Not really. The Dems will institute a structured fall back tactic. They will throw the odd low to medium level player into the jaws of the Justice system in the hope of assuaging some VERY pissed off Americans. Hoping that the retribution will not reach up to the major players.

I think that we should start at the top and work down as the Nuremberg tribunal did. Hang the major rmalefactorsfor attempting to stage a soft coup d’ estat and give the medium players some jail time and de-orogram the lesser players.

The soil is totally hosed. It takes YEARS to cultivate soil and now what they’ve got is polluted with river water with a ton of crap in it. Eventually, it will be re-balanced and there is a lot of good stuff in river mud. If you’ve ever been thru a flood, the smell of what the river leaves behind is unforgettable. Some of it from rotting corpses.

A great book is The Taste of War. The Nazis were intent on using food and ag not just tactically, but strategically. I’ve forgotten the name of the guy who headed up the effort, he was what we would call an agronomist. I spent a couple years studying the issue. USDA keeps a seed bank (as do many other countries), and I got to meet some of the people. The problem as I see it – or A problem – is in the event of a catastrophic failure, there is really no solid method of getting the seed to the growers.

Water is another issue. I’ve always maintained that the way to take out the desert kingdoms is not nukes – it’s their desalination facilities. If you back-track the issues in Syria, it takes you right back to – water.

    Yeah, they slam Chicago

    https://ndaa.org/wp-content/uploads/NDAA-Press-Release-on-Prosecutorial-Best-Practices-in-High-Profile-Cases.pdf

However, the case in Chicago illustrates a point that must be discussed
in an effort to ensure fairness in our criminal justice system: the rich are treated differently, the politically connected receive favorable treatment, and Lady Justice sometimes peeks under her blindfold to see who stands before her. NDAA rejects these inequities as they are antithetical to our
founding principles of justice: that no one is above the law.

Just over 1 1/2 hours before the next RocketLabs launch from the Mahia Launch Complex. The payload is a DARPA package loaded onto its own pallet but powered by the RocketLabs manoeuvring stage to get it into an accurate orbit. No other nanosats are loaded and this is a single payload launch comprising a large pneumatically expanded parabolic antennae. It’s a proof of concept trial for DARPA to study how large parabolic antennas can be loaded in small high launch frequency boosters.

I’m guessing here but this may be part of the US to get masses of GPS satellites into orbit over a very short period to replace those satellites that have been shot down by the Chinese anti-satellite systems. The Chinese alternative LASER anti-satellite system located in Antarctica would have a very large bullseye painted on it so that leaves anti-satellite rockets launched from Chinese territory as the remaining anti-satellite offensive system. This launch may be exploring the very fast replacement of shot down US GPS satellites by very high launch frequency system with large high powered parabolic antennae.

    But that’s just me!

    🙂

I got my knickers in a twist over a NZ aviation manufacturer purchased by China. The Chinese will turn these airplanes into drones with 3000 Km range and 1.5 tonnes cargo capacity to resupply all of the Chinese artificial islands in the South China Sea.

My mate in the US Army told me not to sweat it as they had it all under control and that these Chinese logistics drones would end up jammed big time and reside at the bottom of the South China sea. That’d leave a massive hole in the Chinese offshore logistics chain.

So we threatened to shoot every last one of the fuckers out of the sky.

    Hey guys.

RocketLabs had a flawless launch and the R2D3 DARPA satellite is currently being powered by the Curie mini-boost engine to its selected orbit as we speak.

    DARPA WILL be pleased.

Next launch is in 3 1/2 weeks from Wallops off the US East coast. Meantime the RocketLabs launch site #3 work is underway at Kodiak Island in Alaska to serve Polar orbits for the US Military.

By November an Electron will launch it’s Moon Shot, to land close to the North Pole of the Moon hop over to a likely looking creature i the shadow, scrape up some ‘frost’ and return it to Earth. That’ll tell everyone whether there is Helium 3 to mine and water ice to manufacture rocket fuel from on the Moon.

Aaannddd….The BBC has to admit it lied about Trump and the Ukraine.

The BBC has apologised and agreed to pay damages to Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko.

The apology relates to an incorrect report claiming a payment was made to extend a meeting between Mr Poroshenko and US President Donald Trump.

An article, published last May but since removed from the BBC website, alleged $400,000 was paid to Mr Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen.

The allegation, relating to a meeting in June 2017, was untrue.

    and shell out $$

“We apologise to Mr Poroshenko for any distress caused and have agreed to pay him damages, legal costs and have participated in a joint statement in open court,” the broadcaster said.

    @ eaglesoars:

I will give you the short version until CW arrives to do a better job. Basically it’s about borrowing and lending money, in this case U.S. Treasuries of varying lengths of how long you are loaning out your money to the govt. You should receive a better interest rate on your dollars when you lock in your money for a longer period of time. So, the YIELD on your money should be greater for a one year T note than a one month T note. (arbitrary periods for purposes of explanation.)

The FED had said a few months ago that it would slowly raise interest rates. What they DID was indicate that forward guidance was pointing to LOWER rates. That means you will get a lower YIELD on your money in the future. So this ‘inverts’ the yield plotted on a graph. You would have to be desperate to lock your money up longer and get less interest than you can TODAY.

Am I making sense so far?

Air Force grounds entire fleet of B-1 bombers for 2nd time in less than a year

    https://ktxs.com/news/abilene/air-force-grounds-entire-fleet-of-b-1-bomb-ers-for-2nd-time-in-less-than-a-year

During a routine inspection, “potentially fleet-wide issues were identified with the rigging of the drogue chute,” according to the Air Force Global Strike Command.

The drogue chute is the first parachute that deploys when the pilot or crew member ejects.

The commander of Global Strike Command — which is located at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana — ordered a safety stand-down of the B-1B Lancer fleet.

The issue is believed to be unrelated to a problem with ejection seat (egress) components that forced a B-1 from Dyess to make an emergency landing in Midland on May 1.

The fleet was grounded on June 7. The safety stand-down was lifted June 19.

but, do be careful with the prediction power attributed to the ‘inverted yield curve’ as one must look at bond interest rates in other countries. if the lower yield long term is still higher than say the german bonds then the investor from germany will do a rational move, a flight to quality.

american central bankers are trained assassins. the raising of the interest rates increased all yields of american bonds to well above the yield anywhere else for any maturity date regardless of yield curve function. this is what creates the flight to quality.

also, an inverted yield can signal the market belief that there is little threat for inflation and/or there are too many long term bonds at this particular moment.

were interest rates raised too much, like trump says? we’ll see.

  105. yenta-fada
    108 | March 28, 2019 11:04 pm

    @ eaglesoars:

It’s not about forward guidance. That was an example. Right NOW European Banks are talking about ZIRP (zero percent interest rates) and NIRP (negative interest rates). That means people are losing confidence in their currencies. This is described in Armstrong’s post. They don’t trust the Banks enough to think they will get their MONEY BACK. Like in a bank run. So, institutional money is willing to get no interest rate from overnight lending. That means that FEAR is in the air.

Brexit uncertainty is one factor that reduces financial confidence. How do you plan your business in England if nobody will give you an answer about leaving the EU. March 29 was supposed to be the final decision. Now they moved the date which increases uncertainty regarding your planning. That increases uncertainty in TODAY which ratchets up fear. Fear is contagious. The Banks are insolvent. Meaning that they have more debt than assets. Money flow (velocity of money) slows down. This slows down the REAL economy where people need to trust that they will be paid for their goods. Trust is eroding very visibly. Money is only good when people have confidence in it. Those digits in cyberspace are not wealth. They are money for use in paying bills, buying food, bribing politicians, etc.

You know all this from Jim Rickards. Armstrong is following hourly action, not writing books. Because Marty has offices around the world and knows people ‘behind the curtain’ he will pick up on trends quickly. You pay him more, he tells you more. His Socrates program is designed for traders, institutional and otherwise. May is a crucial month which is why he is doing a May Conference in Rome.

As CW says, the Euro was poorly designed, and the black swans are coming home to roost.

This dropped late last night. Byron York is a treasure.

Byron York: In subpoena fight, Trump lawyer told Mueller: ‘You want to do it, you’ve got yourself a war’

Mueller and the president’s team went back and forth on the question of a presidential interview for quite a while. “[Mueller] said, ‘Well, John, I need to know what was in the president’s head,'” Dowd recalled. “I said you already do, you know in real time.”

The conflict dominated a difficult March 5, 2018, meeting. “I asked, what’s the president’s status?” Dowd said. “[Mueller said] he’s a witness-slash-subject. And I said, you mean he has no exposure? He said that’s right. So I knew then for sure, by inference, that [Mueller] had nothing to proceed on in the collusion and conspiracy area.”

March 2018. That bastard was waiting for the mid-terms, hoping it would give him enough political pull to do what he wanted.

Not to put too fine a point on the yield curve… i’m not buying a pending recession with just one indicator.

me neither. however I am seeing reports of inventories increasing. That’s a little too broad for me, tho. What sectors? Is it with or w/o seasonal adjustments?

And inventory is taxed…altho… I can see a yuge increase in inventory just up and across the river where J&L steel used to be. The yard is now full of new gas fracking and pumping equipment and gear destined for the cracked plant that RDS is putting in to make plastic ingredients from nat gas.

    Some perspective.

The fed gave Obama training wheels. And yes, rates had to come up to be ready for the next recession. I’d like 4%… but that’s just me.

Spain BUILT Mexico. Mexico would have been better off as an English colony…

    But I digress

This has been a rather enlightening period in politics

  131. 135 | March 29, 2019 10:36 am

    @ RIX:

Absolutely. Especially if the President had already submitted written responses. This was NOTHING more than a perjury trap. As perjury was the chief charge leveled against Bill Clinton, this would have paved the way for Pelosi and the Dems to seek impeachment. This was why all this was held back, as has been pointed out. Mueller waited for the midterms. If the Dems had taken the House and Senate, he MIGHT have been able to reword the report to try to make their impeachment case for him.

His problem was that the machinations of the FBI and DOJ vis-a-vis the FISA warrant came to light, the Congressional testimony was being produced and he realized the game was up. Everyone that was really informed now knew there was nothing to the collusion story.

Now the big thing we’re waiting for is the IG’s report – as I believe he’s the one conducting an investigation into that FISA warrant business and the Hillary coverup. I could be wrong. I just know one is ongoing and I think he was waiting for Mueller.

I’m amused by everyone is saying Barr is hiding something, that the report does NOT really say with the summary says. Okay….but if he’s mischaracterizing the report, why isn’t Mueller on every left-wing MSM outlet saying that Barr’s lying about the report results?

And Trump needs to stop threatening and go ahead and de-classify the documents.

whoa. Of ‘things that are not good’ this is REALLY not good.

He can try. But he’s not the final word. Every IC agency gets a shot at docs and can redact, e tc.

Actually, I believe the president is the final word. He can over-rule the IC and declassify as he so chooses (see jimmy Carter and stealth technology). Doesn’t mean it is a wise thing to do, but it is the prerogative of the President.

Writer’s motivation? To tell a good story and get paid! 🙂

It’s an “end of the world” type scenario with the main character being one of those types that doesn’t want to roll over and die.
