Something New and Inventive

It isn’t often that you see something new and inventive in the form of a pump shotgun. After all, the basic design has been around since the late 1890s. People have improved on it here and there, but the basic form and function has stayed the same.

Until now.

It is even less often that I am impressed by an offering from Kel-Tec. Generally, I consider their guns crudely and cheaply made, though they are machined well enough to function reliably. I’ve never been remotely tempted to buy one. I also have never liked bullpups.

Until now.

Introducing the Kel-Tec KSG (Kel-Tec Shotgun). All I can say is wow. Fourteen rounds in twin seven round tubular magazines is a novel concept. I’ve seen that once before, but I don’t believe that particular gun got out of the prototype stage. The only question that these articles cannot answer is the actual fit and finish of the weapon. If that is of sufficiently high quality, this is a real piece of work to consider, especially for a home defense or car gun. There is also the question of how long the BATF will Allow this weapon to be manufactured. Rumors abound that Obama is looking at restricting (i.e. banning) the import of Saigas as not sufficiently “sporting”. This isn’t a duck-hunting gun, but, then, the Second Amendment ain’t about Duck hunting.

Also, consider this an open thread. Play nice.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
