Yesterday I moved 900 pounds of cat litter, 288 pounds of cat food and 19 boxes of flooring (703 pounds) out of the garage and then back in. The right 1/3 of the garage is mostly organized.

I work both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Double time on the 25th and I’m betting we’ll be getting calls about every 20 minutes. Too bad we’re a paper-free environment or I’d be able to get a lot of reading in.

I work New Years Day but get the 31st off.

It does not seem accidental the hastily defined two articles of impeachment mirror the arguments needed in two lower court cases brought by the House Judiciary Committee.

Is THAT why Pelosi is holding up passing the impeachment articles over to the Senate?

Don’t know if it’s allowed at your workplace but I always keep a cheap ebook reader (well not so cheap anymore had to have lighted now) loaded with 100 books at all times at hand. Clear as paper, readable in all light, cheap to load. Tons of free and cheap content avaiable out there, some actually pretty good.

I’m going crazy. I’m an experienced educator having worked as a substitute teacher and aid on and off since 1995. Yet, I have a son in his sophmore year of High School who is failing all of his classes except for his art and resource room classes. He knows I can help him get caught up but won’t bring home any of his work. He brought home 0 books over this break. His excuse is that the semester is over (it isn’t they have one more week of finals when he gets back). He didn’t even bring anything home to study for finals. Anybody have any ideas? Rewards don’t work. Punishments don’t work.

Is there something he REALLY wants to do that he can actually spend time doing? I’m not talking video games, I’m talking volunteering at an animal shelter or something. He needs to re-orient with no pressure.

I wish it was shutting down and running away. Unfortunately, it’s actual laziness. He even admits it. His only goal in life is to be a online streamer. Won’t listen to me that his odds are about 100,000 to 1 and he doesn’t exactly have the studio or the money to get the equipment he needs without a job or the education to get a job. His older brother finally woke up a bit in his senior year and is finally passing his classes so maybe I’ll get lucky with this one too.

Not sure if he will listen, but to do that requires that the person doing the internet thing has some skill to share. My favorite internet kid started doing welding videos while he was in high school and I think he made good money doing those videos and getting sponsorship. However, his goal was to become a certified welder and start his own business — which he did and continued to be an internet personality. The person I was following got his welding training from a Georgia tech school, then moved from his home in Ohio to Texas and started business there until he decided he wanted to farm instead. You can’t just “be” an internet personality, you have to have something that others want to watch.

Exactly. I’ve pointed that out to him a lot. Tried to explain if that’s his goal he needs to have a focus to it. He thinks he can do it with just things like theories on games and such but that isn’t enough. He has to have something that captures attention and right now he doesn’t have that. Even if he does manage to get something going he’s going to need supplementary income, because the chances of becoming one that generates a living wage off of monetization are incredibly slim.

First off, speaking as someone who has never had to raise a child from birth to maturity, but only some years as a step=parent and as someone who grew up as a total, complete and hopeless misfit – my contribution to this conversation is that it is unreasonable to expect 18 year olds to know what the hell they want to ‘be’. That I ended up as someone society views as ‘successful’ was a lucky accident. Pure happenstance that I found something I was exceptionally good at and loved doing.

You aren’t going to teach this kid anything. He’s going to have to learn it on his own. Let him fail. Be there for him when he does. That doesn’t mean a roof over his head unless he pays rent, etc., but being on your own is it’s own reward and the best school you could ever have.

Oh, and by the way, at a whim, YouTube can demonetize you because you may have said or posted something with which they disagree. Happened to my favorite internet kid — he has stopped making videos after he posted something not exactly PC and was demonetized.

Oh, I’m aware, I don’t even know what I want to be. I just want him to have the opportunity to be able to try. If he fails before ever getting out of school it doesn’t bode well. Especially since he has me as a resource to help him and refuses to make use of it.

If I could afford the 150 a month (with the employee scholarship) I could put him in the private school I sub for and his grandmother works for and he wouldn’t be at risk of failing. They use an online course that I feel he could follow a lot better.

I could home teach him but I would have to go to court against his mother to pull it off. I could probably win since she’s basically given up all responsibility for them, but once again it would be a lot of bad feelings and financial costs.

On a cheerful note, the free cooler I picked up is working great for cigars. Got my hands on a spanish cedar cigar box and broke it down into shelves. Tossed in a humipack and the wood is soaking up the moisture nicely. Should be ready for a handful of cigars by tax return time.

Good morning. Had trouble sleeping so Ithought that I would peruse the local newspapers on line.
I should have known better but I read Niel Steinberg. He is exhibit one of the smug , math challenged cretins turned out by J schools.
In a nut shell if you are a Trump supporter you have a Messiah complex. Yet he freely admits that he voted for Chicago Jesus twice. But Trump supporters are myopic and you know stupid.
In his view Trump is clearly guilty of trying to bribe the president of the Ukraine. He even says that Trump admitted it, but has no quote where he said that.

That right there pretty much identifies his level of intellect. Obama was sold as the democrat messiah and acted the part. If he’s too myopic to see that, then nothing he writes is worth reading.

In his view Trump is clearly guilty of trying to bribe the president of the Ukraine. He even says that Trump admitted it, but has no quote where he said that..

Whereas there is video of Joe Biden bragging about withholding aid until the Ukraine fired the prosecutor.
