The Stupid Party strikes out again

I am no fan of Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). He has been nothing but a punching bag for Obama. His cries indicate to me a man with a weak personality. He is a political eunuch and a useless tool. That said, he finally did something right. Boehner called Obama’s bluff.

Throughout the whole campaign Obama kept calling on raising taxes on the rich. He wanted people who make over $250,000 to get a rate increase. I have been saying for months that the GOP should propose raising taxes on people making over 1 million dollars. I knew the Democrats would balk at this. John Boehner finally grew a spine and used a brain cell or two and proposed exactly what I have been advocating. His Plan B was to let taxes rise on those making 1 million a year. This was also what Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi had been calling for earlier in the year. This proposal by Boehner had Obama rattled. He sounded desperate at a news conference and was willing to raise the income threshold. Boehner finally was gaining the upper hand. But as always the GOP snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

A group of so called Conservative purists decided to kill Plan B. They came out against Plan B publicly, thus putting John Boehner in a  bind. Not having the numbers to pass Plan B, Boehner pulled the bill from the floor and recessed Congress til Dec 27th. This handed Obama a huge win and he can now legitimately say Republicans are protecting the rich. Plan B would have made Obama the protector of the rich and the GOP could argue with truth that they were protecting the Middle Class and small businesses. But that is not the case.

The Republican Party at the national level is dysfunctional. There is no strategic thinking or long term planning. On one hand you have the Establishment who are sell outs. Then you have the so called Conservative purists who love the martyrdom of defeat. These two elements in the national GOP has done damage . I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that the National Republican Party is useless and just a starw-man of Democrats. The Party is torn between an incompetent Establishment and a Conservative Purity Inquisition. Rational Conservatives and Libertarians are ridiculed and silenced.

If nothing changes, a New Center-Right Party will emerge as a rejection to the Republican Establishment and the Conservative Purity Inquisition. In the meantime Obama continues his transformation of America into a Marxist state, aided and abetted by not having any opposition.

Many will disagree with what I wrote and you have every right to. I am not Charles Johnson and do not expect the readers of this blog to agree in lock step with me. All I ask is that you think about what I wrote. Do not expect any “I break with the Right” posts but I am increasingly unhappy with the direction of the Right. You have the Republican establishment who want to be Progressive lite and you have the Conservative Purity Inquisition who demand perfection. I reject both and believe there is a middle ground on the Right that is rational and can plan on a long term agenda to defeat Marxists/Progressives. I am increasingly alone in my beliefs but I feel I have to speak out.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I do not expect full agreement just to consider my observations.

FYI- I make a distinction between the pathetic national Republican Party and the Local parties that are doing great reforms at the State level.
