I often describe myself as a Libertarian-Conservative to reflect my political leanings. On Economic issues I’m pro Free Market, I reject Marxism and Corporatism. On Fiscal issues I am for paying your bills and not getting into debt, it’s not fair to American taxpayers. On Foreign policy, I’m a Neo-Imperialist (stay tuned for the Rodan Doctrine), who believes that the US should only fight wars where we will gain some economic and material benefit like resources. I also believe the US should be at the forefront of resisting Islamic-Imperialism and arming allies to the teeth, so they are not dependent on us. When it comes to Social issues, this is where it gets tricky.

On a personal level, I am very culturally conservative. I believe in my Catholic faith, I don’t like abortion and I don’t agree with Gay Marriage. However, I am Socially Libertarian (Not Socially Liberal) in my politics when it comes to these matters. In other words, these are not issues that I lose sleep over or get worked up over. My main concern is money in my pockets and this is what the GOP should focus on.

Riding a record of unprecedented government spending, rising debt, a government takeover of the health-care system, high unemployment, and proposals to tax everything they stumble across, Democrats have put themselves in position for an epic electoral defeat that will rival the Republican debacles of 2006 and 2008.

Given this record of Democratic ineptitude and the voters’ reaction to it, one would think that Republicans would be talking about these issues every day. Instead, Republicans and conservatives have spent recent weeks talking about such distracting side-issues as immigration, the 14th amendment, gay marriage, and when and where mosques should be built.

These independent and suburban voters are now regretting their Democratic flirtation. They didn’t vote for record deficits, the health-care bill, bailouts to banks and auto companies, or cap-and-trade. Having rejected big-government conservatism, they never realized they were going to get even-bigger-government liberalism.marriage.

But these voters are not culture warriors. Polls show that while they are fiscally conservative, and very upset by excessive government spending and rising deficits, they are socially moderate, tending toward indifference or even support on issues like gay

The one issue I disagree with this article is over the 9/11 ground zero mosque and others spreading across the nation. Islamic Colonialism is one of the biggest existential threats America is facing. Europe is an example of the end result of this Imperialism. I don’t want this in America. That said, the rest of this article is spot on.

Many districts in the Northeast and other parts of the country were once Republican. Once the whole family values focus became what  the GOP was about, the Democrats ran Blue Dog type Democrats and took these districts. Now that the mask has come off and those so called moderates are shown to be really Progressive, the Republicans are poised for a come back in parts of the nation that Nixon and Reagan won just a generation ago.

I am not calling for the GOP to be Socially Progressive, far from it. Social Conservatism works in many parts of the country and that’s needed for a majority. However, a one size fits all approach doesn’t work nationwide. We should focus on the Economy because ultimately a good economy leads to a good society thus solving many social issue.
