Here are the three main candidates for Toronto’s Mayoral Election, which took place today. The polls closed at 2000 hours Eastern Time. All our Canadian Friends (yenta-fada and Paladin Phil come to mind!) are invited to add their commentary:

PICTURED (L-R): Olivia Chow (NDP), Doug Ford (Ford Nation), John Tory (CPC)
One article from the Toronto Red Star postulates how each of these candidates might fare in the first 100 days in office:

Mayor Olivia Chow’s first 100 days in office
A win for Olivia Chow would signal an appetite for the improvements to childcare and social housing that she promised during the campaign.
Mayor Doug Ford’s first 100 days
Mayor Doug Ford faces a tremendous hurdle: he is the inheritor of his brother’s administration, one characterized by three years of losing key votes at city council.
Mayor John Tory’s first 100 days
Mayor John Tory will have the wind at his back as he moves quickly to fulfill his promises to unite the city council and work well with other governments to break the traditional logjam at city hall and get things done.

Looks like the last guy will get his shot: as of 2044 hours ET, CBC, The Toronto Sun, and The Red Star have all called it for Tory! So…Chime right on in, Canadians! As for the rest of us, it’s just another Overnight Open Thread!

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
