statements, said he is fighting American efforts overseas, thinks his own government perpetrated the worst terrorist attack ever on US soil, constantly says that white people dump toxic waste in black neighbourhoods alng with other wacky racist conspiracy theories, and associates with open and avowed Communists, then common sense says this guy doesn’t belong in any position of authority within the American government.  That’s not a smear campaign, that’s called “common sense.”    A guy who has spent his whole adult life undermining America and helping to set Americans against each other doesn’t deserve to be in the American government.

In short, the defeat of Van Jones is not just a victory for the GOP (who didn’t do a whole lot, btw) or for the conservative blogs and Fox News.  It is a victory for America, for common sense and simple decency.  It is proof positive that there are still at least some people in this nation capable of thinking rationally, instead of just twisting around and going whichever way the winds blow.  The defeat of Van Jones shows that the old America, the America of the Founders, the America of the greatest generation, isn’t dead yet.

As John Dryden versed, “Beware the fury of a patient man.”

That’s what Van Jones’ defeat was – he was correct when he identified his opponents as “opponents of health care reform.”  They were, and are also opponents of:  massive federal debts, ridiculous spending waste of the taxpayers’ money, the assaults on our civil liberties, and the attempts by radical left-wingers to overturn all mores and traditions in this country.  In short, Obama and Co. have woken the sleeping giant – the conservative majority who slept through the “opportunity” to vote for McCain.

And the GOP will reap benefits from all this, even though they basically didn’t do anything w.r.t Van Jones.  If the Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress keep going in the direction they are, 2010 will be a magnificent election for the GOP.  Let’s just hope they can come up with another Contract with America-type manifesto to rally the troops around.  Even as it is, simply riding along on autopilot has the Republicans consistently ahead in generic Congressional balloting.  Just think where they could be if they actually did something!

To summarise, once again, kudos and a shoutout to everyone involved in bringing Van Jones down!  Score one for the Republic!

Van Jones resigns

Radical Totalitarian Progressive Van Jones has resigned his post as Green Jobs Czar. This is a huge defeat for the Progressive Movement and I give credit to Glenn Beck. Color of Change organized a boycott of Beck’s show, in return he went for one of their leaders.

WASHINGTON — Obama aide Van Jones resigns as environmental adviser amid controversy over past statements.

Read it here.

That is all the information I can find. This is a good story and it shows that Progressives can be exposed and defeated!

Van Jones Said He is Part of “Global Struggle Against U.S.”

More news on Van Jones’ sordid past comes to light, this time from VerumSerum,

At the risk of piling on, I made a discovery of my own related to Jones’ past. As has been detailed elsewhere, Jones was the founder and long-time executive director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights. One of the Center’s projects that Jones was involved in has been little noted or discussed at this stage: a record label sponsored by the Center called Freedom Fighter Music. The label appears to have been created in the 2002-3 timeframe, and to have fizzled out by 2005-6. And apparently, Freedom Fighter only produced 2 or 3 albums.

However, one of these albums was an anti-Iraq-war compilation album that caught my attention because it was narrated by Mumia Abu Jamal, a Black Panther Party activist who is on death row for murdering a Philadelphia police officer in 1981. One of the controversies over Jones this week has been his prior statements and activity in support of Jamal.

I managed to track down an MP3 of the full album entitled WarTimes: Reports from the Opposition. And lo and behold, not only did Jones run the organization which sponsored the creation of this album, but he is also featured on the album itself. I created a highlight clip featuring Mumia Abu Jamal and some of the more outrageous song lyrics (NSFW WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE). The clip featuring the short interview with Jones begins at about 3:45…but the whole clip is worth a listen, IMO.

Click the link to find the YouTube portal and listen to the interview with Van Jones, that begins around 3:45.  The money quote begins at around 4:40,

“We see violence against poor people and poor people of color within the U.S. border, at the U.S. border, and beyond the U.S. border and you see U.S. tax dollars funding all of it. And so we have this now global struggle against the U.S. led security apparatus and military agenda that impacts people here and impacts people around the world and I think that we need to see our problems as linked.”

So as to head off the inevitable argument from the Van Jones apologists that he doesn’t have anything to do with Freedom Fighter Music, please note that Jones claims it as his own in a 2003 interview he gave to USA Weekend, an adjunct of USA Today,

Marable: That’s right. Every generation must find its own voice and use culture in creative ways to speak to the new realities. In the 1960s you had the Freedom Singers of SNCC. You had [anthemic] songs such as “We Shall Overcome”, and now the 21st-century hip-hop generation increasingly uses the most progressive currents as a way of interrogating and challenging the prison-industrial complex, and structural racism, discrimination based on gender, race, class, sexual orientation. [I understand you have] developed a record label, Freedom Fighter Music.

Jones: Yes, we’ve had one for a little more than a year. Our second CD is coming out this year.

So we now have a “Green Job Czar”, completely unaccountable to the normal, constitutional processes of the rule of law in this country, who actively seeks to undermine law and order in this country, and who sides with anybody who is “struggling” against the “U.S. led security apparatus and military agenda”?  Wonderful.  But not surprising.  Van Jones also sided with al-Qaeda back in 1998 when Bill Clinton launched that attack on the Sudanese aspirin factory, speaking out against American militarism against People of ColourTM at one of several rallies that sprinkled the Bay Area after that cruise missile response,

This is using dead Third World bodies to cover up his own unzipped pants,” declared Van Jones, director of Bay Area PoliceWatch, an organization that until now has focused on alleged misconduct by law enforcement officers. Jones spoke at a demonstration at Powell and Market streets in San Francisco that drew 400 people, according to police estimates.

The theme that Clinton took military action to distract public attention from the Monica Lewinsky affair was highlighted in a protester’s sign in Palo Alto that read, “Don’t let a wartime incursion be Clinton’s diversion.”’

[snip]

There was scant mention in any of the demonstrations about the events that precipitated Clinton’s action: the terrorist bombs that exploded at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania on August 7 that killed 251 Africans and 12 Americans.”

Incidentally, isn’t it sad when the San Francisco Chronicle is more pro-American than you are?

The Van Jones Bad Crazy Gets Worse

More news about Van Jones.  This time, he has been linked to a radical Maoist group, the Revolutionary Communist Party of the USA, outed by Gateway Pundit. In this instance, he signed on as a supporter for a rally intended to “Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation” back in October 2006,

Van Jones and the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

Check out the company he keeps, too. His name is listed right between the anti-Semitic ISO (International Socialist Organisation) and Justice4Palestinians. Other baddies who supported this bit of Communist agitation? ANSWER, American Muslim Voice, Code Pink, the local shop of the SEIU, and something called the “Centre for Tactical Magic,” whatever that is. Please note, before any of the 1.0 hyperventilators grab onto it, that the “Philip Berg” listed is NOT the Obama Birth Certificate guy (Philip J. Berg), but is a Bay area Libertarian and anti-war activist, Philip Z. Berg, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in the CA-8 district last year.

All in all, a pretty classy and reasonable group of people to be hanging out with. NOT.

Of course, what do you expect from a guy who gives a speech and says, “…it’s just very, very hard for white people to hear the pain of the subjugated people in this country…

Or “…it is literally impossible for most white people to hear people of color speak about our pain, just literally impossible. The only people who have a chance to pull it off, are people who have a spiritual practice, who have a meditation practice, who have a contemplative practice..

Or, as Gateway Pundit pointed out, the guy has the “Ella Baker Centre for Human Rights” decorated with murals depicting evil white men shooting and enslaving People of Colour™ Because that’s what old white guys in business suits do all day, is walk around pointing guns at minorities and enslaving them to work on C++ plantations. Good grief.

One would almost get the impression that someone in the Obama administration, well, hates white people or something.
