We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Play nice!

The msm makes it so easy. I was in the kitchen for the most part, but apparently, there was some shade directed his way for playing golf AGAIN, when in reality he was in Afghanistan, catching them all flat footed because they’d rather strut their TDS in front of their garbage friends than do their jobs.
Fish. Barrel.
Everything is done for the day. I’m off. Hope you all had a great day, we did.

Good morning. Here S the SNL skit on the Dem debate that CW mentioned.
Fun view!
Apologies in advance for posting serious glop. But it is. Serious.
Star Trek was really cool not just for the holodeck but because you could talk to the computer and order filet mignon out of thin quarks.
It’s becoming a reality. The implications are beyond staggering. I’m not against this out of the gate. The concerns I have, at least right now, are with the disruption to the eco-system. Without animals and their waste (yes, manure is soil gold), the land literally dies.

These advances are now being combined with an entirely new model of production we call Food-as-Software. Imagine this: Scientists will design proteins that food developers can download anywhere in the world to produce food locally. In the process, we can bypass animals completely and build our food at the molecular level to our precise specifications. Fermentation farms will become the new food farms.
This innovative business model ensures fast iteration of ever-improving products. Modern foods will not only be less expensive than animal-derived products, but more nutritious, better tasting, and more convenient — with an almost unimaginable variety. Precision biology will allow us to create hundreds of trillions of unique proteins — the only limitation will be the molecular chef’s imagination.
There are assumptions here about civilizational infrastructure that are not addressed. This requires electricity and regardless of what this yahoo says, water. The difference is in how the water is distributed over the production cycle. That’s another issue.
Anyway, FYI/FWIW
Pretty much like the claim that electric cars are “zero emission” vehicles.
There still has to be a powerplant someplace…
Human urine and shit needs to be collected not just flushed away.
@ Possum:
I’ve written about this before. Ammonia is a component of urine and a requirement for all sorts of production, e.g., tanning. There were no porta-potties in ancient Rome – they had piss pots on the streets to collect it.
‘night soil’ is problematic, re: disease such as e coli, but has always been used as a fertilizer.
@ eaglesoars:
Whatever you take from the land must be replaced to sustain that land.
Totally off topic. Not all heroes wear capes.
Today in London the police had to drag a hero off a knife wielding person so they could shoot the bastard.
@ Possum:
and people are bitching because they shot him. shoulda just cuffed him.

That’s the only way to be sure it can’t be detonated (at least by the guy wearing it–they have been known to use cell phone backups)
